Dunno what’s worse, our performance or the £8 stream. Bloody woeful last half an hour that, basic passes misplaced, some utterly unexplainable decisions by certain players where I’d need to be a physic to figure out what the hell they were thinking. We have absolutely nothing in midfield, no creativity or movement or options in there, need players in there ASAP. No idea what formation we’re playing but it ain’t really working, we’re getting cut open through midfield far too easy, can’t be playing long term with this few men in there. Some rank awful panicked defending on show as well, failing to clear properly, fullbacks and wingers positional play poor and letting crosses in- though that’s nothing unusual. Lack of quality wide as well meaning we’re really struggling to create any chances, still need some players in there too with some end product imo to give us any threat which we’re lacking at the minute.

Shame because we actually started well, quick passing and getting near to creating chances while dominating the ball. We seemed to panic when rangers got a foothold and started to hoof it, gotta not do that because it just kept giving the ball away. Stick to your playing out the back principles which we started well with. Not impressive so far though and shows there’s a lot of work to be done on the training pitch and transfer market.

When we have the ball, at least in the first couple of minutes; Keogh's been advancing just behind the midfielders and Huddlestone's been stepping up to not be the deepest midfielder.

Always amazes me how confident people will be after a good pre-season, and how stressed out they'll be after a poor one. Like it has any bearing at all ?

From recollection how we do when the season starts is generally inversely proportional  to how we appeared to perform in preseason.

Waghorn's so much better as part of an attacking duo. He and Bennett doing good work. Really want to see him with Marriott.

Meanwhile Lawrence has squared up with the Rangers captain Tavernier

Lawrence probably would have been off in a competetive game, tbh. Very strange behaviour.

Meanwhile, Huddlestone is definitely taking a more advanced role while we're in possession, and Dowell's put a long shot wide.

Most teams in the premier league have a defensive midfielder. Man City would not be as good without Fernandinho for example.

Yes but it's a different type of defensive mid to the one that's needed in the Champ. Prem CDM's are often very capable when going forward as well as in their natural defensive habitat. Much more rounded players than the ones in the Champ

Lawrence plays a poo ball to Bennett, who gets levelled as a Rangers player sneaks it; and Lawrence moans at him while he's getting up.

Is Lawrence on roids or something?
