v Ipswich Town (H) Match Thread

Derby blood

He has to do something with the shape for me. 7 goals conceded in 3 games is awful. Not laying the blame entirely at the defence because they don't get much protection.

Personally think we need to go back to a 4231 to shield the back 4 a bit better.

Also. When it was reported earlier on in the summer that Bryson was going to Cardiff. I was happy with it. I said at the time that his best days were behind him and we'd seen them.

These first 3 games. He's ran around a lot and that's it.

Assuming that Huddlestone, Malone and Davies are out.

Carson,

Bogle, Wisdom, Keogh, Forsyth,

Evans, Johnson,

Lawrence, Mount, Jozefzoon

Marriott.

I haven't seen anything in these first 3 games that show me that Bryson and Mount are gonna work together.

If we had everyone fit. If have Davies in for Keogh, Malone for Forsyth and Huddlestone for Johnson.

Out of all the seasons for Mick to leave, this is probably the poorest in terms of our own style of play. I truly believe that the first team to just sit off derby without a high press will get a hiding, and the team that would've been most likely one to do that would've been one managed by mick McCarthy. It feels like we need a convincing performance, not even necessarily a win, but a bit of progression, something to be excited by and for everyone to buy into. Ipswich have had a rather unconvincing start themselves, however this is ipswich at home we're talking about. We haven't beaten them at home since 2006, 11 games, so I can't wait for the inevitable 1-0 loss. It is strange how some teams just perform worse against others, like how QPR have never won at Forest in their entire history. Do players themselves just buy into the idea that they've lost before a ball is kicked just because of the names of their opponents?

No need to rip up the plan and start again it's just tweaking it to find that balance , personally I'd like to see

                            Carson

Bogle.      Keogh.       Pearce.   Malone

                                  Evans

                 Johnson

Wilson.               Mount.            Lawrence

                           Marriott

Marriott needs a league start or at least a half .  A fine balance between being ready at this level and losing confidence.

I would like to see Waghorn and Marriott up top, a real handful for the oppositions defence.

Possibly 3-5-2

                                Carson

             Bogle.       Keogh.    Forsyth

Wilson    Mount  Tomori  Evans  Lawrence

                   Waghorn.   Marriott

I think dropping Tomori into the DM role may work alongside Evans or Ledley.

This is purely going off what people on here have said as I am away on holiday and yet to see the side since Reading away.

Don't know what the answer is at CB until Davies gets back so we may have to stick to Keogh and Tomori.

We may revert to Wisdom and Forsyth.

I would move Waghorn to the left with Lawrence on the right.

Marriott in the middle.

                                 Carson

Wisdom        Tomori      Keogh     Forsyth

                    Evans          Johnson

Lawrence                Mount          Waghorn

Marriott             (though Nugent was good yesterday)

Next Tuesday’s game with Ipswich Town is set to be a special one, with RamsTV able to broadcast the match live to supporters in the UK for the very first time.

The match marks somewhat of a culmination of 18 months of hard work for the team behind RamsTV, after it successfully streamed the club’s first team fixtures to thousands of fans across the globe during the 2017/18 season.

Due to an EFL rule change at the beginning of this season, clubs are now allowed to broadcast mid-week league games to audiences in the UK – as long as the matches have not already been selected for traditional television coverage.

The fixture with Ipswich Town will therefore be the first to be available to stream in the UK through both dcfc.co.uk and the club’s official app for the one-off pay-per-view charge of £10 (a price set by the EFL).

RamsTV subscribers located outside of the UK will still be to stream the game or make a one-off purchase at the regular international pay-per-view cost of £5. Existing overseas video subscribers will have all domestic streams included in their subscription. Domestic audio subscribers will not have access to live video with their subscription and will need to purchase a pay-per-view package.

Waghorn, Mount, Lawrence, Jozefzoon, Wilson all consider themselves set piece specialists and probably claim them themselves.

To be quite honest, I don't care who's taking them, I just want them to

a) avoid the first defender

and b) not fly straight into the goalkeeper's hands.

If that happens, it doesn't matter if the ball lands on the head of a striker or a defender, we've got a chance. Equally, it doesn't matter if Waghorn is in the box if the ball never arrives there.

We need to sort it out.

So far this season, the only set piece that hasn't been abysmal have been Lawrence's absurd Ronaldo FKs. The world is topsy turvy!

We finally actually score from a set piece in Lawerence and was rather close yesterday given the distance.. This man should be taking every set piece imo if he’s been practicing them (clearly has) give him the FK.

So if I’ve understood correctly, you can get the overseas package for £12.50 pm and still watch it in the UK? Rather than the £10 just for a single game... a tad silly in my opinion ?

Who will he drop, thought waggy played well.  We need a settled team though.

I just think Nuge gave the team the impetuous needed, if we can start like that and keep it going. Nuge won't make 90 mins, so bring Waggy or Marriot on then.

Yes I agree with nuge comment but let’s face it he’s not part of the future.  Got to stick with the plan anything else is an admission of failure.  I would be worried if he keeps making unforced changes every game.

It's not at all an admission of failure. It's a realisation that the Championship is a hard league (maybe harder than FL 1st thought?). There's more than one way to move us forward to being more of a possession-based side. Adaptability must be the key and remembering that winning helps create a positive atmosphere to go forward. There should be a bit more evolution and a little less revolution as dealing with a relegation fight would prove a difficult atmosphere to encourage free-flowing attacking possession.

Need to find balance in the centre of midfield soon, that might only come with the return of Huddlestone.

Need someone like him or Evans with composure to play as deepest man, then either energy of Bryson or battling of Johnson along side. To support Mount.
