I don't think Rowett will expect every single one of the players to turn into the more physical and athletic players he wants, that's what the new signings are for...

Indeed GR's rationale was that the 'new' players will allow the others to do what they do best.

PS I daren't welcome Chrissy home until I see him in the kit! Bloody #toddyfacts have got me jittery! Lol. ;)

Rowett is on record saying he's spoken to Martin and wants him back - Does that not suggest to people that potentially he DOES fit into the Rowett style?

Didn't he sign Jutkiewicz? Who for me was always a poor version of Martin...

Top player and has done well for us especially considering he cost nowt. However, listening to Rowett yesterday he was very keen to stress that the squad needs to improve it's fitness and work rate to play the way he wants them to, not sure Chris Martin totally fits in with this.

It will be interesting to see how Rowett deals with him.

He said that the team likes to play possession based football but we will need to add to our athleticism to be able to play a different way when it isn't working.

63 goals in 161 games, a fantastic record for us. Only mental people will disregard that.

yep and fans label Shaun Barker a legend. All about faces fitting at DCFC.

And we all know who will be the winner of that confrontation...

I guess in the interviews since Pearson Mel asked about Martin, keep or sell. If the wrong answer was given then the interview stops immediately and escorted from the building.

The fact that Pearson wanted to get rid of him is a good enough reason to keep him in my eyes.

I go by one rule in life - whatever Nigel Pearson's instinct is, do the opposite.

What would Pearson NOT do?

I hope he reads this at some point

And I hope Vydra reads this.

Wouldnt have got Vydra without Martin going out.

Also dont forget if it was purely just a get rid of Martin ploy by Pearson, then he would have been sold to Wolves. Wolves put a decent bid in, but it was rejected.

We're adding a striker reportedly worth £10 million (at least to Fulham) to our squad for free.

Regardless of your opinion of Martin, that's great news.

His performances this coming season will determine his value. The speculation on his greatness will then be settled on the pitch, not on forums.

More incompetence by Pearson - couldn't even sell him properly!
