Depends how you spend it, if spent wisely on personnel that improve you, in positions that need strengthening, rather than spending it on players with no real idea of where you will play them, you've got a much better chance (granted still not guarenteed) of breeding success. We should have expected Newcastle to hoover up some of the better players on the market. We aren't some sort of transfer powerhouse just because we went a but nuts last season.
