Manicsheepreacher
Quite a shame really. Had the best close control in the squad and on his day could really dribble with pace. Scored some great goals too. Against Fulham, Doncaster, and Wigan especially. Would have been really intrigued to see him given a run in a more central role as a replacement for Hughes. Under different circumstances, who knows he could have saved us the millions we spent on Butterfield.

robglosta
The one that never was. Seemed like a player with great potential and a sumptuous touch, but for reasons unbeknownst to us it didn't quite work out. Good luck Dawks!
Kernow
Does anyone know if we got a fee for him or did we let him go for nothing?

deanoakaram4life
Seems a big love in here!! Never really rated him. He definately went down hill when he joined permanently. Skilful player but no where near the physicality for this league.
AmericanRam
Head Coach Paul Clement said: “We wish Simon, who was a popular member of the dressing room, every success at San Jose Earthquakes. “The last six months have been difficult and challenging for him because of his lack of match football. “He handled that situation well - it would have been easy to down tools, reduce his effort and possibly be disruptive. “Instead, he was professional, respectful and hardworking and he dealt with the disappointment with class and he is an example to us all.” Read more at http://www.dcfc.co.uk/news/article/simon-dawkins-joins-mls-side-san-jose-earthquakes-2887595.aspx#vIBxs1whOezQgzHc.

Lets hope that the continental drift takes him to a new level. He could be a mover and shaker at that level. Good luck Simon.
PistoldPete2
Good player, and despite his lack of end product he did get a few goals from midfield. Not sure what went wrong but hey ho.
Abu Derby
I would hope we'll get £500k for Simon at least.

cannable
He had so much ability, but fate had it in for him. An 18 year-old Simon Dawkins should have had the world st his feet, but injuries pretty much sent his career off the rails. Then when it looked like his career was getting back on track his mum passed away. I think, due to his previous stint in America and Jamaica he's only had one pre-season in the last 5 years. Sad to see him go. I'll never forget his outside of the foot pass to Ward against Boro at him in the Wembley year, utter class.
maydrakin
I'm sad to see Dawkins moving on, but it's in his best interests as he was somehow surplus to requirements here. He is a player I really enjoyed watching and I felt he could have had more of a chance in the first half of the season.
angieram
Simon Dawkins was the player I always wanted to do well, he had great ball skills, but we didn’t see these often enough in a match situation. I am pleased he has a fresh start and wish him all the best. Will miss our Dawks.
StockholmRam
Good luck to the lad. He should be playing a far higher level than USA though.
