Body language and price tags are so important in peoples' perception of players but it can often lead to false impressions. The best way to judge a player's ability is on appearances, whether multiple managers play them, who is interested in them when they might leave, and what other players say about them. Tom is generally first choice under God knows how many managers he has played under and there is a lot of clubs sniffing around him now. Making him captain seemingly makes little sense, yet the spirit of the team has been the best I've seen it for several years. Now this may be a coincidence, but if Davies/Shinnie/Jagielka were captain we would be lauding their leadership skills.

Steve McManaman had terrible body language and was widely disliked when playing for England yet he is one of few British players that were very successful abroad in the past 30 years. Probably our second best export in that time behind Gareth Bale.

Ahead of Jesus? Must be some player.

If so, shall we move onto the next game?

We are all disappointed in the last couple of games, but having read about sacking Rooney, players not caring, players giving up, our recruitment is awful, we are definitely down  even down without a points reduction in the last 24 hours, it's time to regroup and be realistic.

Rooney wasn't the best manager in the Championship 4 games ago and he isn't the worst now. What we do have is a thin squad mainly made up of veterans and youngsters. We started yesterday's game with half of our outfield players aged 34 to 39. With the new manager bounce they played a high tempo and we got overrun. We look tired and are ready for the international break.

Are we going down? We are certainly up against it. There are so many variables, admin points appeals, ffp appeals and takeovers and that's before we get to what happens on the pitch. I think the players are giving their all and until the Blackburn game, so were the fans. These are trying times and we need to stick together and stay optimistic. We need to still be in the fight when the New Year comes. By then we should know more about points deductions, new owners and transfer capabilities.

If we get deducted 21 points, there is little hope, but we can't give up yet. Every point is vital and every fans support is too. I hope that our fans recent negativity doesn't transmit to the games. so let's all dust ourselves down and keep supporting our great club as best we can.

I don't know if we can manage this great escape but if we do, it will take the collective will of all of us.

    Sage advice, er Sage

  3. Just thought I'd say hi.

Been a long time visitor to this forum and enjoyed reading your comments (most of them anyway!). Decided to finally become a member so I can share my own thoughts, after what has been a whirlwind couple of weeks for the Rams (not to mention the couple of years leading up to it). Whether you enjoy my comments remains to be seen...

A bit about me – I was born in Burton but have spent the most of my adult life living and working in the East (Anglia that is). One of my earliest memories of the Rams was watching the Tin Man warming up at the BBG by nonchalantly curling the ball into the net from the corner flag, which to my 10 year old eyes was very impressive. The only thing I remember about the game itself was that it was 0-0, so McMinn's corners were probably  the most exciting thing about it.

Currently living near Ipswich so would be good to meet any fellow Suffolk Rams over a pint (ale not lager please). Not seen many Derby shirts down this way but know from this forum that there are a few.

Regardless of the situation we're in, loving the fight we're showing this season (and better football). Hope things get resolved soon so we can look to the future, whatever division that may be.

    COYR!
