I know results don’t matter at this stage of the season but I have been to 3 games so far this season ( Man U Matlock and Alfreton)and watched 3 defeats, a win at Salford tomorrow would be nice ?

We can draw a line under it at what ever point we choose and I choose now.  I found this report rather sad and that's not how I want to feel going into this season. A new season, a clean sheet. A new beginning. I appreciate where you are coming from. I am not hiding my head in the sand and I am not pretending that all is well.  Starting a new season on such a negative note does not help our team at all. If the fans expect us to fail then the team will have less confidence. They need lots of support from the fans. I hope that the team this season will respond to the positive response from the fans and will rise to the occasion. It's going to be a long and hard season so get behind our beloved team and stop draining their confidence.

It’s my opinion, I’ve already given him credit for rebuilding the team, but I won’t sit here and pretend we were going anywhere under him. That’s not being disrespectful, that’s being honest.

The most depressing time for me was spring 1984, instead of being able to celebrate our centenary, we faced repeated High Court appearances to have the club wound up. The final straw appeared to have been on the day of the home defeat to Plymouth in the FA Cup quarter final. Our 'final' appeal at the high court had been thrown out earlier that day, no potential new owner seemed likely and the only hope of salvation seemed to be in a possible FA Cup final appearance. The game at home to Plymouth, struggling in div 3, with a Semi final with the next weakest team left in the competition beckoned and gave us hope. We lost to a solitary goal direct from a corner and as we made our way home, I feared that that was the last game I would see as a Derby supporter.
However, salvation, in the form of Robert Maxwell, seemed to appear from nowhere. Although, it didn't end well with Maxwell, I do wonder what would have happened to club, if he hadn't turned up when he did.

No, but it’s clear the club have some bridges to rebuild with the fans.
Despite not achieving promotion we have had some real good atmospheres around the club, whilst some may find it hard to believe, we’ve been lucky.
Many clubs out there that have gone years without a sniff of any kind of cup or promotion to enjoy.
I don’t want to get into the blame game or the EFL’s role in the position we’re in, but it’s not a great situation.
Reading across social media, seeing so many fans feeling disconnected is not great, and as I say we need to see bridges rebuilt, ideally starting before the first game of the season.
I’m not one to call for answers from the club, I would rather they spend every hour working on improving the situation as we have too many outstanding issues that need resolving.
Saying that, I do feel like the club need to host a fan forum asap, whilst some see these as nothing more than PR stunts, some good PR is needed to lift the spirits.
I fear the atmosphere for the opening game could be extremely toxic if we go into the start of the season under so many question marks.
As fans though, we need to play our part no matter how hard it is, we have to get behind the players we have and Rooney, dial back the criticisms and as cliche as it sounds, be that 12th man/woman.
If we can’t do that in our hour of need, then why are we even here?
Toxic atmospheres, attacking the club will not help the situation at all, it just won’t, so the question is, how much do we love this club? Right now is the time to show it and come together and try to focus on the positives and help create some optimism going into what will be a difficult season without a doubt.

I have been reading again Peter Seddon’s great book “ The Men Who Made The Rams”, the story of the birth of our great club, I have then tracked the original newspapers from 1884 to see for myself just what was happening 137 years ago, it’s an interesting read !
I intend to add stuff on a regular basis, knowing the history of your club is an essential part of supporting your club, all of this stuff is out there preserved for future generations but how many people know that or how to access it, not many, so  I’m going to share it.

The EFL's rule on the minimum strength of a playing squad even for a club under an embargo is there to protect the integrity of the competition. By including the players used for the Chorley game in calculating Derby's current squad strength they would be arguing against the very reason the rule was introduced in the first place.
If Derby had fielded the same team they did for the Chorley game for an end of season match with little consequence to the Rams (but possibly could effect other issues i the division) they would be done for fielding an under-strength team.

It is a mess. This is the third season running where our preparations have been completely disrupted by aspects outside of the managers control. If nothing else, that is more than enough punishment from the EFL.
I think we did well the previous season, but last season, everyone underperformed, from top to bottom. To make matters worse, the job done from external sources (the EFL) has also been rubbish.
This all leaves Rooney in the middle of potential disaster. What can he do? He was very lucky to get the job in the first place, he was lucky to keep his job (better performing managers have gone for far less). He is probably the manager most in need of support but he is getting none. These are not conditions to help a manager blossom. He doesn't have any previous performances to give him leverage. The only thing he has right now is that the club cannot afford to sack him. I am certain he believes he can be a success, yet I think he had an arrogance last season that let him down. I think Rooney knows his managerial career will not be tarnished with what happens here, I think it still remains a win win for him. If he makes something of this season he will deserve all the credit going.
We have to support him, we have to back him. I didn't want him, I thought he should have gone at the end of the season and I have minimal enthusiasm for this season. But right now, based on pure blind faith, I hope he aces it. Until any kind of takeover happens, this is what we have. Though I fear things could get nasty if we don't make a good start.
