Sorry mate I would disagree here.
Forsyth was our only left back on the books in the summer. He signed a one year deal and most agreed he would have been a good squad player to have. We then signed Elder, who pretty much we all agreed on that it was a really good signing. 28 years old, won league one previously, had 10 assists from left back. Unfortunately for him he was injured in pre season and missed most of it. Missing pre season is massive for any player as they are playing catch up.
How do we know that he wouldn't get infront of Forsyth of he'd been fit and firing all season? We don't. He's clearly plenty good enough.
    His other signings.
Wilson - Has potential to be really good.
Bradley - Everyone was absolutely buzzing when we signed him. Didn't start great. Made a couple of mistakes (which is all you need to do in our fans cases before we write someone off) and he's unfortunate that Cashin and Nelson have been so good. We probably signed him expecting Cashin to go.
Fornah - Definitely has potential. Still young. Hardly any experience. But there's definitely a player in there. Sometimes to laid back but he'll learn.
Washington - A player Warne trusts. Just starting to see glimpses (the go against Northampton) of what he could do at this level, getting up to speed. Then he's injured on international duty.
Ward - Obviously with 352 in mind. But now he just looks like he's surplus to requirements. I might be wrong. But I just don't see him getting a game or even on the bench soon.
Waghorn - Steady played. No world beater. Cheap, convenient and will still contribute when he's back fit.
Nyambe - Brilliant signing. Really good defender.
Vickers - A keeper. Not really don't anything wrong.
TJJ - Massive risk we felt we could take. Obviously looked at his ability and thought we couldn't get much better if we can get him fit. It's not worked out.
Embleton - Can barely judge this. He did his thigh taking a corner in training.
Some signings don't work out as you hope. It's the way it goes.
But we don't seem to give anyone a chance before we want them gone or say they are s****. I've seen some having a go at CBT already after playing 80 minutes of football for us.
I've just seen Brighton are letting Dahoud go. A midfielder they signed from Dortmund in the summer. Clearly not worked out it happens.
We're a league one club, with hardly any money, working to restrictions. We can only do what we can do.

As my dad would say, rest his soul: "You can only beat what's in front of you".
I understand that fans (including myself) want a better standard of football, but it simply isn't going to be that way. Most teams will do everything in their power to drag you down - and the standard of the league without Sunderland/Ipswich/Wednesday in it is lower than it has been in previous years.
I'll take a year of less than inspiring football if it gets us out of L1.

The quality of football is not high but we are also in League 1 with a squad of League 1 footballers, so quality and consistency are naturally difficult to maintain. If you are realistic about where we are, then perhaps it’s not so disappointing that we struggle in that department.
Some people believe we have the best squad in the league and should be a cert for top two. For me, we are a competitive top six side with an outside chance of top two. That always seemed likely to me as Bolton, Barnsley and Peterborough were better than us last season and have also looked to improve.
I am not really frustrated about people’s gripes over the style of play or generally not fazed by people not appreciating the job Warne is doing. I have too at times commented that it can be frustrating and also at times commented that Warne needs to step things up.
I was all over the thread on Tuesday saying that it wasn’t good enough v Reading. I was all over the Stevenage thread saying Warne’s position was in trouble. The difference is that it seems that some people don’t seem willing to praise and criticise in equal measure and be balanced in their views. The praise was begrudging even when we won 8 games out of 9 recently. It feels like nothing will ever be enough for some.
In terms of meeting expectation, I would say that Warne is around par. Missing out on the playoffs last season was disappointing and being in the top six now is expected. Some of the opposition teams have good squads and equally good individual talent and experienced managers at this level (see Bolton and Peterborough with Evatt and Ferguson) that are proving just as canny. I don’t see that we can be dismissive of that.

We've had one promotion since the Bald Eagle took us up in 96 and we didn't "play good football" then under Wee Billy.
In fact, I'm struggling to think of many seasons we played "good football" since we were relegated in 2001ish.
Burley's Playoff season. Obviously the season we lost to QPR in the final and much of the following season until the meltdown. Some of Lamps season.
So maybe 4 or 5 seasons out of about 22.
We can enjoy the results this season, even though the football isn't always great at times. That is better than most seasons in the last 25 years. And it's a reasonable recovery from nearly going bust and still being under a EFL business plan.

No - nothing changes as a result - the performance was cr@p, the game has gone and the result stays the same 2-1 to Derby - and be that lucky, poor or whatever it ….it’s still 3pts in the bag with only 2 defeats and 2 draws in the last 14 games. We remain 3 points away from top - and 7 points clear of 7th with 17 games to go. 👍🏻🐏

I must be a bit odd (according to some views on here )
I actually like his summaries post match. Honest realistic, doesn’t want to slag players but will always drop a hint tempered by recognising players are human. As to results, we aren’t running away with as some think we should but we are at it and serious challengers. Then you get to style of play. Sometimes quite dynamic, sometimes a bit predictable. We don’t have a midfield balance or a general. That said, the hit it wide is because that is where our line breakers are strongest. If Wash and/or Waggy were fit we could well see more from the middle or the channels.
another poster suggested we only had good results because we have batter players. I disagree. Some of our players have elevated natural skills that come out on the best of days but the rest of the time misplace passes, fail to control like so many others. Those leading lights have all passed their peaks and face a match by match battle against younger legs on average. I like Warne. Can’t stand the vitriol, don’t think he’s a genius but he’s a good manager. Derby need a hot shot in the front line and a dominating midfielder. We aren’t failing or playing bad stuff because of Warne. I reckon he’s doing a good job with what he’s got.

Why does it? Portsmouth, Bolton and Posh have all drawn and lost games this season, do you think after each of those results they’ve decided top 2 is beyond them? Nothing is decided today.

We had a below par performance with a passable result. Take the point and move on. Still plenty of points to be gained before the season ends and as it stands we’re 3 points off Portsmouth with a game in hand.

As long as there were no big surprises for DC after admin, presumably any Bielik payments etc were known about, surely these numbers are to be expected by the company and prob more importantly the EFL. Presumably they have seen them before publication and are happy in accordance with what they expected coming out of admin and our business plan or cant imagine we would have been able to sign someone on a fee yesterday.

cements my total admiration for DC and his family as they have gone from running a successful development company on a low key basis and enjoying being normal rams fans (if actually we can ever be normal) to taking all of this 💩on to deal with. Can you imagine the stuff he's had to deal with?  And after all that you have fans moaning about us not signing people, going over snd over the words the poor bloke said on the budget for this year forensically, and how terrible last January's window was, etc.
the accounts wont tell half the story but to me there are no words to describe what David Clowes and his family did for all of us, the club and the City. I also dont think we know just how close we were to being gone. Also in strange way grateful to Kirchner as if DC had not already been involved with knowledge of what was going on when just buying the stadium, would he have been in a position to act so quickly to save us?

    Respect always

Has Wildsmith forgotten to reply to a Warne text or something?
This screams of Paul being desperate for Vickers to be his number 1 and has waited for Wildsmith to drop the slightest of clangers before dropping him.
Poor decision and terrible man management if so.

You can see that their recent form might be stemming from harsh criticism from fans even though they were winning up until the new year. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/67863544 This interview last week seems like Colby Bishop their main target has lost some confidence and he goes and misses a penalty today.
This is a lesson for our fans to not be too negative of our players. We might drop the odd irritating stinker i.e. Bradford and we might not sign anyone this month but were in the mix and they need all the support they can get!

🤣 Yeah right yourself. He’s gone out on loan to the club where he started his career, to play first team football, why does that imply it hasn’t worked out here? He joined the academy, he’s 19 years old, going out on loan is part of the development of young players isn’t it?
It genuinely amazes me how many people on this forum seem to default to the most pessimistic and negative stance on anything and everything

I always think a Management team's job is a frustrating one, because if you win it's in spite of you, when you lose it's all your fault.

It was reported at the time the deal was agreed and all but signed, and they turned round at the eleventh hour and asked for more money. Cue Warne talking about ''liars in his next press conference.
There was a lot of talk around this at the time, not sure how you missed it? Also weakens your own argument about Warne having an adverse effect on potential signings if you're not aware of the context...

Spot on mate. You won't find a consistent winger in league one and if you find one in the championship they are likely to get snapped up.
We are a league one side. Who honestly do people honestly expect us to sign? I can't fathom it.
These are the same people who didn't want us to sign Jordan "currently the top scorer in league one" Rhodes.
We're a league one side, with a league one budget. Some of our fans need to realise that.
