Lampard played Wilson, Lawrence and waghorn …
Not to mention mount in support and a very forward looking fullback in bogle.

Brilliant. Two forwards at home.  No attacking looking players in midfield.
    Not enough creativity either.

We will need the full backs getting up a lot and the midfield supporting the strikers.
Warneball is really winding me up. I hope I’m wrong but it feels like another frustrating evening ahead already.

    I'm all for this.
Seeing some of the reactions from players and managers, I'll be completely honest, they can suck it.
No more time wasting, short changing supporters for the hideous amounts of stoppages. How about we actually crack on with the match now? Tactical injuries are no longer an excuse, thank the lord. It was terrible last season and it was getting worse. The biggest clubs have no case. The resources Man Utd, Man City etc possess, they could field 3 starting 11s. Maybe they'll actually start using their squads properly.
Best thing the football authorities have done in years. If the players don't like it, ask for a sub to save the legs. Or.... actually try and play some more football and get the matches over and done with quicker?
    Cheers from me 😎

If players stopped wasting so much time there would be less time added on. Simple.
Perhaps this rule might help nip it in the bud,in which case I'm all for it.

I see that the usual culprits from the pfa and epl are moaning on. What none of them seem to clock is that if the players didn’t constantly kick the ball away (Korey…), or go down as if shot after being breathed on or kick off quickly after a goal is scored or didn’t delay free kicks, throw ins or goal kicks then there wouldn’t be any time added on.
Trouble is that it’s ingrained behaviour now and referees have a history of enforcing new rules for a couple of weeks and then forgetting that the rules are in place, just to make their lives easier. It’ll be interesting to see how it goes.

It's the Refs job to add time on.
    Taken from the link below.
The Premier League average was 55 minutes, the Championship was 52 minutes, League One was 50 minutes, and in League Two matches just 48 minutes.
    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/66426840
The fan has been short changed for decades where a 90min game is shortened dramatically, Wigans 2nd goal took an age for the game to re start.
I remember Eddie Howe bringing his Burnley team down to PP and the game was constantly stopped for alleged injuries and slowing the clock down, We lost 0-1

Because our manager is a fitness coach in a bobble hat whose only tactic is to run and smash the ball in, the average squad age is 76, and we’ve replaced David McGoldrick with Martyn Waghorn who’s scored one goal this decade.
Oh, and our budget to do anything about these things is £2.50 and a bag of quavers.
But apart from that, everything’s fine. HMS piss the league and all that

What? I hadn't realised there was only one way to play football! FFS all these years watching the game wasted on me then. Far be it from me to suggest he make the best out of a good squad by playing to their strengths.

I am surprised you think Warneball is unadventurous and boring to watch. I think it’s almost the opposite; but is it promotion winning football? You can’t knock his career L1 promotion record, but even this season with the squad he has assembled, it still would seem to me that those players could take us up if they were played to their strengths, as a 442 or 433, rather than how Warne wants to set them up to play.

Not wanting to get into big-club arguments or arbitrarily slagging off Warne, but I do think there’s a small nugget of truth in this, in that I think his default tactics are far more suitable when you’re the smaller team. The ultra-aggressive non-stop pressing stuff is what you do to stop teams outplaying you (if you can’t outplay them, out run them etc). But I think teams are far more likely to try and outplay Rotherham than they are us.  A lot of teams at this level will come to pride park and just try and stop us playing, and maybe nick something if they can, they won’t even try to play out from the back into the traps we’re laying for them.  Ironically of course, Wigan was a game we should have been ok in, because they did try that, we just didn’t execute very well.
I do also wonder what kind of squad he walked into at Rotherham. If he inherited a squad that was already quite suitable for his style, he only had to maintain that for a while.  He’s maybe never had to deal with having a squad that simply cannot do what he wants them to do.  Kind of like the way Steve McClaren (the first time) walked into a squad perfect for what he wanted, and he hit the ground running. Whereas Nigel Pearson had nothing like it and sank within weeks.

At last we have the chance to play on a level field!
With respect please could the EFL:-
Implement points reductions when appropriate rather than delay for 9 months.
Ensure that refs are conversant with rules governing yellow and red cards and what constitutes a penalty. Adopt an  even handed and impartial approach which does not favour certain teams at the expense of others.

I actually think this could be a blessing in disguise....
If we'd been promoted, we would have really struggled to recruit decent Championship level players within the financial restraints that we'll be under next season (even assuming the EFL permitted us a bit more wriggle room) - it had the potential to be a horrible season with us spending most of the time in the lower reaches trying to fight off relegation. As it is, we will be after less-able (League One level) players, a lot of whom will have played at PP this season and will have liked what they've seen - we'll still be one of the biggest clubs in the division and we'll hopefully be able to recruit players to address the obvious gaps in the squad, permit us to have more options in the matchday squad, and really give it a go from the start of the season with a fully fit squad that have all had a proper pre-season (something we struggled with this year) - and if we do go up, we should be free of the EFL and their diktats when we start in the Championship to really give us a fair chance to compete....

I find it comical how quick everyone is to defend Warne. The denial of his faults is embarrassing, even if you're Warne in or out, people are making out him to be some God - he's clearly not.
It can't be denied his record against top half teams is diabolical.
We won 2/15 games under Warne against teams in the top half of the table. That's awful. Rosenior won 3 in more than half the games.

You’re right, we have had rotten luck with referees decision and todays against sheff wed is another example. Plus we’ve suffered with inexperienced players, such as Harvey White.
But we’ve also suffered from players playing out of position. Cashin (who was superb for most so the season) at times looks like he’s playing left back and was caught out a few times for pace. Knight is wasted at wing back. He does the job very well but really shouldn’t be playing there. Sibley isn’t fed the ball enough and is subbed off when he would be most effective when opposing players are tired. Dobbin was unplayable for a couple of weeks and Warne put him on the bench.

Tactically we seem overly kean on playing long diagonal balls, despite bird and hourihane being perfectly good ball playing midfielders. Warne just wants to by-pass them.
Warne bemoans our ineffectiveness from free kicks and corners … but what has he done about it? There is no inventiveness, it seems to be just hoofing the ball into the box and hoping. As is so often the case our corners seem to be simply an opportunity for the opposition to counter-attack. I’m more worried that we’ll conceded than score.
I really, really want us to be successful next season and I’m sure with his players we will improve our position in the league.
I genuinely fear that we will be watching more long ball stuff and have players that “chase down everything”, which is great, but it might be that we sacrifice skill for stamina and end up watching worse football.
