its good to see a fans group be proactive and contact people rather than wait like Ramstrust.

Either Mel was right or the administrators are actually good at this. Mel couldn't sell us for love nor money for years, we go in to administration and it seems we now have at least 3 companies fighting for our hand in marriage.

  2. I'm no lawyer but I'm presuming the suing is regarding administration as surely they cannot be suing us for FFP as we haven't been penalised for that yet and I'm under the impression you cannot sue on hypotheticals?

Yes it's true had we gone in to administration last season they would still be in the Championship, we never, so frankly tough t*ts. It's not like the owners took the decision lightly and thought let's go in to administration next season because Wycombe LOLZ, no it's a combination of Covid and chancers parading as legit business owners and that came to a head this season.

I can guarantee that Cardiff, Peterborough, Hull and Barnsley are all happy we went in to administration this season and not last season looking at the league.

You see, going in to administration always benefits the teams around them the club going in to administration whenever that should happen and Wycombe lost out on this benefit, treating it like it was some form of vendetta against them is frankly ridiculous, it's harsh luck but so was Zamora's late winner.

That's football you dust yourself off, get back on your feet and go again, you don't go suing like some Karen that wants to speak to the manager.

I understand Wycombe's feeling a bit harshly done here but what I don't understand why is it with us? EFL hasn't deducted us points for FFP breaches... yet. So are they suing because we went in to administration this season and not last season?? If so, then surely they'd get laughed out of court.

If / when the EFL does give us a point penalty for FFP then again it was not our decision when they actually dock us these points.

  4. Was Poom the last keeper we had that could be considered as one of the best players in the squad? The guy was immense.

Let's be honest whilst decent enough nobody is saying Allsop and/or Roos are our best players.

  5. Flashbacks of Mac a few seasons back.

Newcastle: "We need a new manager, how's Derby doing?"

But in all seriousness they just got took over by a multi-billion pound owner would you seriously be looking at Rooney when you have money to burn? Surely you want a experienced, proven manager?

I would not blame Rooney for walking way from Derby given our current situation.

I wonder who would be brave enough to become derbys new manager if that happened.

    Here's the scenarios ...

    1. New manager arrives, then new owners arrive so likely to be removed from job as they want their choice of manager, not great on that managers resume

    2. New manager comes in but efl want reduced wage bill at Derby so offered less than any other manager in the championship to take the role, already a struggle with club in current position to attract a new manager so who could Derby get

    3. Rooney leaves and the players stop performing because know one is there to motivate them

    4. Any loss of form is a loss of points, Derby are relegated

    5. Rooney could be interested in leaving Derby for a Premier league club with stability and a decent size budget, Rooney might have been told already that there's zero transfer fund in January for Derby.

If Derby are relegated then in my opinion they stop being of interest to any perspective New owners given their debts and the club goes out of business.

Well you're a ray of bloody sunshine. It's just newpaper rubbish.

    where's the ambition though?

Ambition is measured on a club by club basis, Man Utds ambition is to win the Premier League, Norwich's ambition is to stay in the Premier League.

Before the administration our ambitions were always to be like Burnley, Wolves, Crystal Palace, Southampton a stable (for the most part) mid-table Premier League club.

It's nice to dream in football but you have to be grounded and realistic as well, the teams I listed above and Newcastle are also in this bracket mostly get this, mid-table and if Europe (Europa) is close than that can be considered an excellent season but it seems Newcastle fans ambitions are more in line with the Man Utd, Chelsea etc and that's unrealistic.

They were not expecting billions to be spent on players. They were just wanting some form of progress or ambition. Newcastle have been fighting relegation every season and Ashley rarely bought more than 1 player each year, sometimes none at all. He was happy to just remain where they were.

In the Premier League? Yeah, I would be too.

  9. From my understandingly in administration the only outgoing should be essential costs of keeping the lights on as a football club, which is why you see unfortunate layoffs if not deemed essential to this.

They are accountants with the aim of getting the club a new owner. Whilst Mel appealing something like this would have come off as just another Mel vs EFL d*ck measuring contest, the administrators must have found something to prove administration was genuinely the cause of Covid and simply not just another excuse from Mel.

A reduction to the point penalty would increase our saleability after all and administrators would not spend 300k frivolously, so we'll see...

  10. Donnay, Lillywhites, Lonsdale, Carlton, Dunlop, Slazenger, Karrimor, Campri, No Fear, Kangol, Firetrap and House of Fraser all businesses/brands on their last legs that he's purchased.

He knows the stature of Derby and the current market price due to administration and he seems to love a good bail out.

Added by the fact he now has no football club (the biggest sport in the country) for his sport brand, he'd be silly to at least not look at the books, if he's willing to progress further after seeing them remains to be seen but based on his track record it would be very unlike him to not even enquire about Derby in it's current state.

  11. I'm born and brewed in Burton, generations of my family have supported and will continue to support Derby County. Growing up I always had a soft spot for Burton Albion but growing up they were only a few leagues above supporting your local pub team...

Obviously times have changed since I was a child and Derby County will always be my number one team, however if (god forbid) Derby County ceases to be, Burton Albion will become my number one team as the Derby County that I grew up supporting, my father supported, my grandfather supported etc, would no longer would exist...

But I keep the faith that my beloved Derby County will get over this mess.

  12. I obviously don't want us to go down to League 1 but it is a seriously possibility, however glass half full if you look at the clubs that have gone down and had a stint in League 1 bounced back better for it Leeds, Leicester, Southampton, Wolves to name a few, this could also be our turning point.

We've been saying for years we need a squad / club reset, after being a nearly or top half champion club for over a decade. Well we've got that reset now and when all the dust has settled and the tears have dried, let's do it right this time...

  13. 2 and that's generous mainly from Frank Lampard and now Wayne Rooney being with us and he brought a bit of footballing "Hollywood" to us, whether people wanted this this or not it certainly helped our international appeal which can only be a good thing and of course that Leeds win.

That said, even in the early days of his tenure you heard about him going in to the dressing room at half time ranting at the players which is not an owners place or job!

Overpaid on numerous (average) players, was it all Sam Rush? Did he see something that we're seeing now?

Bottom line is regardless of Covid and EFL (every club in the country had to deal with Covid) and I wonder if he wasn't going around like Barry Big baalocks the EFL or Gibson wouldn't feel the need to put him and by extension US in our place...

At heart we're a proud historic club with players, staff and fans all taking pride in being associated with Derby County and I HATE that some of that has been lost now due to Mel and his wheeling and dealing loophole rubbish.

  14. Am I right in thinking that all this transfer embargo rubbish is in place to just frustrate clubs, to stop them appealing and taking it to the courts with the EFL knowing/hoping the length of time appeals take and with an embargo in place most clubs will just bend over and accept the punishment?
