bucktwo got a reaction from Rammy03 in Season's Eve: How will it end?
We will be the surprise team in the division and after an unexpectedly good start we maintain decent progress and finish the season in 5th before losing 6th points due to fielding an unregistered player in the first game . The loss of points means we just scrape into 6th by the virtue of scoring one more goal than Middlesbrough.

bucktwo reacted to Ken Tram in Wayne Rooney
You are right to remind me. It is hard to try to imagine what happens in other circles. Besides, there's cheating going on behind the curtains of every surburban street too.
I do not like it - but cheating in private isn't my concern.
It is the potential impact upon our team. There could have been no models involved. It was the drinking, let alone being unconscious, after a defeat. The need to get the footballers to perform bring what they think is capable. The vital need to improve the coaching.
If someone is on the minimum wage - go home at the end of the day. If paid millions to lead a professional sports team, then do that job, even if the job is delivering good quality entertainment to Derby fans.
I agreed with Rooney when he said that part of Sibley's nature leads to his yellow cards - but it is good nature that makes him play as well as he does.
Footballers can get away with more questionable behaviour if they have sufficient talent.
Rooney is no longer working as a footballer. He is managing a squad of people on obscene wages (in objective terms) - and has to magically lead them to go the extra mile - to motivate them in non financial ways.
I am not saying that he should be sacked of his response is to double his efforts - and immediately demonstrate the leadership and role modelling that is going to be vital to enable a team that is odds on favourite to be relegated.
The team are likely to lose lots of games. How to keep up their spirits. How to get them winning? More practice? More training? Clearer understanding of effective tactics? Or making it acceptable for players to spend time deadening their reaction times with alcohol - and to reward themselves after defeats.

I know a few on here have a blinkered view of Rooney. Some didn't want him here in the first place, some didn't want him as manager which is fair enough, we're all not going to like/want the same players managers.
This is only my opinion.
When Rooney first took over fully we were playing better stuff than under Cocu and we pulled away from the relegation zone.
Then we were hit with injuries to key players which basically ripped the spine out of our team.
Then CKR started carrying an injury but had to play still and we could see he wasn't 100% but we had nothing else.
The results/confidence started to decline and the squad we had after the injuries, any manager would struggle with. Our bench was full of kids.
In my opinion we can't berate Rooney for his final 15 matches when McLaren had the same problem in the season we failed to reach the playoffs, with a far superior squad and everyone was blaming the injuries to our key players in the run in. You can't have it both ways.
If Mac was manager last season he'd have had far far more slack from certain posters than Rooney has had.
Luckily this forum is a tiny percentage of our fan base and those who just don't like Rooney is even less.
I'm not happy with how thing went last season, not by a long shot, but i'm a realist and I could see what shape the club is in.
To put ALL the blame on Rooney is ridiculous imo.
He now has a good pre season to install his playing style on the squad. He also needs to get his players in.
THEN, if after all this we are still close to relegation, i believe he'll walk.

bucktwo reacted to Truckle in EFL Verdict
I was thinking of a way to address the misleading narrative around us and the EFL that is making so many other fans dislike our club when actually they should be worried about when the EFL might come for them. So I wrote this article, if you like it and can be arsed we could put it on a few other fans sites. I bet Mr Pop in Bristol would love it.
