Hi folks, just wanted to post today as it’s a very special day for my family. My dad Paul Simpson retires today from teaching after a 43 year career. He taught at Bemrose School, South East Derbyshire college, Alderwasly Hall and then the Roundhouse. I’m unsure but I think being a local teacher I thought some of you might have heard of him or even had relatives taught by him. 
 
He also happens to be a very vocal person in the North Stand having started following the rams since 1980 when he moved from Bradford. 
 
I organised a series of surprises for him including a signed card from the players , a video message from Paul Warne and the article below. 
 
I wouldn’t normally post this but he’s a huge ram and the backlash teachers get for striking he has remained in the profession for 43 years even after suffering a near catastrophic Subarachnoid haemorrhage.

Its amazing, truly wonderful. Over 20k, probably top 4 outside of the Premier, probably top 20 all in. After all the pain, after all the reasons to walk away, during a cost of living crisis, still we return in numbers. There will be many more who would love to go but can't commit to it. We are very lucky with our fan base, hopefully that'll give us that extra 1% in the coming season that will get us over the line.

Would be nice i Nicko could make a tweet about Martin and Derby so we could have a new topic in the transfer thread. Seems like ages ago since someone started a new Chris Martin thread. A bit worried actually, the forum does'nt really feel the same...

Real shame it didn't work out at QPR, especially since he'd grown his hair to look like Gareth Ainsworth. Oh well, their loss is our gain. Perfect replacement for Didzy. 😉

I am not a huge Collins fan so far but most of our crossing into the box (where he is and should be) was beyond woeful last season so not fair to write him off and not criticize that. Didzy is a totally different sort of player who relied less on that due to his creativity. I also think last season we sometimes didnt always play the simplest or best ball as everyone was so keen to find Didzy, understandably and he/we reaped the rewards. Who knows we may be more balanced as a team even if less fun to watch. we will miss the joy to watch that was Didzy. We need better balls into the box full stop

I’m betting the gold. Gold piping somewhere. That’s not unusual on our kits. 

I’m still a believer in Sibs, if anyone in our team is going to put a season together then it would be him (in my opinion) played in a AM/CF role. I wouldn’t be surprised if he is our best finisher but definitely needs to do something to get himself back on track in order to achieve it.

what an excellent interview. I love this man and his family. I saw his wife in the toilets at pride park and thought it would be inappropriate to hug her but wish I had!
Hope all those moaning and entitled about everything read this and think on to the absolute garbage they have had to sort in the last year. have patience - it will be so much more special if done the right way

Just this. Feel quite tearful even now thinking of that relief and reading some of the stuff this weekend. There will be so much 💩that we will probably never know about

I am proud to say that i have been working with the club on these identity colours, there is going to be a lot more coming, the heritage of our club is something to celebrate, we are not just boring black and white and it is now coming back to the fore 😍🐏
