Absolutely he should get a chance in the championship if he gets us promoted. Would be pretty harsh to sack him if he got us promoted.

Just to make a small defence of Paul Warne, for years we've had managers who, regardless of the opposition, refused to budge on their playing principals. The complaint for a long time has been, "we don't have a plan B"!
Well these days he changes formations, personal, and tactics within the games, to suit what is happening at the time, yet he is still criticised for his lack of tactical awareness.
Another criticism of him is his poor substitutions, but it seems to me that over the course of this season, his substitutions have won us quite a few points.
I get that you either like the bloke or don't, and there will always be some valid points to use against him, but some of the criticism of him seems baseless if you look at the facts in my opinion.

He did play well yesterday, obviously if Warne reverts to a back four then it’s Nelson and Cashin.
Glad he’s picked his form up though, at the beginning of the season both he and Nelson made bad errors (Nelson passed straight to a Wigan player who scored I believe) but I think Nelson stayed in due the right foot left foot combination with Cashin. Then with a run of games and team form improving Nelson got more settled.
Bradley has been involved more in recent weeks and has grown in confidence given the extra game time.

It could be argued that he was tactically aware.
Football is now a game consisting of 15 outfield players, 10 starting and up to 5 'finishers'. There are some games where you need to tough it out against a physical opposition before bringing on your more lightweight players. Sibley and Smith played key roles in the goal, had they started the game, they probably would have been battered into submission.
Statistics seem to back up this theory, Derby substitutes have scored more goals than any other team in this league.
In rugby union when England were at their peak, they would bring on their 'finishers' in the second half, players that were arguably better than those they replaced.

Pay the same way regardless of how the game’s going: no plan B
Change the game to match the circumstances: doesn’t know his best formation.
    He can’t win can he?
I took a long time to warm to Warne - I didn’t really like the David Brent like aspects of his interviews. But that seems to be happening less, and his interviews now are interesting to listen to with some real insight.
What I especially like is that he has fostered a never say die attitude amongst the players, and we seem to have a character that I’ve not seen in Derby teams for a while. We are able to recover from setbacks in a way that we haven’t in previous seasons. Lose a game? Pick ourselves up and win the next. Come up against a team of thugs? Stand toe to toe and then bring out the flash of skill to take the win
It’s not always pretty but I can usually find something to enjoy in a game.

Warne’s current remit is to get us promoted to the Championship and become an established Championship team. Getting back into the PL is a long term goal which we can worry about further down the line. I really don’t understand why you think DC would or should sack the manager he appointed on a long term contract if he achieves the first of those objectives but was not given the chance to achieve the second.

I’m not overly confident that PW will do well for us in the Championship but I definitely think he would have earned the right to have a crack at it. I’m pretty confident that DC does as well.

My gut feeling is that the only way PW will be sacked before his contract expires is 1) we miss out on the play offs this year AND plummet down the league [neither of those are looking likely], 2) we narrowly miss out this season AND are not seriously in the mix after a dozen games or so next season, or 3) we get promoted but really struggle and find ourselves in a relegation battle. The third scenario is the most likely but heck, whatever some of us may think of his tactics or management style, or how much reliance we attach to his track record at Rotherham, he deserves the right to have a go.

edit: I’d go as far as saying getting back into the PL is more of an aspiration than a target at the moment and certainly not something that would be on a managers list of measurable objectives right now.

OK, so I came across as a bit of a dick a couple of hours ago - sorry about the dickishness, but I think that's because I'm from a generation of Derby fans who supported the club through thick and thin - and I still do.
I really wish that we could re-generate the 'Siege Mentality' of the Rooney era.

Why would it be put out multiple times in the public domain if there isn't any truth in it?
For years, even before administration, the club has been crying out to be run sustainably and fornus to cut our cloth accordingly. The catastrophic events leading to administration forced that upon us.
The days of big money signings, stupid wages, bloated squads and contracts weighing us down are long gone. Maybe I am on my own in this but I do not miss this element for one minute and hope we will create a club to be proud of in the knowledge thst players arent here for a paycheck.

Nyambe spent 2 minutes on the deck being treated by the physio, after a full blooded tackle which put considerable lateral pressure on his right knee. I was surprised he was deemed OK to continue, but clearly he was still feeling it. So we lost him for 5 minutes of normal time, and lost two points, instead of perhaps losing him for a few games if he'd further aggravated his knee.
Keeping an injured player on the field is a big risk for the player concerned and criticising Warne for looking after the welfare of his players is obtuse.

As you will know I manage between 6 and 8 games a season, watching the rest here in NL via my RamsTV "season ticket". Friday to Sunday for a game including flights and hotel etc is around £500. The Stevenage game will be #4 or #5 this season thus far. Already booked for a 6 day stay for the Reading and Bolton games in March and coming back for the Carlisle game in April as well. Damned expensive hobby being a Ram. I'd do more games but finances get in the way.
Why do we do it? For me it's many facetted. Seeing old friends (and making new ones) and family in Burton and Derby. Getting to drink real ale instead of lager. A change of scenery and last but by no means least... once a Ram, always a Ram. It's deep inside us and we are addicts, pretty much in the same vein as Del Boy telling Rodders "this time next year...".
Seriously, how do you break a habit of, in my case, 63 years and counting?

Only garbage, in your opinion. We win games and people still want to drag Warne and the players over the coals.
Are you still not pleased? We’ve gone from being 15 points off top to now potentially as little as three points if we win our game in hand.
Which team at League 1 level will be without its faults or weaknesses? None. The key is finding a way to ensure your weaknesses are not regularly taken advantage of.
We have lost two in 17, compared with five in 14 earlier in the season. We have won 12, compared with just 6 in that same earlier spell. So clearly while we are not perfect, we are doing something right in that regard.
I go to as many games as I can. I watch as many games as I can. I’ll be there on Tuesday, for instance. I don’t feel depressed by the prospect. We might play badly and win. We might play well and lose. We might play badly and lose. We might play well and win. I couldn’t call it. It comes with the territory of supporting a team currently in League 1 and their typical limitations.
You say it’s depressing. Would you be happier being in Peterborough’s position, losing their grip on their place in the automatic promotion race? Playing better football but losing 5-2 to struggling Wycombe?

I think there are legitimate questions to be asked around various things, and there is a right way to do that. The next Supporters Charter Group meeting is in March and we've already asked RamsTrust members for questions to put forward, as we do every meeting,  and you always did too @David when you and @Boycie were there.
I don't think the kickback on every club decision is as strong on here as on X, which does seem to attract knee-jerk reactions. We debate both sides on here and you can usually see the middle ground winning out.
My take in recent months is that Stephen Pearce is open and approachable to questions, except on areas where his hands are tied due to legal restrictions.
Many forum members were at the last Fans Forum, and he quickly closed down discussion on those areas, whilst answering all other questions.
Radio Derby haven't had the same access to date as we, the supporters, so I'm not surprised they've asked him for an interview.
Not in the know at all, but I'd expect the transfer window and finances to feature. Our detailed accounts are due out at the end of March, so maybe a heads up on how things are looking.

Not sure which side requested this interview, Pearce or Radio Derby, or even the reasons behind it.
It does not take an hour to say I'm legally bound to not discuss anything that the fans would like to know, and that could be with a number of parties be it Mel Morris, the EFL, David Clowes, Quantuma etc. This will be completely normal within businesses. Frustrating from our side, yet you have to understand that we will never be privy to the "real inside story".
It will, I imagine, be a repeat from the fans forum which will only reignite the debate of whether or not he should be at the club, is that really necessary at this stage of the season?
Forgive me if this discussion is still taking place on other platforms and Pearce/Radio Derby felt it was important to respond, attempt again to draw a line and move on. Which on this forum regardless of which side of the fence you sit on over his current employment status, would appear many have as I haven't seen his name popping up at all.
Even the transfer window the focus was more if anything on David Clowes, not the CEO that will have been doing the deals.
With regards to the apology for that period which some are looking for, you could put a case forward that either he feels the club did nothing wrong, retrospective rule changes show this and does not want to reopen a war with the EFL when we now have a positive relationship. Or an apology would show weakness, and fuel the theory that he was nothing more than a yes man to Mel Morris.
I guess it will be something we all pick which to believe and roll with it as it's unlikely any, anytime soon at least, we will have any definitive answers or apologies.
Saying this, I will still watch as when the CEO of your club talks, I think we has fans should be respectful and listen to what he has to say even if he says nothing at all.
For the record, it's no secret I had semi regular conversations with Mel Morris, some may think I'm sat on some juicy inside information and knew this was all coming, which I can hand on heart say I'm not and that famous "NDA meeting" was not full of the details people think were shared.
Some of you will remember the shitshow I started on Twitter, that was a genuine belief that the NDA was there simply to cover any comments like Michael Jackson is a nonce for example which would obviously make the headlines once the press got hold of it.
Concerns over signing one were raised prior to the meeting and was subsequently told, would never happen again. At the time little did I know where the club was heading!
To this day the meeting minutes which were to be signed off by the club have not been sent, if I'm honest I would have to go through old emails to try and locate them, which even if I could the NDA would still be in place between myself and the club and can't imagine a scenario where they will be signed off now, especially when it would appear Stephen Pearce is looking to draw that line in the sand.
I personally think from my own conversations that there was a genuine honest belief that the club had done no wrong, we just found a different method of accounting which the EFL rules did not at the time forbid. We were being targeted by the EFL due the public criticism over TV deals and other outside interference which was a personal battle rather than the club itself. Which you could look at the way other clubs have been punished recently and possibly say, yeah, we were a little hard done by compared to others right.
That was just the impression I got for what it's worth.
Any conversations I had were nothing more than how are you and thoughts on the EFL, which you can probably guess.
IF and I say IF as I have only spoken to Stephen Pearce once with regards to advertising on the forum and have no idea where he stands on this, IF he also shares that genuine belief with his financial background, I can understand why he would not want to publicly reopen the wounds and create a new war between Pearce and EFL.
I wasn't going to go down this path when creating a reply, I guess I was maybe predicting potential replies given my position and "relationship" at the time, probably should have just stayed out of it, came this far now to waste this post.
Like Pearce truth be told, I feel that drawing the line is probably the right thing to do and focus on the here and now which when you look at the table is a fantastic position with the opportunity today to strengthen.
