Come on,give Rooney some credit,he planned it all for the sake of the club, sell the pictures to the highest bidder to help pay the HMRC bill. It was only when the highest bid only reached £2.50 he realised there was a flaw in his plan

At least he is consistent, not knowing the best position to play in

Completely different era with completely different standards of professionalism and within a different context. IMO that's not really a valid comparison.

I wonder if it will be classed as bringing the club into disrepute (if it's true) might save MM Six weeks wages, every little helps he said, tapping his back pocket

atherstoneram reacted to Big Trav in Rooney is one of us
It’s clear to see that Mel has abandoned us, rooney and the players. When we eventually do protest either in the game or after the game. I don’t want to see any abuse aimed at rooney. Yes you might not think his tactics are good or whatever you want to criticise him about. But at the end of the day he’s been abandoned. Not allowed to renew contracts. Not allowed to sign players. Promises of takeovers. He should walk tbh. It’s a shitshow. The real problem here isn’t the players or the management. It’s the people at the top MM and SP. there are who we demand answers from. They have severed the ties between the fans and themselves

I don't think, with the money Rooney has, that compo is a factor, people would be saying he walked away from a club in turmoil, he stays,we get relegated and still comes out of it with some credability as being shown a battler for trying to survive in the championship with the poor squad/finances people knew the club was in before the season even started

Probably waiting for a call from Beckham to take charge at Inter Miami when they get rid of Phil Neville

Or it might just open another can of worms when they are submitted, if everything is in order then why wait.

atherstoneram reacted to Tyler Durden in The EFL at it again? Blocking signings?
Why is the EFL the pantomime villain in this piece. It's not like the running of the club over the past few seasons has been beyond reproach.
A lot of the issues we are encountering now lie closer to home than some will care to admit.

atherstoneram reacted to May Contain Nuts in Captain Tom Lawrence
Acknowledge your part in something, show remorse and apologise for it, take your punishment on the chin, show strength and character by overcoming personal trauma (after accepting help, a step many never even reach) and work your way into a position where the rest of the squad respects you, your manager respects you and you might just get rewarded for it.
Rooney's made positive comments about how Lawrence has been with the squad during his time as manager. He was already 'redeemed' in the eyes of those within the club. The captaincy isn't redemption, it's a footballing decision. It may not be a decision we agree with looking in from the outside, but it is the decision that's been made.
I think it's important who the captain is if they've been the captain for 3, 4, 5+ years and had a defence built around them, but the way we handed it around last made it almost valueless. Often when a new manager takes over at a club one of the first things they'll do is seek out the captain to give him a lowdown on the character of the squad, there's power in the role.
Power that I'm glad someone who refuses to do any of the above (and shows exactly what sort of character he really is) no longer has.
Whether you like Lawrence or not, he's made mistakes and the people closest to the situation feel that he's learned from them and is a better person now. 2 years later I'd rather have him at the club than the greedy ****** crying about things being 'unfair' and who still hasn't apologised for his actions because it would have harmed his undeserved payout.

atherstoneram reacted to RoyMac5 in Is this the most depressing period you’ve experienced as a Derby fan?
Nah. Some of Maxwell and the 3 Amigos were worse.
TBH when Longson sacked Clough that was the worst ever.

atherstoneram reacted to CBRammette in Has the transfer embargo been lifted?
I dont know what but must be different to other clubs regarding HMRC default as they are not listed as embargoed because of it except Swindon. No point us speculating really as we are all totally in the dark on state of play with everything!

atherstoneram reacted to Derby blood in Has the transfer embargo been lifted?
Come on, Mel has loads to answear for, why has he not come out and made a statement, he has run our great club into the ground, he loved the attention when things where going better, but now its turned to poo he is nowhere to be seen, how u can defend him is beyond me.

atherstoneram reacted to BathRam72 in Please don’t blame Morris and Pearce.
So we are lead to believe but where is the hard evidence? I for one can't believe that we are being punished for something that was sanctioned then removed. Any independent board would rip the EFL to shreds, that did not happen. There must be more to it

Who knows but perhaps because he didn't make the Wales squad he handed a transfer request in and due to the parlous state of our squad Rooney gave him the armband as a way of keeping him this season
