IslandExile reacted to Sparkle in Bournemouth (H) Matchday Thread
Having a game of football really gets in the way of our season doesn’t it !

IslandExile reacted to Carnero in PODCAST INTERVIEW: Quantuma
They won't even take us to court, the EFL have confirmed in one of the Ramstrust meetings that disputes between clubs are to be resolved via an independent arbitration panel. I'm not concerned about either of these frivolous claims, other than it wasting valuable time of the administrators.

Pah. Pathetic.
Wouldn't be part of such a scheme.
Don't want Derby County's name to be associated with such a scheme. Put your own names to it, you don't speak for Derby fans en mass!

Count me out. This is just pure revenge and we ought to be better than that, apart from the fact that it would do nothing to benefit Derby County.
It’s not going to happen anyway.

Done mate. Set up monthly as well. Seen a I spend a good part of my day here lurking and or making useless points it’s the least I can do.
Thanks as always for your great work and absolute patience with the shower going on at the moment.

I'm fine, honestly, won't lie it's been a frustrating few months but what can you do.
Sure I could have thrown the club under the bus publicly, however the marketing team who I was in contact with were equally frustrated, feel sorry for them having to be at the end of my emails.
I know people will look at the money owed, claim it's some kind of payment to defend Mel and somehow proves that he's had control of the forum, however I can honestly say that's simply not true.
It was for banner ads on the forum which helped to cover the running costs, nothing more.
Mel was not involved in any of the process, nor was there any communication between us regarding the adverts, forum itself or even money owed.
Always been transparent about this.
I've had very little contact with Mel at all for the last 18 months or so until the "NDA" meeting where I contacted him personally to say this is a mistake and would backfire on the club, which it did spectacularly.
As for cost, when we first launched it was a fiver a month, we had 30 or so users and it could run on the basic server.
Fast forward 11 years and we now have over 1.5m pageviews a month we have had to go on our own server which is currently £180pm. On top of that we have Google Workspace for emails, Amazon server to send notifications out, caching.
We also have software renewal fees for security and updates. Domain renewals.
Currently sat in a Liverpool pub to go through the full breakdown, however I've just had the monthly server direct debit come through.

I really look forward to these summaries, @LeedsCityRam.
Can you imagine a player throwing the ball at the referee in anger and remaining on the pitch these days?
Oh, and Brian Clough getting away with talking politics on the Forum. We'll let you off, seeing as it's you, Brian! ?

Matchday 18 – Saturday 20th November 1971 & Sheffield Utd were the visitors to the BBG
The Blades had a fantastic start to the season as a newly promoted club & led the division until mid-October – an impact not unlike Derby’s first season back in 1969/70. Although they had slipped off the summit since then, they came into the game in 4th place & only behind the Rams on goal average..
Pre-match Cloughie column ignores the game & gives his views on Muhammad Ali (or Cassius Clay as he insists on calling him) & politics instead…
Derby’s win kept them in 2nd place, goal average keeping them ahead of Man City who won at West Ham. Man Utd won again also, beating Leicester to keep the gap over Derby to 3 points;

I didn’t see it like that at all.
Mostly because I didn’t go to the game and I couldn’t get bloody Rams TV to work.

IslandExile got a reaction from whiteroseram in Bournemouth (H) Matchday Thread
The point is the likes of Cashin will learn more playing alongside Jagielka or Davies. The older pros will be coaching the youngsters throughout the game.
Preparation isn't just getting game time, it's about being coached.

If you're preparing for League One - or whatever - you still have to have a blend of experience and youth.
Cashin will learn a lot more playing alongside Jagielka or Davies than he will having Brown as a partner.
Kids alone would just get thrashed week in, week out and it would destroy them.

IslandExile reacted to Zag zig in Wayne Rooney
Considering for many years Rooney was mocked how he came across in interviews (and to some extent, still is to this day with the “errmm” comments), I’ve been nothing but impressed with his manner, positivity and the way in which he has conducted himself as our manager in interviews.
We are now seeing the benefit from all the years of experience, he has had handling the media spotlight; so much so, he’s starting to shine with his honesty, integrity and determination to our cause. The jury may still be out for some on his managerial credentials to turn around our fortunes, but he his beyond reproach on his leadership in handling the current situation we are in.
Like you @LeedsCityRam I so hope he’s here and given a decent chance of managing without his hands tied. Some say Cocu had bad luck and never got a fair chance. Rooney has had an even worse stacked deck.
For all his off field antics the media love to trip him up on, as a manager he’s maturing immensely and I’m optimistic all this learning on the job, will be to our benefit next season. He’s no quitter for sure, let’s see if his winning mentality can get us somewhere on a reasonably level playing field to everyone else.

IslandExile reacted to r4derby in Bournemouth (H) Matchday Thread
@IslandExile has already shared a similar line of thought to me. I agree with you that you wouldn’t a team of experienced battlers blocking the pathway of our talented youth players. But a blend is going to be essential. Play the older heads that are going to be here next season, while giving the youth a chance more often. Having a Shinnie alongside Bird gives him more time to pass and create, for example.

Hoping the small number of naysayers will cut CK some slack now. The fact that he's looking to press ahead despite recent events really ought to be heartening and he does seem a genuine guy who is in it for the long-haul. We all need to rally around him and make the guy feel welcome if he does put up as seems very likely.
