A lovely gifted footballer but for me he was just as good the day he made his debut as the day he left,he never improved, got any quicker or stronger.Sadly his talent is unrealised.Just another one who didn’t fullfill his potential .

If he's that good, why were only Watford interested? Big time Charlies like Man Utd and Liverpool throw money at risky signings all the time. Yet only only Watford wanted Hughes.

There's always the possibility that Hughes is not as good as many Derby fans think he is.
I always thought Watford was the wrong move for him. An anonymous club. But if that's the best he could do, perhaps he's just not that good.

I haven't seen any of those posts I'm afraid and i am very sorry to hear of your situation Tyler
Many of us have experience, including myself, of your difficulty.
I am trying not to come across as condescending or all knowing (because I am not) - it is really great that you are talking openly about it. And because of that I know (even if you don't yet ) that you will come out the other side.
One of the keys to it, I believe, is having genuine human interaction. Social media can be great, but its not like the real thing !
If you wanted to meet up and have a chat about all things Derby County I would be delighted to do that. If and when you felt comfortable.

It is funny how daring to enjoy a victory is often categorised as "getting carried away" by certain posters on here.
If we can't enjoy the wins then what the hell is the point?!

Don't think anyone is getting carried away to be honest. It was a good win, an enjoyable game to watch too and folk are understandably buoyed. Emerging from an epidemic, supporting a club enduring a couple of years you could not even make up, most will take their small mercies where they find them.

Why does last seasons form come into it? If we had won 3 out of 3 this season would you say we have won 4 in 18 or 3 out of 3?
And, if you do want to include last season, Forest are now 2 wins in 17 so pretty similar to us.

As the poster of this thread it’s only right to give credit when things go right ,,,, tonight was different gravy and for the first time in a long long time under Rooney I thought we didn’t look clueless and disjointed , first twenty we looked like a team who actually knew each other and we looked to take it to them ,
long way to go and one swallow does not make a summer as they say but credit where it’s due ,

Just wish some people would have the decency to give respect when it’s due. Get the feeling some on here wish we had let in a late equaliser so they can get an even bigger stick to beat him with

Thing is, if Jags himself didn't think he had anything to offer, why would be bother to keep playing? He's made enough money to not need to play and probably had lots of offers to play lower league stuff so I'm leaning towards this being a good thing... optimistic fool that I am.
Not so long ago, a 32 year old was about finished, let alone 39! We now have Ronaldo at 36 as top scorer in Serie A, Ibra still being in the top 10 players in the world at 39 and Chiellieni at 37 still bossing things at the back for Italy. With sports science having moved on and players taking more care of themselves, their careers are much longer than previously.
Let's face it, we could do with a bit of luck so Jags doing a Paul McGrath would be a god-send this season.

Not unless you can show it's the same people and the reason they've returned is a rekindled interest and not any other reason.

My interest in football waned many years ago. Hardly ever watch a match if it doesn’t involve Derby. Can’t even get up for England international games anymore. Football has been ruined by money. I wouldn’t support any other team.

He left because he was told the budget was being slashed. He now works at Millwall where the budget is half of what he was told they were aiming for after his first season here. His "love" for the club didn't survive austerity.

I'd rather Mel spent 100% of his efforts in sorting out the mess with the EFL and selling the club, than got sidetracked sacking managers.
What happened to getting behind the players and staff until that happens?

Can you provide anything tangible to support your comment he is on £90k per week?
I accept there was much media comment of that sum for his playing contract (contra’d in major part by 32 Red) but how do you know that he did not accept an alternative contract when taking the managerial reins. I suspect you really have about much idea as I do. None.

Rooney has had multiple interviews now, where he has been asked the question about walking away. He consistently says no. We have been crying out for stability and loyalty from a manager since Nigel Clough. He arguably has the toughest job of any manager for as long as I can remember supporting Derby (22 years) and despite having a bare minimum squad and having all the problems above him, he continues to show that he cares and wants to do well.
We are starting to see a style of play which is exciting and attacking with the handful players he has.
I think it's about time everyone starts to show respect to him instead of wanting him out. Any other manger would have left us in this mess.

He's sticking with us, we need to stick with him !!
