The most depressing thing about days like today is not the performance which was awful but the fans reaction to it.
Promotion is won over a season. At Bristol we looked like a promotion team. This day we looked bottom half. That’s why overreacting to either game is ridiculous. But the “pitchforks out” reaction after every game we lose is just soooo tedious and it’s always the same people.

It's all hindsight though, isn't it. Without injuries, we'd have enough in my opinion. We have Collins, Gayle, TJJ, Washington and Waghorn. It's just typical that we haven't had more than 2 fit at once nearly all season.

It's a confidence boost to them, yes. But momentum? I wouldn't say so. Bolton have won 2 in their last 7, Barnsley 1 in their last 4, Peterborough lost their last game. Peterborough possibly have "momentum" in their form before losing to Portsmouth, but the form of the other two is hardly brilliant.
It would be a massive up-turn in form for any side to win all of their remaining games. For Bolton that's 7 in a row and for Posh/Barnsley it's 8 in a row. They haven't done that all season, it'll take a massive effort to pull that out of the bag now. For example, Bolton have won 7 league games this year. They've played 16. If they go on to win 7 in a row now then fair enough, they deserve it.
It's really frustrating that we haven't taken this opportunity, but we haven't thrown anything away yet. We still have it in our hands, and whilst we still may bottle it, turning on the players and the manager at this stage, would just ruin any remaining chance we do have.

Don’t be silly none of those teams are winning every game. Pressure is a funny thing in football there’s going to be some strange results till end of season

We haven't bottled anything. Our points per game is still better than 22 other sides in our league, the three sides behind us all have to win their games in hand to get to within 1 result of us.
We can probably forget about Portsmouth now, but I don't really care whether we finish 1st or 2nd.
It's a massive missed opportunity, but it's still in our hands. The constant negativity gets really tiresome sometimes.

    4 will probably be enough.
If we win 4, Bolton will need to win 6 to better us.
Cant see Bolton getting 6 wins out of 7 looking at their remaining fixtures.

We’ve won 2 on the bounce with an aggregate score of 6-0 and gone clear in 2nd, even if others win their games in hand.  We’re now back to psychoanalysing everything Warne and his staff say.  You couldn’t make it up!!

That's just your interpretation of what he said. To me, he was merely stating some "home" truths : at this stage of the season, the fans can help to lift the team when they're struggling (as they have done at times recently) by vocal encouragement; understand that the players are doing everything they can to win promotion and get behind them; we're in a great position now so let's all push together. I heard nothing that suggested he was trying to deflect blame in the event we failed.
I think some of our fans are just looking for excuses to feel offended now.

Let's hope he doesn't get injured in the first minute against Bolton if we save him!
You can't plan to avoid injuries, in my opinion, or your best players would never play.
Warne will do what he will do, and whichever way he goes he will be criticised by some of the fans if it doesn't work but in my opinion, sitting in second place, with a good chance of winning the league, with 9 games to go, you have to be all in for every game.

Most of us know who they are, and they’re entitled to their opinions. If they choose to be quiet and their usual posts annoy you, why bother goading them? There’s no need to sow any division on the back of a great away win, nowt to be gained from it, enjoy the win, enjoy the peace and quiet 🐏

Ahhh you guys 😊 Thank you so much for being so kind. Had some good news today, my mum and dad are going to buy the season ticket as this year’s birthday and Christmas present (as long as I stay on Santa’s nice list 😂). I’m going to pay for the car parking this season in return.

Gisby reacted to Srg in Sibley too good!
And this right here is the crux of everyone's argument. Judge him the same way other players get judged. Who seemingly get to play out a bad performance and still start the next game, often for many games in a row. They don't have to score or assist to keep their place when Sibley does.
Someone mentioned Bradley earlier in this thread and it was a decent comparison. He was atrocious at the start of the season. Up there with one of the worst defenders I can remember. Yet he's played a couple of competent games now because he's been allowed to and suddenly people are anointing him - and this isn't a knock on Bradley, this is just the fact he's allowed to play through a bad game to then show he can play. Hourihane... regularly bad. Collins... regularly bad. Smith.... regularly bad. List goes on, and this is just this past season or so.
Just seems like players come in, be below average and that's fine, they keep playing until they show some worth. Sibley gets judged on a whole different scale by absolutely everyone. I think the days have gone where we thought we had a world beater on our hands, don't get me wrong, but a player who can score like he can from midfield positions could be worth their weight in gold at these levels... so let's find out what we have once and for all and stop bombing him out after a bad 45 minutes.

I don’t think he’s wrapped anyone round his fingers. There isn’t one Warne supporter on here who thinks he’s Jim Smith or Brian Clough incarnate.
Most of us who dismiss the pathetic unworthy criticisms aren’t wrapped round any fingers. There is the simple acknowledgment that we have a manager who is getting results. He isn’t running away with the league (no one is ! ) he does make mistakes (they all will) he has restricted choices but is playing his hand pretty well .. not exceptionally, not genius but he doing a job and developing the squad and tactics as the universe unfolds. He’s on target
