Dean (hick) Saunders reacted to MackworthRamIsGod in Mental health of the most vulnerable fans ... if Derby are relegated
I thought 2020 was a tough year, 2021 has been absolutely mental so far.
5 weeks ago my brother-in-law committed suicide and then last week my wife lost our baby whilst 4 months pregnant and we spent a rough couple of days in hospital having to still give birth. Tough times.
I was at least hopeful Wayne Rooneys Rams would cheer me up slightly on the Saturday, but it wasnt to be.
My escapism has always been the Rams, but at the minute it's like going on holiday to Normanton to get away from it all.

We could do a reality tv show where we give X factor style process to get new manager with cameras following everything around.
May as well go the full circus...

I think lack of access to quality players is worrying more than who manager is right now. This is more important issue.

Between them demanding to see the colour of the Spanish fantasist's money & this potential development, I'm suddenly starting to warm to the EFL ?
The idea that we couldn't attract another half decent manager is risible - sure, it won't be a big name but then we might actually be forced to look for someone with talent, prior experience & on an upward trajectory i.e. the best candidate for the job. Whilst things look pretty shaky at the minute, it won't always be this bad & plenty of ambitious managers outside the top 2 tiers would relish the opportunity to manage here.
From Rooney's perspective, makes sense to leave asap if relegation is a possibility (I don't actually think it will happen) but like I said the other day, the longer he stays with us the more likely it is things will start to clear up for the better. Bit of a double edged sword for those of us who think he is a big problem at the club.

    On Amazon Prime.
I thought it was bloody brilliant.
Jeremy Clarkson is marmite TV, I love him, but even those that hate him might enjoy this one.
Shows a more softer side to him and it’s less scripted than Top Gear/Grand Tour.
Basically without spoilers, back in 2008 Clarkson bought a lot of farm land, the guy he had farming it retired, so Jeremy thought…I’ll give this a go.
Zero experience of farming, you follow him as he learns on the go with a little help from some locals.
It’s actually a real eye opener into the world of farming and it’s future.
Only 8 episodes, 45 mins each. Actually watched it twice now, once by myself and recommended it to the missus who I watched it again with.
    Give it a go.

I find it bizarre that people who don't want Wayne as manager now want Davies as manager. What's the difference? Yes I get he's an intelligent bloke who speaks well but it would be another young manager with no experience. If it went wrong, we'd all be saying the same crap as we have about Rooney.

The LAP can only be looking at the significance of the accounting irregularity though (not the impact on P&S balance) so a points penalty for that on its own would not seem proportional?
If a big points penalty was assigned for minor (which I think is safe to assume it is based on prior rulings) accounting deviation then it would set a big precedent for other things in the future I would have thought. IE If every time a small accounting problem was found in any other clubs accounts they got points would everyone think that is correct.

The litmus test is how quickly we file the restated accounts for 2016-18. As others have mentioned, it seems inconceivable that exercise hasn't already been conducted to 'stress-test' the numbers.
I'm not concerned about the EFL threat to relegate us for 2020/21...even if we haven't come within the 3 year threshold, we can drag it out by a) waiting until the 18th August deadline/2 weeks into the new season and/or b) appeal any sanction which will inevitably delay the process. Problem with option a) is we're under a transfer embargo until those accounts are filed which inevitably means another season of struggle.
Therefore, Wycombe can clear off...they've got zero chance of reclaiming their place at this level. But our position overall is still very unclear until & unless we submit accounts that comply with P&S. If we can not, I'm not sure what the avenues are from a legal standpoint chiefly around 1. damage already done to the club with this protracted process and 2. disputed interpretation of FRS102 & fact EFL and auditors both signed off on the amortisation.
I would add some comments about the EFL's general conduct at this point but I'm not going to waste energy on such a pitiful set of specimens.

We were fined £100k by an independent panel that was appointed by the EFL on the value of amortisation on the players. Which in their eyes meant, they did not agree on the valuation figures. On the very first panel we were cleared on all accounts, so the EFL appealed and had this latest panel (picked by them, and I read somewhere that this panel did not have a finance/lawyer involved). They could not touch us on the sale value of Pride Park. I think that once the season is completed, there cannot be any adjustment of teams points. So I see this has a witch hunt about it and appeasement to make Wycombe and other teams feel good.
The disgrace comes in, on the fact we are looking at the clubs accounting for 2017/18 and 19 seasons. All the accounts for each season were submitted at the end of each season to the EFL which they accepted. The EFL waited until 2020 to lay a charge after constant nagging pressure from a chairman of another Championship team. The EFL have moved the goalposts several times with their rules and regulations and still they get it wrong. Good accounting and shifting of assets is done in lots of companies and not just football clubs.
I feel the panel were under pressure to please the EFL, hence the £100k fine and asking for the accounts to be resubmitted. Giving us a date of the 18th August means the EFL would have a hard job to give us a points deduction on last season when a new season would be already underway. We would also then have rights to appeal, which would then take months of process. By then the season would be into Christmas time or beyond. Yes the EFL are a disgrace, they accepted our accounts every end of season, they wait another year with FFP accounts charge (including the sale of Pride Park). We win the case, then they appeal, set up a new panel and they won't let go.  We were fined on a valuation accounting of amortisation on players not a rule, but a disagreement of our accounting valuation.  YES THEY ARE A DISGRACE

If the points are to be applied retrospectively why is it to last seasons and not to a season it actually relates to?
Also, why should Wycombe get any benefit from a retrospective points deduction, they were in League 2 for 2/3 of the seasons we need to revise our accounts for. Has nothing to do with them or last season. They already got promoted by default.
