Emotionally you would love to think that he’d turn it down, that he’d want to stay and fight it out alongside the lads on the pitch. Rationally however I think there’s just too much baggage and the pull of his boyhood club would be too great.

I totally get that and would not criticise him for taking it at all. Yet again, we’d be the victims of circumstance rather than bad faith.

Agree. Still think Everton would be crazy to appoint him and obviously would not be considering it if it was Joe Shmow who was Derby’s manager right now. Since when has being a former player ever been a good criterion for picking a manager.

Usually it goes terribly. Colin Todd, John Gregory etc..

  2. First time Everton lose a few games on the trot he will come under pressure then probably get sacked.

Wayne will have seen how Frank has struggled to get back in the game, but I think being a manager means more to WR than FL.

Agree he will struggle to turn it down (if offered) but expect he will find it a risky decision too for long term career.

Nearly all established and successful big club managers served an reasonable apprenticeship elsewhere first including some success (promotion for example).

  3. Wait until 31st Jan and sell him and any others then if it gets enough to make us survive.

If we can’t get enough, then it matters naught anyway it’s game over.

Assuming the PB’s want to buy a club and not a shell they should be pressuring Q not to do this.

When you think about it - how has this day gone so wrong even for Derby County ??

Some of us actually believed we could be naming a preferred bidder today, instead we have ended up under a new embargo and with one of our players leaving immediately.

Every-time you think it can’t get any worse it somehow does. Its got to the point where if you don’t laugh about it you’ll cry.

And no doubt most fans from other clubs think we all deserve to feel this way. ??

Percy and Nixon essentially saying the same thing, but one put a dramatic slant on it.

What Percy reports makes sense... EFL need proof we can afford to keep Jagielka before his contract is extended. This basically means we need to announce a PB and get that £5m deposit before we can get anyone in.

I wonder how this impacts the signing of Fielding ?

    This is what I was just thinking. If I step back and look dispassionately at it;

    1) we are asking EFL to allow us to spend money to sign/register players.

    2) EFL know we cannot make it through season without more funds.

    3) Funds come from new owner or sales.

    4) We need new owner or sales.

As long as (big uncertain area of debate/argument/speculation on here) EFL are not obstructing club sale* then…

    5) We need to crack on with club sale or sell players…. We new this all along.

    *Key thing is then this..

  6. This (Telegraph ? even if true) has no bearing directly on naming a preferred bidder right? Surely admin don’t need permission to name their preference.

Need to check they have funds (which we know was requirement to see books).

Need to pass fit and proper test. Difficult to see an issue with the named individuals..

Could be a small delay to resigning Jags at worse? (Optimism gland swelling this evening) ?

But if he's signed a new contract, wouldn't any wage contribution from us be treated as a new contract also and have to be limited by the EFL rules?. Sounds unlikely we'd be paying anything to me, but then you know more about this stuff....

Probably means he’s not on 12k£ A week. QPR won’t be paying him that.

I thought that under current restrictions, we are only allowed to sign a certain number of loan signings.

Fielding isn't a better player than Marshall was for us.

We have none (loans) at the moment.
