    How good is our squad?
If we had a top quality L1 goal scorer then excellent.
As we don’t, then just  fairly decent. (That’s how important that position is)
    With injuries, creaking a bit.

Our squads not good enough to be the top 2 places in the league. Its not good enough to survive or be mid table in the championship.
The squad needs an overhaul. To actually spend money from a transfer budget.
I'd like owner to spend at least 2 million on a rebuild, but I don't see that happening at the moment.

We played some nice stuff in the first half against weak opposition, as we did at times against Cheltenham.
However, the midfield disappeared and the forward line got sloppy. Our defence had to hold on and we had to rely on luck to get us through. If we replicate that in the league, a hammering awaits.
Fornah has had a couple of poor games but is a good player. Hourihane can’t play more than a half these days.
I think we need to play Bird, Smith and Fornah as a three where we have three different skill sets.
I hope the players enjoyed their win and that Warne can take the panic out of their finishing. That debacle with Barkhuisen and Collins showed how low their confidence has fallen with regard to scoring a goal.

Isn't the real reason that pw is unlikely to be dismissed from the club more connected to the fact that he's on a 4 year contract where there could potentially be a large payout if he leaves from an owner who's already spent a fortune saving the club from bankruptcy.
On top of that the owner seems content to keep the club stable.

Home game syndrome. A game where we need to be proactive rather than reactive, where we should be on top and pressing for goals over a so-called lesser team. We struggle, just like we do at home.

I've been wavering for weeks, but now I'm fully Warne out. The longer he stays at the club, the more he will damage it.
This is a results business and the bottom line is that results, for this level, too poor. One win in the first six home games in League One. If he were delivering results, then everything else would have to be forgiven. He's not, so he deserves to go.
The recruitment has been very poor - I do not believe Warne is of the calibre we need to attract better players. In addition the development and use of players is all wrong. Clowes is boldly continuing to invest in the Academy. Warne couldn't care less. The football from the Academy is (thankfully) different from the first team, but there is no route to develop players from the current academy crop to the first team.
The first team philosophy is one of creating chaos and hoping we benefit more from it than our opponents. At this level, with our financial power, we should be controlling and dominating games. Warne picks the wrong players and sets us up incredibly defensively. And plays unimaginatively. It's all just get it wide quickly and in the box quickly - no threat through the middle, and no midfield control. And he lacks the tactical nous to react and change games as he should.
He seems a nice guy. It's disappointing, but he's clearly not good enough to be the manager of our club. Surely Clowes sees it? How long until he pulls the trigger? Surely not much longer.

we dropped down from 2nd to finish 7th though, and now we're down to 12th. Theres a pattern there.
People probably use the word appalling to desribe the performances because they are exactly that. We have only had 24 shots on goal all season in the league. Across 9 matches that is absolutely shocking considering everything we have going for us, squad, fanbase, training facilites, etc.
What does it matter that we were saved from extinction 18 months ago. Football moves on incredibly quickly and 18 months is a long time in that regard.
The performances are boring, way too defensive, lack control, cohesion, predictable, and very limited tactically. We're not even getting enough results to make it bearable.
Do you not think the fans deserve a bit better, paying hard earned money every week to watch this? Your calling some of us appaling for lacking patience yet we've been watching this for over a year now.

Pail Warne’s observation that when we tried playing through the middle the passes got blocked misses the fact that he had the wrong player in the key position. He put Waghorn in the number 10 role, and the lad looked lost. He should be up front, although he is happy playing out wide. This is quite ripe for another pro-Sibley comment, so here it is. He was sat on the bench yet again. Warne acknowledges that Sibbers is the best finisher at the club, so when we are struggling to score, why put him on the bench? His best position is at number 10, but when he finally gets on, 65 minutes too late, it is stuck out wide, where Waggy prefers to be! What if Warne had played a number 10 in the number 10 role, instead of giving the job to a player whose only link to the role is having a number 10 on his back?

In fairness were you actually at the match? We looked in control but wouldn't say we deserved to win easily. We basically created nothing at all in the final third. I think a lot of fans are reaching the end of their tether with the crap performances and the showman interview after a lacklustre display.

2 wins from 13 at home. You've yet to even begin to explain that but of course that would ruin you're theory about Warne needing 'time' when he's already had more than a season

    Slept on it ‘balanced’ thoughts
    positives:
    1) first home game of the season I feel like I can say we never looked like losing. We were so in control we could have played for 900 minutes and not conceded which, even against weak opposition, hasn’t felt true this season before.

    2) Nelson looks better and better as the weeks go on. We’ve got a fantastic CB at this level and a player I hope can make the step back up with us when we need it.

    3) Nyambe is such an intelligent footballer but with all the physical attributes Warne would want from a player. Been a pleasure watching him.

    4) Forsyth is Forsyth. How he keeps going with 0 knees and a resurgence at left back after 2 years at CB. When Cashin looks like the weakest part of a back 4 (and he isn’t weak at all) you know you probably have the best defence in the division…

    5) Fornah showed everything you’d want from someone in his position yesterday he mopped absolutely everything up. Was always there when they broke the lines. My dad who doesn’t really comment on players in the game turned and said ‘that big lad in the middle is tidying everything up’.

    6) Barkhuizen has the pace but also some technical ability to go with it which makes the attack feel like it’s a little bit less kick and rush.

    7) we did dominate the match. Which is what I’d asked to be seeing at home.

    Negatives
    1) no one in the final third showed any sort of real quality at all.

    2) don’t want to single anyone out for having a stinker but there was one player who’d have been frustrated with his performance I think. A bit sloppy.

    3) I’m all for keeping the ball and recycling it if nothing is on (I’ve called for this and want to see it) but on some occasions, as Warne would say, the players needed to be a bit braver and trust their team mates with a firm pass forwards to them in the middle. Trust them to control it and move it on even if they have a few players around them because that’s how we’ll pull teams apart who are happy for a point.

    4) the balance up top isn’t right. I’d rather see a focal point with NML and Bark either side of them with an actual creator playing behind them rather than having 2 strikers.

The last point which is neither positive or negative is that we held a team off at arms length who would have snapped your hand off for a point. Can we do this firstly away from home? Can we do this against a Barnsley or a Bolton etc?

He's a disgrace to this football club.
I think the fans can put up with midtable if they can see us trying to play actual football & bringing through youngsters & can see progress.
Warne isnt a long or short term solution. His football & tactics are terrible & i have no trust in him to take us forward or have another transfer window.
    Its worse than Phil Brown

Genuinely at what point aren't we a work in progress? What points in this division would be unexpected? We've won 2 of the last 13 at home I believe with 11 goals scored. That's really not good enough. I think many fans are starting to have enough of the turgid Warne ball which is being served up.

Oldben reacted to Comrade 86 in Warne: what would it take?
It's not binary though, is it? The entire premise overlooks a bracket into which I'd wager the largest sector of fans fall. The pro and out camps on here just seem the most prevalent because they make the most noise.
My hunch is that a largest number of fans are simply undecided and want to see how Warne progresses with this set of players; others may be concerned that if we are not successful this season, compensation for the remainder of Warne's 4 year contract may not even be viable; doubtless others just think that sacking managers without affording them the chance to build their own team is braindead and what got us here in this mess in the first place; there's probably even some who wonder how we'd look with a squad less injury stricken. Let's be clear about this; none of those views necessarily constitute them being pro-Warne, nor do any render them happy clappers.
Bit of a tangent maybe, but let's be honest here; it's dead easy to say drop the gaffer, pay the compo and find us someone better when it's not you that's footing the bill. It's not nearly so easy when you've already spaffed £52 million saving the club in the first place.

With the best will in the world I'm never going to run as fast Usain bolt. To run as fast Usain bolt I'd need to actually be Usain bolt.
We can want derby to be automatically promoted this season. Last I checked pw didn't have a sizeable transfer budget to spend in the summer.
Next summer we could lose 12 players due to them being out of contract, but how many of those who could leave would we actually want to keep?
With the best will in the world pw can do his best with this team, yet there are areas we could have strengthend a lot if we spent money.
This club needs to spend close to the highest transfer budget in the league next summer. That will strengthen the squad and give us the best chance of promotion.
That might not happen, our owner, as I think, wisely doesn't want to spend crazily like Mel did. He spent a fortune bailing derby out of a bankruptcy situation.
That said our owner will see that investment is required to promote the club.
This season, I think we will repeat last season albeit we might actually make the play offs.

Whatever way you spin it and wherever you attribute your blame, the present squad (even without the injuries) and the management of it falls short of the standards required for automatic promotion, or even a comfortable position within the playoffs if asked to play the style of football the manager wants when looking at the attributes in the squad, which is what we've stated (on multiple times and by multiple people) we're aiming for.
It could all look very different in a week and a bit but currently we look to be in a bit of a mess and with no obvious solution (or at least none solution which doesn't cause problems elsewhere - even/especially changing managers), which will require some VERY good management to get out of, but we seem to have neither a clear plan or any reason to truly believe that we're in a position to get what we need to achieve our aims.
We really shouldn't have been in this position after all the optimism at the end of last season/ start of this, but what can you do?
I am annoyed, and feel very downbeat about the season ahead, but can't see the point in picking everything and everyone apart anymore or raging at individuals, anayalyse their ever word in interviews (just the ones which educate us as to our tactical approach).
It's Derby County, they'll always let you down.
I'll repeat a phrase I used a week or so ago, there's no way out but through.
