    Lockerbie...Sky Documentaries...4 parts

You just don't know who to believe...altho Doctor Jim Swire says it wasn't who we were told it was 😉

John Lydon was due to get that plane but his wife left her passport behind and they couldn't board.  Lucky twist of fate for him.  Never know what's going to transpire.

  2. Bit off a weird one with young players.  Don't really know how good they'll turn out.  Derby let Paul Blades 'go' for a few hours as they thought he might not be good enough to play Division 3 level.  Till Man Utd said if you don't want him we'll have him.  That paperwork never got finalised.  Rooney was letting Cashin go to bring in another player under embargo.

At the other end I remember us signing Moukako who was wanted by half the big sides in Europe.  Think he wound up at Accrington or somewhere.

Best bet is to give as many as possible 10 mins if they look reasonable to maximise an already paltry development fee.

I may have been watching a different Chris Martin but I rarely saw him dominate his centre half opponent when he played with us. He did enough, won about half of his physical  1 to 1 battles, but brought (and still does) so much more to the fulcrum role -awareness of colleagues, deft layoffs and touches setting up moves, excellent finishes. He was given one half chance all game and nailed it.

He brings something to any team, but one which is set up with intelligent and energetic midfield and wide runners fit him like a glove.

It goes without saying that DCFC 2023 is about as far from that sort of team as you could get !

Always struggled with the bruisers.  McClarens tactic against the Hanleys of the world, was to let Martin battle away without much joy till 60 minutes and then bring on the often maligned Sammon to knock crap out of them and run them into uncomfortable positions leaving space for Martin and midfield runners against tired defenders.  Worked well normally.

If he has to go then we need a decent prospect loaned back at no fee, on top of the compo. So sick of the big clubs just siphoning off all the young talent for beans, then sticking them in cold storage for 3 or 4 years before flogging them off at profit, having never let them play at senior level.

This independent review needs to sort this sooner rather than later as it's a crooked game right now. That said, if the lad wants away, there's really not a lot we can do, but it makes me sad to see these players leave without ever even getting near to the men's team.

Don't forget the sending out on loan for a couple of seasons to get back any fee laid out first.

Been discussed before, but we had ZERO chance of keeping hold of Gordon, Delap and Kellyman (unless you argue, reasonably that if we were better run and not gone into admin, the administrators would not have had chance to sell him).

Realistically if we turn up genuine superstars from the academy then whatever DCFC do, there is a high probability of them being poached. They tried very hard with Gordon and failed.

As far as I've been told this lad basically had to be pushed out the door.  I'll give you the other two.  It's almost as if having a Cat 1 academy highlights the better players and you're better off not bothering at a cost of millions.  Hendrick, Huddlestone, Hughes etc would have been gone before they kicked a ball for us.

Is that because next season it will be 3 teams dropping in from the Championship, where as this season, they only dropped from... erm... oh!

    🤷‍♂️

Coventry, QPR, Sheff Wed, Huddersfield, Birmingham and a Rotherham who know our manager inside out all looking favourites to contest that drop at the minute. That's a tough selection to navigate as well as a Bolton, Barnsley, Peterborough, free spending Oxford etc of whom two or three will probably be still here.  No bankrupt Readings or minus point Wigans next time round.

He may have slowed down by then but the sheer distance would have made him still difficult to get round......

To be fair, he was very good as you'd expect with all those professional games.  At the time I was 21, quick and quite handy.  Not normally centre forward but filling in.  Gave him the run around for 10 minutes till he got his positioning and he could read the space I was moving into to without needing to do much chasing. Didn't get much change after that.  I'm pretty sure Larry Lloyd played in that game as well.   He waxes lyrical about his distaste for Derby, yet for some reason he spends his entire feckin life here.  Even the teams he played for.  I'm sure the photos in question would show a  Derby Tattoo he's kept secret all these years.

I don’t actually mind the Villa final

I don’t know if it’s because I was at Elland Road for the semi and knew nothing could top it

I actually thought we'd probably lose to Villa as they were flying and was even more in that camp when I saw the starting line up .  Roos pissed me off making it easy for them and I got more pissed off when Marriott came on and Mings s*** his pants for 25 minutes, when he'd previously spent the game pushed up on the halfway line scratching his arse.  Was always going to be a tight game though in the toughest playoff set of teams I can remember.

The QPR and Leicester ones were proper awful as I'm sure in both cases we'd have stayed up and built.  Redemption was quick after Leicester.  Not after QPR.

We had a real chance in the year we played Hull and should have gone up.  That Ipswich injury too Thorne was crucial, followed by the ridiculous 3rd Hull goal at the end of the game at home.  They were crap.

  9. Seems the cost of Plymouths promotion season was about 18 million quid .  They lost 3.5 million last season.

Not sure how that compares with us last season or does this season.

Seeing as they sold a player to Ipswich and had not much in the way of purchases, it's more than I thought.

He does have the bonus of course of getting a side to the Championship that were even smaller than Rotherham and actually keeping them up for two seasons.  He likes to get past the first rounds of proper cups as well, semi final being the favourite.

He can find a bargain as well.  Think our net spend over 4 years must have been about 2million and he reduced the squad by half, cut the wage bill in half, brought through some youngsters we got 16 million quid for and brought the average age down by about 5 years.

On top off that he mightily pissed of Forest fans by turning down the chance to manage them and stay here. Then they went all non league Nigel on him and started having have an annual day for the demi god that was Fawaz.

Bloke did a good job on the whole. His last few games where I suspect he knew what was coming clouds the water.

    Full frontal Kenny Burns?

Centre fold I'm assuming to avoid too much of a squeeze.  Felt every sweaty morsel of that for 60 mins playing against him in the mid 90's.  An experience not to be forgotten.

According to the club website. we'll be drawn against one of Liverpool u21, Forest u21, Port Vale or Fleetwood.

A 25% chance of playing the most embarrassing fixture in the clubs history. Buzzing.

If we draw Forest and have any thoughts of playing anyone with more than 3 first team appearances and over the age of 22 that will be horrific.

Too late for what? This season? If only there were another season!

Roll the dice again - see what happens. Probably see you back here in February calling for another manager to be sacked for not winning every game

I honestly wonder if people support the same Derby County as me. Not that long ago we almost didn't have a club and now half the fans are losing their minds because we aren't Man City already

They're really not are they. Not wanting to spend another year in this turgid league, especially as it will be harder to get out of next year with the clubs dropping in, is rather different to demanding premier league titles and European titles.

Rico Lewis looks about 12 years old.

I struggle with internationals nowadays when players can get full caps after 10 games in a clubs first team and play in full internationals then change countries.  The latter probably influencing the former .  Back in sepia times when I started watching, a player would need a couple, maybe more, years of first team football playing consistently well to get a cap.  It's all a bit like climbing Everest nowadays.  Not what it was.

Warne says a lot of things in interviews that make little sense, to try to make a joke or just for effect.

I'm here with Derby manager Paul Warne.

Paul, can you put your finger on our performances this season are so horrifically inconsistent despite signing 11 players to make it very much your team.

Unbelievably heard Paul Hawksby and Andy Jacobs on TalkShite this afternoon saying how breaches of FFP should be fines rather than points deductions because taking points away penalises the fans; financial shenanigans are nothing to with fans and so should be fines instead.  Can't remember the media coming out in sympathy with DCFC fans when we were having points deducted left, right and centre. Quite the opposite in fact.  But, of course, this a premier league club so have to be treated differently to lowly EFL scum.

I remember a couple.  Bit like I remember Ian Wright going on Talksport and talking about Derby being a club with substance and people were treating us appallingly, during their Lampard to Chelsea two week w***-a-thon.  Spoilt their mood a bit
