Dordogne-Ram reacted to Spanish in The coronabrexit thread. I mean, coronavirus thread
this is my view I am not getting into the tennis that was played in the first version.
I read that Sweden changed direction after the first wave because they recognised it was wrong
I read that brazil are in a terrible position because the leader is a denier.
I believe that wearing masks and applying other controls has saved many lives of those who required hospital treatment.

I think some are focused on the rear view mirror when there are still teams in front of us that may make a difference

Which is what we are doing now. But fans will moan about that when they have endure mid table mediocrity (as an aspiration). Remember the Nigel Clough years and protests outside the ground at GSE?! And they ran the club responsibly.
Mel tried to get us out of this league. He’s stood by the club bankrolling it and not walked away until a buyer is in place. He made some big mistakes early on with signings and managerial appointments that has ultimately cost him and us down the line - not helped by ridiculous FFP rules. But he’s done it out of a need of trying to compete with clubs with parachute payments. Right intentions always, yes he’s made some mistakes, yes he’s not immune from criticism but some of the flak he gets is unjustified.

And become a beggar amongst beggars. This is not Mels doing. If you can’t see the warped structure that lead to this over the last 15-20 years then I think you lack insight and logic. Anything Mel has done he has payed for in full. Finger pointing at the man man who’s used his piggy bank ( not very well) to try and realise some ambition is churlish. Ok so it didn’t work and the piggy bank is empty but all you bought is a ticket to a game. Mel has probably spent 20% of his net worth. He’s bailing out, I don’t blame him. He tried manfully

Dordogne-Ram reacted to Brammie Steve in Relegation watch
Our fans have always made a point of encouraging OUR players.
It never used to be a case of a) Intimidate the other team and/or b) boo mistakes made by our players.
This iconoclastic spirit seems to have insinuated itself into every strata of society in this millenia,
Everyone lauded by history as a hero now has to be 'outed' as having had feet of clay or merely out for their own ends and gratification.
I used to find the PopSide a friendly place to be even when fans mingled and I found myself next to visiting fans.
I would not like to be part of an intimidating aggressive crowd.
If that were my criterion I would probably support Millwall, Chelsea or Leeds!

On 21st March 1973 Derby beat Spartak Trnava 2-0, to go through 2-1 on aggregate to reach the semi final of the European Cup.

I think that I might have mentioned before how commonplace it is for Asian people to wear masks out and about during flu seasons. They have had more experiences of various viruses than us.
I find it a bit inconvenient as I wear specs and don't find the anti steam sprays work well, but I think that I will keep doing it in crowded places for the foreseeable future.
I had pneumonia a couple of years ago from a relatively harmless virus and was ill for several months. If wearing a mask helps me to prevent a recurrence of that, I am all for it.
And hopefully helps me to stop spreading germs as well.

Welcome.
I'm glad the puns haven't put a new member off contributing to the East Midlands foremost football forum.
It's worse elsewhere, I'd red Leicester have even worse on their forum, at least you'll brie amongst friends here.

I think it's a good sign that even if these players don't go on and play much for us, they still can make a career from football.

That's as likely to attract young talent as the headline-grabbing kids who make the first team and elite football. Much easier to convince prospective families to sign if they can see that even if they don't make it here, there's a tradition of making a respectable career in the professional game.

Dordogne-Ram reacted to angieram in Louie Sibley
But I don't want to see him on the wing I want to see us play through midfield with some attacking intent. It says more about the way we are set up than anything, no place for an attacking midfielder in our team!
And as for him not showing it in training, I am sure the current players aren't being coached to be so negative on the pitch but they keep doing it and aren't being dropped.
Personally I would like us to take the hand brake off and start playing to win. This solid defensive approach is hardly working lately and you can just see the confidence draining out of all the players, not just Louie.

Dordogne-Ram reacted to Bald Eagle's Barmy Army in Louie Sibley
This time last year most people were saying build the team around Sibley. This year we've swapped and changed formations that many times, yet Rooney still can't get him in the team.
He's one of the most direct forward playing players that we have at the club (something Rooney keeps saying that we're lacking) and the only one that consistently wants to have a shot on target.
Let him get a red card, at least he shows some fight in his belly whenever he puts the shirt on.
At the moment for me, it looks like bad management with a very promising player.

Dordogne-Ram got a reaction from Mucker1884 in Derby County on this day
We also still hold the record attendance at Lincoln, 23136, 4th Round League Cup replay, 3-0 to the Rams , the famous 1967-8 season, when we lost to the dirties in the semi final.
Lincoln fans chucking bricks at our train afterwards- the one which hit our window thankfully didn't make it into the compartment ....

I agree or can relate with most of this bar the captain bit.
I think being club captain is a lot more than just pulling rank in this instance. There's a huge amount of responsibility to be the leader of the playing staff, not just flipping a coin twice a week. The title could be; Captain, Team Leader, Manager, CEO... whatever - all these titles should be filled by people who lead by example and adhere to the values expected of their positions. Can Richard say he did on that night? Couldn't have been further from what was expected of him. He was the most senior ambassador for Derby County at that time, accountable for his squad and their actions. To say he shouldn't be treated any different is wrong in my opinion.
I'm a huge fan, wish him all the best with his career. He's been one of our better players for years, despite the denial from a chunk of the fanbase and we'll miss him (currently are IMO) so theres no bad blood from me. I just feel like he let himself and the club down by letting events spiral into what they did. This compounded with sending his agent onto national radio despite not releasing any form of statement? Is he even sorry? Has he taken any sort of responsibility for it? Its just ended messy.
Maybe the biggest factor behind sacking him was financial but the accountability and responsibilities he had as captain would have also played a part. Doesn't matter what profession you are in, if poo happens on your watch you'll be held accountable and rightly so.

Dordogne-Ram reacted to Ellafella in Lee Buchanan
Yes indeed. I think he is a huge talent. He has a great low centre of gravity and a beautiful “golf swing” of a left foot; and a hugely powerful shot on him. He’s been desperately unlucky not to score goals - that pile-driver cleared off the line v B’mouth away (?) when the defender seemed to “lose consciousness”. His one-on-one the other night was probably the goalkeeper making a good save rather than poor finishing. It’s a very good point you make @Anag Ramabout attacking in isolation - quite often we get down the flank only for the box to be white-shirt less. Wazza will be working on that.
LB is also noticeably good in the air and leaps very well. He also is very supplie and athletic and needs to guard against losing that in favour of more muscle.
Ive always been a huge fan of Fozzy at LB who I think is the consummate professional and long may he continue. That said, I’m becoming also a huge fan of LB who is turning in to quite a superb footballer.

Dordogne-Ram reacted to Normanton Lad in Antisocial neighbours - anyone else suffered?
The rule seems to be the further away from your neighbours you are the better you will get on. I think it is unreasonable to expect people to be reasonable.
Whatever nonsense my neighbours get up to I try to keep smiling and I keep on good terms with them. I've had neighbours who have taken thousands off the value of my property with their silly extensions and I've had neighbours who have tried to grab part of my garden, but I never fell out with them. Anger and worry can destroy your physical and mental health. I view these bad neighbours just like I would a wolf or a rat who acts according to its nature. They can't help themselves. If they have been selfish or mad people all their lives nothing you do will change them.
If you need a peace and quiet buy somewhere in the countryside even if it is a one room hovel. I've lived in the countryside and for me nothing can beat living somewhere where the only noise you hear at night is owls hooting.
