europia reacted to Carl Sagan in Accrington Stanley v Derby County Matchday Thread
I would have dropped Hourihane for his handball last week, but it didn't matter as finally we got to see Louie Sibley in his best position anyway. I'm so pleased everyone saw it. Play him in midfield every week (a good combo with Bird and Knight as they do complement each other) and we will be promoted. Football's a simple game really.
Very happy for Wildsmith and Osulu too.

The main benefit of L1 football (so I thought) was football matches at 3.00pm on a Saturday. Sky has ruined English football, top clubs are owned by faceless obscenely wealthy foreigners, and most players are self serving mercenaries.

After watching the amazing finishing in the training video, I'm wondering if I should change my score prediction for Saturdays game ?

Think you are correct about Bird. The armband doesn’t help some players but I am sure he will find his form soon. I don’t think Paul will pick players that are not 100% fit due to the amount of running he expects them to do. Loads of goals in this league come from daft mistakes and I don’t expect tomorrow will be much different.

I actually may be able to attend now. I unfortunately could not go on the Saturday as i was duty bound to go to a wedding of a friend. I am happy to do a dirty protest if I go. Just for the record I am a West Sussex Ram. A cut above the Hampshire variety.

Port Vale fans told us last week that we are not famous anymore.
Has no one told SKY?
We haven't got Frank Lampard, Phillip Cocu, Ashley Cole or Wayne Rooney nowadays. Please someone tell SKY to eff off and leave us alone.

Pride is actually a very relevant name nowadays, if you like that kind of thing!

europia got a reaction from David Graham Brown in James Collins
Forcefully hitting the ground in frustration while sat on the ground with no one around you is one thing. Doing it while entwined with the opposition defender not so clever. Collins gave the ref a decision to make and that decision was a red card. Regretfully it could cost us more points, since we don't have like for like back up for Collins, who was starting to come good.

If we are able to sign a couple of players to fit the 'Warne style' in January, we could finish in or around the play off places ?

Rome wasn’t built in a day. Think back to what Nigel Clough built. His foundations lasted for 6 seasons after he was sacked. Have faith & patience. Paul Warne and team have what it takes - it won’t be instant but it will happen. Have faith - I think we will see exponential growth around February 2023. I predict Jake Rooney will blossom this year & with one or two smart additions and the consolidation of a real team ethos & culture, we’ll finish this season very strongly. Fans need to keep supporting and keeping the bonds strong. It will happen.

This. You need a battler or two in there, even in the championship.
Sadly many seem to think being technically more gifted is the answer, it’s nice but you need the grafters willing to do the dirty work as well and we don’t have many.
I think Smith will help when he’s back to full fitness.

europia reacted to Anag Ram in Best midfield in the league
Only Knight has the physicality for this division. Hourihane lacks the zip and the fitness to play the game we need him to. Bird looks short of confidence. He doesn’t look like a player who’s having fun.
We need more bite. I think Rooney is worth trying there.

europia reacted to SamUltraRam in Comparison with 1985/86 Div 3 promotion season - game by game
I thought i'd show a comparison to our promotion season from this division in 1985/86 for a bit of fun. I'll try to do it game by game if there's any interest to read it.
Game number 9 was a 2 - 0 away win at Cardiff City & took us to 13 points - so we're ahead of that. Attendance was just 3,435 at Ninian Park
We'd just beaten Div 1 Leicester City 2 - 0 in the 1st leg of the Milk Cup
It appears that you could only name 1 substitute then as well which surprised me
Starting lineup:
Goalkeeper Mark Wallington
Right back Charlie Palmer
Central defender Rob Hindmarch
Central Defender Ross Maclaren
Left back Steve Buckley
Midfielder Steve McClaren
Winger/Midfielder Gary Micklewhite
Midfielder Geraint Williams
Forward Trevor Christie
Forward Bobby Davison
Winger/Midfielder Jeff Chandler
Substitutions: Paul Blades for Steve McClaren

Hopefully our attendances and general financial Loveliness will give us some wriggle room to pay small fees.
Without a relaxation of or constraints we will be struggling to bring many in.
