DCFC's days as a top flight club are gone, but our rich history and the clubs heritage is built on those glorious days when we were up there competing the best in England and Europe. 
 

We should have slaughtered them today - we didn’t because we didn’t score enough goals from loads of chances 
but - our defending was shocking and desperate far to often - even at 1-0 we get 3 points and we most certainly should have at least won that game 1-0 

I think we’re an above average div1 side which has under achieved 

Bielik is not worth this obsession  from us.

Don't get me wrong, a win is a win but the style of play was shocking. Obviously playing to orders but awful high ball...... Don't like it one bit. 

Warne, and to a degree Barker, were footballers in the lower leagues (Div 1 & 2), who through hard work and high professional standards had pretty good careers. Fans liked them because they gave it their all, and were no doubt good characters. They bring the same mentality into their management roles, but they have the same limitations they had as footballers. I think it unlikely that they have the wherewithal to succeed at Championship level, nor be able to offer any significant technical insight into player development via the Academy structure.

I would say things have gone pretty much as expected since PW arrived. If anything pushing for the play offs slightly exceeded expectations. He seems a decent manager at this level. 

Hope so or they might not try to win. 😋

I tend to agree with your observations. Promotion this season was always going to be a tall order, so being in and around the play offs at this stage is a fair achievement. Next season, Warne will probably be able to 'beg, steal or borrow' players with the physicality and energy to suit his style of play. We can then hopefully move up a few gears and push for a top 3 or 4 position in this league.

Sibley, Barkhuizen etc need to be quicker to respond next week to be in with a shout of starting next week.

I hope Ipswich get automatic and we get in the play offs. I don't fancy playing them in the play offs because they are better than us. 
I have been critical of Warne, his team selections and tactics. But yesterday i don't think it would have made any difference,  Warne made 5 subs and not a scrap of difference. Ipswich were still better than us. 

But the reason we were slaughtered is because Billy sabotaged our season before it even started. He is famously quoted as saying at Wembley  "It should have been Preston's ribbons being tied on the trophy". He then went on holiday for who knows how many weeks, so when he finally set about bringing in Premiership quality players, they'd all been signed up, and we had to make do with what was left (ie the ones nobody else wanted). In addition he tried to take on the Premiership teams with his hoof-ball tactics, which only worked the once when Wimbledon surprised everybody with those tactics), and most certainly don't work when all you've got are Championship quality players. And in the middle of all that he started engineering his dismissal with regular statements to the media about needing the club to back him, when there was actually very little more they could do. He was duly sacked, leaving Paul Porno to take over the reigns of the hamstrung horse.

As you say, not a tactical genius. That could could be a key factor in limiting the clubs potential to achieve promotion. Time will tell....

We will scrape into the play offs, but probably fail to make the final. Next season we should be better prepared though.

He scored 3 goals for Cardiff in 26 appearances  last season - we knew he was poor when we brought him in. Of course
we had limited choices but he is quite the worst centre forward we have had for years. No hope with him, though Warnes tactics
don't help.
