You’re  right, that’s exactly what it is, however, a professional organisation should not look as if it’s on a mission to punish a member club, a bland statement saying following legal advice there are no grounds for an appeal would have sufficed.

Surely that statement means that we didn't break the existing rules?

How so? If we fail FFP with our revised accounts, we’ll get a points deduction anyway regardless of if they’d appealed.

I think it is simply a case of, as their lawyers say, they do not have a strong enough case to appeal the punishment already handed out. Any penalty for a subsequent FFP failure penalty is totally separate.

we hate the boys in red and white

Their statement is pathetic. If your own lawyers are telling you there’s no grounds for appeal (as DCFC had said in their own statement a week ago), then carrying on talking as if we’d done something worth a points deduction is deeply unprofessional.

Prattling on about rule changes due to something we’d done is also unprofessional. They drafted the original rules, and could easily have said straight line amortisation is the only permitted method. The fact that they didn’t is their own oversight.

    Petulant, idiotic organisation.

Given that the EFL are in charge of the rules, who are they pressing for a change from?
I suspect that the source of the deep disappointment is the shredding of their reputation as a competent regulator....

Appealing would simply prolong the process and with it the embargo and would likely end up costing us a deal more than the notional £100k fine. I can't see it personally. With new owners waiting in the wings and a new season only weeks away, it's time for the club to get back to footballing matters and to leave the wonderful EFL ruminating on how 'regrettable' it is that they've failed to drag another member club into administration. I'd also wager that we're about to find out that Wycombe's owner is all bark and no bite too.
As for those claiming we're still 'screwed' would you care to show your workings? Given you seem so intent on making sure fellow Rams remain unsettled and concerned for our future, I think it'd be only fair if you offer some plausible numbers to indicate whether and by how much you calculate that we've overspent.

For them to use the word regrettably when their own legal counsel told them there are no grounds for appeal is ducking outrageous, unprofessional and proves they are out to get us based on some twits opinion rather than cold hard evidence.

Because the EFL still dislike us as much, probably even more than they did yesterday. Again they've tried to come after us (rightly or wrongly) and not got the result they want. The statement highlights that they don't agree with the punishment, but they don't have the grounds to appeal.
I think it'll be telling now, as to how quick we are to submit our new accounts. I have no idea how long it would take to prepare what is required, and I don't know how long ago we started to prepare them. If we are still compliant with FFP then I would like to hope we would submit them as soon as possible to fully clear any uncertainty, lift any embargos and get on with the takeover and whatever signings we can afford to make. If we're going to fail on FFP, we will probably wait to submit as long as possible.
However, if we now know we are in the Championship next season, and our new accounts fail the P&S rules, then I would hope we would still submit sooner rather than later. If we end up with a points deduction either way as a result of that, why not do it early and get rid of the embargo, rather than be restricted with recruitment for the entire window, only to receive the deduction any way?

I wouldn’t take the punishment out of principle, but then I can understand why the club would just to settle it and be allowed to move on.
Whilst you have the likes of Gibson and Wycombe threatening to take legal action, the EFL will continue to appeal to show they have done everything in their power.
My concern now is there is genuine tension between the club and the EFL, this might calm once Mel has completed the sale of the club, just fear that we will be scrutinised for any minor infraction now and on their radar.
With the club statements made, we have embarrassed them, shown the EFL up as the incompetent organisation it is, and that will have ruffled some big feathers.
Some would argue, we should have kept quiet, rolled over, but let’s not forget how this tension really all started, way back when Mel was the one actively fighting for better TV deals to benefit the entire Football League gaining support along the way.
I agree with @Dan_Ram, as fans of this club we should be doing our bit to change the narrative to the real issue here which should be a huge story.
Unfortunately though, the vocal fans we do have are using their voices to continue with their anger towards the club from top to bottom.
We have no chance of this happening and I find that kinda sad in all honesty, doesn’t feel like we have any togetherness at all right now. Some will argue that’s Mel’s fault for the way he’s run the club, but that’s missing the point here which Dan has made in this thread.
When you see other clubs like Leeds for example, blatantly cheating with spying on training sessions they were out in force over Derby forums and social media defending their club.
Us? We even had fans saying so what, they spied on our training sessions preparing to play them and that’s the difference.
Keogh, rather than look at what he did to this club, we have fans out there going through employment laws section 2b on page 456 that says we did wrong.
Forget the fact that the club captain refused a taxi home and stayed out with young lads, one of which had been drinking to get over the loss of his mum, get in a car with them.
No no, 2b in the employment law, page 456 ffs says we should have sacked them all, wanting us to write off one of our most valuable assets that could still perform for the club and actually needed an arm round him, some support as the young man tries to get over the loss of his mum.
I really dislike Leeds, REALLY dislike Leeds but I can’t help but respect the togetherness through right or wrong, that is there club and nobody shall attack it.
I’m sure you could link this to the atmosphere between the 2 grounds as well, feels like we’re waiting to boo rather than get behind the team.
As a disclaimer to this I do feel there are times when you cannot support, a player that has been racist for example, found guilty, but in fairness I don’t think he’s been that popular since with them.

Good point though it is mainly our supporters sayin we should just take the punishment and move on. We would take the punishment if only the efl would let us. They won’t.

This is just yet another horribly biased news outlet that has the sole aim of generating cash from a divided society. Outrage news
The fact that within one page of talking about it - the arguments have started says it all
Life won't get better until we learn to concentrate on the things that unite us rather than letting the media divide us

Quite happy with this. There’s a player in there that for one reason or another just hasn’t quite been unlocked. Maybe a summers rest will do him the world of good. I’ve said before that he is a victim of his price tag... we would all be much happier with him if he was cheap. Hopefully a summers rest will help him and us next season.

Ah, but we were expressly told that he was not the de facto leader of the government, nor was he shaping SAGE and COBRA directives in relation to Covid, as our erstwhile leader was fulfilling that role. Odd given he can only pass the buck if the buck was his to pass in the fist place. Fully agree that he's as culpable but having said that, he's been fired whereas the other fella is sat keeping schtum on the subject in number 10 whilst warbling sweet nothings about the NHS. He must be too busy to respond I suppose... ?‍♀️
Which bits, if any, do you think he's lying about? For all that he's a grotesque, scheming little toad, he's a very intelligent man and I'd venture that there's documentation that will back up his claims. He seems to infer there is.
Meanwhile, Hancock is to be grilled in the commons this morning and we've yet to hear so much as a squeak from Downing Street.
    Doesn't look great, does it?
