Nishfan got a reaction from wingfieldram in Rams Trust: A Letter to the Club
I’m clearly on another planet; I read the club’s statement & yeah, it says what it can, but clearly there’s not much detail they can share at the minute, but I instantly felt a bit more connected again. The line about the lost £20m due to the pandemic really struck me. My daughter & I both said as soon as we read it that we’ll buy the new shirt as soon as it’s out!
I grew up near the Baseball Ground & could hear the crowd from our house. The club is in my blood & always will be so I’ll always do what I can to support its future as it’s our future too ?

Do you know what upsets me most about all this.
The fact that people didn’t trust Mel.

Fair play to them. They can’t really say anymore than that.

Full transparency. I was invited to this meeting, but chose not to put my name or the forums to this.
Reason being as I have previously stated, this forum is a platform for fans views, I am not an elected chairman/spokesman to speak on behalf of you all, simply the creator of this platform for fans views which can already be openly seen by the club.
I did not feel comfortable signing on behalf of the forum without consulting you all, and felt my name without attaching dcfcfans.uk held no weight.
My own personal views are that this letter has been created out of concern for the clubs future and regardless of how you feel towards any of the groups that have signed off on it, do not see this as an opportunity to attack supporters groups for speaking on behalf of Derby County fans.
We all love this club. ?

Nishfan got a reaction from DCFC1388 in Derby County Administration (with the slight possibility of Liquidation still there)
Indulge me on this post - this just came on the radio & sums being a Derby fan up for me!
It’s called Fool again by Westlife.
this is the chorus:
Can't believe that I'm a fool again
I thought this love would never end
How was I to know?
You never told me
Can't believe that I'm a fool again
And I who thought you were my friend
How was I to know?
You never told me
(if you’re feeling really melancholy you could substitute love with club!)
i just don’t have any words to contribute to this debate other than Mel will not want the club’s demise to be his legacy & you can’t believe what some papers print.
I am clinging on to that hope

Mel standing up clapping the players off the pitch, you could hear it as well as see it. That was a big deal

I’m no Mel apologist, I think the writing has been on the wall for a long time. Or atleast from summer through to Cocu’s departure.
But...I don’t know whether this article quite passes a good journalism test and I’m highly sceptical where they get their information from. You have to consider that someone wants that information out there. This isn’t ‘Derby is in a mess, and we’ve seen the figures to back this up’ it comes across a second hand info. It’s more speculative than investigative.
The club is in a dreadful state, and what’s actually been going on is slowly coming to light, but that doesn’t mean I’m gonna lap up every article out there that agrees with that viewpoint without question

I have two reasons for going to watch Derby, firstly im a Derby fan but secondly its the time i get to spend with my Dad, hes been making noises about not renewing anyway, he doesnt like whats involved with getting away as its so busy, so its crossed my mind that ill take him to some non league games just to spend that time and have a beer after like we used to. I guess id do that if the club folded, i cant imagine just switching to another club, i guess that might build up over time
I think you are right there would be a Derby County of some description, no doubt would be a wild ride watching them from non league, i am quite envious of clubs like afc wimbledon, when they got in to the league it must have been such a fantastic moment for their fans.

It wouldn't surprise me if we'd done some kind of gardening-leave type thing, so instead of paying him a lump sum in compensation, we're still paying some fraction of his wages until he gets another job. So maybe if he doesn't get another job for the next 4 years, we might in theory end up paying him £8m, which fits with Morris quote's about it being a worst case scenario.
Likewise, the £20m HMRC bill is presumably deferred PAYE/NIC etc, so it will have to be paid, but they're not going to be demanding it all tomorrow. Many clubs, and many other businesses in general, will have used this scheme, and if HMRC start demanding massive payments upfront, they're just going to cause mass bankruptcies, so they will probably take a sensible approach.
The Dell loan also presumably has a payment schedule attached. They won't be demanding £15m tomorrow.
The entire article seems to be taking the worst case scenarios, and the total payable over many years, and assuming we owe it all tomorrow.

Nothing to do with the main topic .But re players wages I remember going to the ticket office at the BBG 1979 ish ,and passing Alan Biley walking the opposite way opening his wage packet head down counting his money( REAL money).
How times have changed

We’ll probably yes .
I argued we should have kept Cocu party because of the cost of sacking him and it appears it was 8 Million !
This sack sack sack of managers has not helped us.

This is right.
Steve Nicholson understands that it was always going to be a fine but the tabloids have now gone on a feeding frenzy getting sustenance from each other’s overexcited drivel.
Now because it’s apparently nailed on relegation according to these muppets and as @JuanFloEvraTheCocu'sNestasays now that the Rocket for Mel’s Sunshot is being fuelled the fans from other clubs will be outraged and spout off about how we got away with it when it transpires that in fact all it is or was ever going to be was a fine.

I was impressed by Curtis after the joiners debacle. He just stepped back in after a period of being sidelined & brought a real calmness when it was sorely needed.
Then today, talk about selfless; he could have risked serious injury but chose Derby over that.
I don’t think Rooney, the club or us will, or should forget what he’s done for us.
Definitely give him a new contract. He’s the sort of character we need.
