nottingram got a reaction from Ian Buxton's Bat in Conor Hourihane
Instead of going and coaching some children at a team local to where he lives, I would prefer him to move to Duffield and go and get pissed up in the Joiners every evening.
That way we can keep an eye on him and make sure he isn’t passing trade secrets on or perhaps even asking Unai Emery whether he could still get a gig playing for a top half Prem club.

Would make sense to be more concerned about the players who have left rather than those who haven’t, surely?
As it stands that’s zero, by the way.

Would be wary of paying fees for players if his age to be honest. Any transfer budget should be going on players with resale potential . Especially as his scoring is quite streaky

To be fair, he signed 2 of that forward line for a combined 8 or so million (might not have been all him I know, who knows how recruitment worked back then!)
I think at the time he did a job you could range somewhere from just below average to good, depending entirely on viewpoint. 6th wasn’t great imo but it was a really fun season with good cup runs and Leeds away.
I think looking back at it now, with hindsight and what’s happened since, there’s much bigger question marks. Spending was comfortably 8 figures without a single penny subsequently recouped (although he did create value out of Bogle). Again, he might not have been that involved in transfers but I’d be willing to bet he had a decent say. As disastrous a summer as Clement’s was, really.

2 out of the 3 promoted teams in both the Championship and in League 1 will be teams utilising 3 at the back with wing backs, with both teams in both play off finals using it.
The very top teams don’t really use it but it is probably the prevailing system in the Championship and League 1 now. Although I do agree in a way, “wing backs” are often now converted wingers (and the wider CB’s are often converted full backs)

Broadhead was 1.5m I think. Clarke another 1m as well.
No doubt McKenna is a decent coach but Ipswich’s budget was pretty much unprecedented for this level and not going up would’ve been criminal.

This is fine and all makes perfect sense but doesn’t actually diminish much of what people are saying about Warne.
You can count on one hand the number of people who actively want him out, it’s pointless because barely anyone actually thinks that. But there are legitimate concerns that can’t just be brushed under the carpet despite posters getting their throats jumped down as soon as they say them. Our record is crap against top half teams. We have had an alarming drop off since February. We have blown multiple chances to get into the play offs etc etc.
You then have, and I mean no disrespect by this but it is true, all this coming from a poster who has regularly wanted managers sacked. And that is managers who haven’t been in post long, or who have inherited (far more so than Warne) difficult circumstances under which to operate. And it makes it all look a bit confusing. It’s great you want to give him time but given you’ve been so vocal about managers in the past I don’t think it’s a great look to be getting on at people for not being jubilant about a manager who, so far, has done a job that could probably be argued as ranging between poor to maybe just above average.
