Well if they think they can earn similar contracts elsewhere then they're likely to be in for a rude awakening.

Based on how Martin fared lining himself up a 2 year move to Brizzle, I’d expect Waggy to attract similar type interest on his record; if so, it will likely come down to player/agent aspirations and perceived value.

Waghorn has no real injury concerns and it could be argued would fare better in a different set up. If not Derby, it would not surprise me to see him land a championship move, similar to Martin last year. We offer X, another offer Y longer contract or slightly better wages.

Given lack of certainty around new funds, I’d hope Rooney asks to push the boat a bit further with Waghorn.

  2. What a cracking game to watch. Man City all that possession, Newcastle just doing smash and grabs, pretty riveting for a neutral with nothing at stake; really enjoyed that. Didn’t see a Torres hat trick coming for sure!

Edit btw Carson didn’t do anything wrong, even saved a pen, shame he couldn’t get near the follow up.

    carson starts for Citeh.

Blimey.... shame he couldn’t really make the headlines and save that pen. Fair play to Pep, reward for making the tea and numbers up. Harsh, but it almost makes you think others forgot their boots. Good on him though, hope he doesn’t make any rickets second half.

It's one of those It's Monaco, because.............. it's Monaco. At least it's historically boring rather than some of the new tracks that manage to be boring *ahem* Russia *ahem* yas marina....I totally get it if anyone hates Monaco, viewed in any rational way it is boring, no overtakes, limited entertainment.

Monaco is Monaco, bar the odd clip of a wall, get qualifying out the way and it’s a virtual procession of fast cars. The limited entertainment is more about off the track, bloody expensive mind and this year it’s going to be different.

Will be interesting to see a few spectators though, can’t exactly bar those living and working there from the course or marina.

Part of me also thinks, funny how it’s emerged in the run up to a really defining game for us, I mean it’s no like the Daily Fail to print any sensationalised negative press against us ?

The pure joy on Mounts face at scoring against Madrid for his boyhood club gives you faith in young footballers, not all of them are in it for the money he clearly loves the game.

Always feel good watching him do well and proud we played a solid part in his development. Rooting for him to achieve as much as possible in his career because of it. He gave his all here after all.

Not convinced that one game was as pivotal as is being suggested. There's been lots of problems all season, not convinced of the need to say 'that was our downfall'.

He's learning, so that could always be an answer, this season at least. If he gets another season that will be a limited reason if things go wrong.

As I said SINCE the Cardiff game, not the game in isolation and is he learning? Again, he’s not convinced me he’s learning.

We’ll see. If we stay up, I think he’ll get another season if/when Alonso comes in, simply because he wants brand Rooney to take us forward. See how that goes and how long it lasts eh.

So that could be Cocu then Rooney. Do you want to repeat it? Needs time.

Roy I was never Anti him, more on the fence, give him time, since that Cardiff game where he seemed to think our squad was Man City, I’ve been concerned by his decisions, constantly changing to counter opposition rather than focusing on us in my eyes, he’s puzzled me with substitutes too. So I’m generally doubting, as to be honest I’ll accept all make mistakes, but he’s not convinced me he’s learning from his.

B.t.w @LeedsCityRam has just reminded me I half called him out when we was on our strongest run under Rooney, so don’t think I’ve ever been anti him. Just reacting to what I’ve seen since that Cardiff game.

I can't see how he stays either way.

Erik Alonso would be how he stays either way. Plausible he knows all about Rooney and a little about Derby reading sports history books, watching a Charlie George hat trick from an old YouTube clip and having had a few conversations with Mel.

So he takes control in either circumstances and thinks brand Rooney will give him profile, get loads of photo opportunities and offering him a summer cheque book to build “his” team; ignoring Ronney’s tactics had a bearing on results towards our nose dive (me ignoring Bielik injury contributed to this).

My worry from what I’ve seen since the Cardiff game, is even with a summer rebuild, I can’t see Wayne doing massively better next season in the Championship or putting us in contention with what’s left for a Div 1 promotion tilt. Should he stay, I think he’ll be gone around Christmas as the penny drops and we’ll be wasted a season and more money, which will ultimately put unfair pressure on any other managers that follow, trying to mop up the mess.

Tony Mowbray has made one change to his side for this afternoon's encounter with Rotherham United at the New York Stadium.

Bradley Johnson returns to the side in place of Corry Evans and makes his 50th league start for the club.

Brad will at least give his all, regardless of us. What I’d give to have him in our side today.

  11. Don’t know if anyone saw Sunny Edwards just give a masterclass in hit and run, to become the only 2nd Brit brothers to win world titles but some performance from the flyweight against a tough champion. Pundits will probably say age won but it was some performance.

Sure as Rooney is the undoubted genius who will lead us back to the prem, we'll be sat here Sunday toasting double tons and survival as a great bank holiday.

You’re absolutely right. Oh let me know what you’re drinking too, I want that experience ??

DCCC trying to outdo DCFC in breaking records it would seem? How long is it since Notts won a first-class game?

Just have to hope that standard English Bank Holiday weather applies this weekend I guess!

Just going to google to see if the Basketball team are still going, everything Derby sport can’t be so bad surely.

I think Bottas is in a bit of trouble in terms of his Merc seat. Poor start to the season and he doesn't look happy in the car. With Russell breathing down his neck for a drive in the team he needs to be doing much better otherwise Toto will be flicking the safety off and moving towards the trigger.

Albeit from some of the comments afterwards it sounds like Toto was waving the naughty schoolboy finger at Russell, seemed he was defending Bottas in the “I don’t want him to try and prove anything to us because the one thing I can say knowing Valtteri for 5years, he is not trying to prove anything “....  so early days, I don’t think he was that impressed with either to be honest.
