You do realise you're talking about a fanbase that on mass called Billy Sharp a sex offender and a paedophile for absolutely no good reason  and then cried when he gave a bit back?
You think if we sign a Forest player on loan and he gives a penalty away to cost us the game (like White at Bristol) he isn't going to be absolutely dogged with abuse? Forest fans lapping it up with 'Agent Fornah' to make matters worse - it's ridiculous but that's football.

Not really fussed on any of them RoyMac if I'm honest, but I'd get behind whoever we go for.  You could argue not much is currently available but I would prefer to run the risk of waiting until later in the window.
It makes me start to doubt PW and his team based on this list.
I am sure they are, but it's disappointing it seems our scouting network isn't looking at younger alternatives, when they have stated last season the average age of the squad needed bringing down dramatically.

I get the impression that the amount David Clowes is prepared to stump up out of his own pocket is comfortably within any remaining constraints that have been mutually agreed with The EFL.
Personally, I have absolutely no qualms about David Clowes setting himself a budget limit, and keeping to it/within it.  In fact, I'm a big fan of such a sensible approach, and ergo, am a big fan of the guy that saved us.

Its been mentioned by PW that we have a budget agreed with EFL, before Knight sale I think. But whether there were always limits to that budget from EFL or if they just sign off on the club's budget as long as they think reasonable no idea.
If the spend constraints are due to DC who has already saved the club from armageddon wishing not to
-further risk the money his family have made or the businesses in which the family has employed people
    - or manage the club sustainably after where we got to under Morris
then I am not worried at all. I think we will probably never know just how badly Mel left everything at the club and it is going to be a slow build. There obviously needed to be reinvestment in the decimated academy as well as the first team which presumably all comes from the same pot.

I am not shooting you down saying the above but just I do trust DC is doing things correctly for the long term future of the club. Having said that I do think its important we get out of this division ASAP as if/when crowds start to drop off longer term we will be more constrained

Hopefully it’s actually enforced because on paper it all makes sense and is good.
The only thing in there I don’t like is a clearance (headed or otherwise) then playing an attacker onside. Defender wouldn’t need to defend the ball if that player wasn’t there in an offside position, in my opinion.

On Dobbin, it would have been interesting to see what would have happened last season if we'd kept Osula. He was incredibly raw but was also much more threatening in the box. We might not have been so heavily reliant on Didzy and an out-of-form Collins. I'd have him back for sure.

We had a player meeting those requirements last season - Lewis Dobbin but alas he didn’t have that vital ingredient of scoring goals on a regular basis. It's far more important to have players who know what positions to take up and then, when the chances come, are able to put away an acceptable proportion of them.
Players with pace, trickery (which don't always relate to effectiveness) and an ability to score regularly are scarce and way above our current maximum salary level - maybe our best hope is a loan who contributes goals similar to McAttee and Cannon who seemed to flourish at Shef Utd and Preston last season. Unfortunately, for PL clubs there are far more attractive places to send their young players out on loan - sadly, another downside of not being in the Championship.
This season is huge in so many ways.

Plus, if you sign a player on loan you fill a gap for a year while our own players develop, maybe on loan in L2.  Sign someone permanently and you block their path for the next 3 years or so and they ultimately leave.
As for Dobbin, last season was his first playing mens football.  He’s bound to be raw and learning, that’s why he went to us in L1 and not a lower PL or Championship team.  I’d have him back as he’s a good option and I thought he was a good impact sub.

I do partly agree RoyMac5, but out of the loans we've had then Dobbin would be one I would take back for this season.  He would be more hardened to League 1 and a little older/stronger/wiser.  I accept that ultimately you are developing other teams players for them, whilst taking advantage of their ability to progress as a club.
I am sure we would all much prefer it to be one of our own, but as we know I don't think we currently have that quality further down at present, after us losing so many of those very talented youngsters, but it's a fine balance as you have to have a pathway to the first team open to youngsters - which I think we always have.
The laws of the loan system needs to be changed, but for now, Dobbin would be welcomed back at Derby for me.

He'd probably be putting the crosses in. I'm just amazed that after his two short cameos at this level he easily looks as good as Collins. He's smarter, faster and more skilful (ffs what?!), can't see we've anything to lose from giving him a 1 year deal.

Some interesting shouts for AM you mentioned.  Oxford Cameron Brannagan was very good when we played them and Warne mentioned him pre-match how he makes them tick even though we beat them.
3-4 more to come in I suspect as we get closer to the window closing.

I wonder if FGR had a sell on clause for Wilson?
Perhaps this deal has been concocted so that they get nothing. We get Wilson for "nothing" with a zero base cost for Bristol City's sell on clause, they get Knight for a slightly lower price than otherwise would have been the case and with Knight then also having a lower base cost for any sell on clause that we will have on him.

No, just pondering and thinking Harris might not be as bad a signing as this thread portrays.
Not really knowing the budget, if I was in Warnes shoes would I spend the money on Alfie May, or risk Harris with a Lucas Joao and another free transfer.  Not sure I'd want to go into the new season with May, Harris, Joao and Collins as I don't think there are enough goals in that strike force.
I'm getting splinters on my arse here - need convincing.
These days Football managers probably can't look long term, so if he thinks May will get us the goals for promotion then he's our man, but he gives us no re-sale value if we don't go up.
When Arthur spent Lionel's money I feel he always did it with a long term view, based on age and potential, and we recouped or sold for profit - nowadays managers don't have the time.
Has that made things clearer ?!

I am not sure I would go for him, but should it be genuine, Harris might not be a bad bit of business and I'd get behind him if he signed.
Warne has stated, he's not interested in anyone at the club who thinks they are guaranteed a place, so Harris could come in with 2-3 other forwards and push himself and those around him on.  His stats could obviously improve, which some are over obsessive about.
Although if I'm offered Lucas Joao or Harris, I think I know which one I would choose, but all the financials have to be considered, plus game time, considering recent lost wages for players in a treatment room.
It's not my money, and I know DC will be prudent but the recent past has made me very cautious about us wasting literally a penny, which is why when some say we should gamble x amount of a hundred grand on Alfie May, whose 30, and probably offers no re-sale value, I think it could be better to look elsewhere. Harris instead of May though, Hhmmmm,
    Interesting debate.
