GangwayD got a reaction from Crewton in That one game
Martin ‘Crazy like a Fool’ Kuhl’s debut at home.
Absolutely ran the show and Arthur said he was the missing piece in his jigsaw of a very young side he’d put together.
Substituted on 85 minutes to a standing ovation.
One other was the lad on loan from Wolves, Lee, surname escapes me, who also had a great debut, scored a belter. Didn’t do much after.

GangwayD reacted to G STAR RAM in Andre Wisdom
Bang average Championship defender.
Positioning and reading of the game was awful.
Relied on speed and power to recover his mistakes.
Always seemed more interested in shoulder charging than trying to defend properly.
You may have guessed, but its a no from me.

GangwayD reacted to MuespachRam in Baseball Ground Memories
There was plenty of room around the baseball ground to extend It to what we needed, all we needed was a 25k capacity stadium, but the influx of huge sponsorship deals and TV company money had started and Derby didn’t want to miss out on a piece of that pie, the only way they could do this was build a legoland stadium and make It all nice and clean and shiny.
such a shame

GangwayD reacted to sage in Andre Wisdom
Hmm I like centre backs who can judge a flighted ball. I'd like more pace at CB but not in the form of Wisdom. Played a part in more goals given away than any other defender I can remember.

Jagielka > Stearman > Wisdom
Thank you for fulfilling your contract Wiz. A solid Championship full back, but never a centre back.

There were several younger females in the 70s that would stand at the back of the Vulcan Street End, I started in the Kids Pen, Then moved to the Columbo End as a very young teen where me and my mate would climb up the corner near the floodlights and tie ourselves with scarves to the metal fence with the away supporters walking underneath us.
Getting older a move to the Vulcan Street was a must, With the red metal fence walkway seperating home and away fans, Many a suicide fan would jump them to have a close chat with the away fans, At the back of the Popside where a hot bovril was served there was no segregation and all hell would break loose at HT, A fence was later put up to seperate both waring factions, Then a portion of the Columbo and Vulcan street was segregated for the more normal fan, So home fans would enter the Columbo end to great the away fans, All cash turnstiles so no checking the fans, Eventually moving to the Ossie End after Chelsea and Leeds wrecking the seats fiasco, Then onto the more sedate "C" Stand Paddock ?.
As a football arena I don't think there was a more intimidating ground than the BBG, Away players who were going to take a corner at the "C" stand paddock area would often have a change of heart when scores of Lads got to their feet and hurl abuse at them, Away players would often have their shorts pulled on when taking a throw in, Or if you were a Fulham player...getting kicked/tripped, The Hunter/Lee fracas, Lee was initially punched... the reason...Lee was a master at tripping himsel up in the penalty area, Which he did when Hunter was chasing him down, Ref gave a Pen and we scored, Hunter bided his time, And got a good one in right on Lees nose, Ref sends them both off then the fun began with Lee throwing several punches and NOT one landing on Hunter, Only for Hunter to fall over, Word has it that Hunter refused to come out of the changing rooms until Lee had left the BBG.
For me, DCFC lost something when moving to PP, I bought a ST in the East stand, The view was great right in line with the 18 yard line, The Atmosphere was lost for me, It became more sterile, But I Lived with it I guess, As long as I have my memories I can always visit the BBG anytime I choose ?

Amazing memories, a real football ground….worst decision the club has ever made was to leave there and the abomination they did of “preserving” the place is frankly an absolute disgrace.

Good shout is ‘Chasing Rainbows’. As you can really bellow it out as with my ‘Hold Me Close’, suggestion although appreciate younger generation won’t know that.
Think you only need the chorus as all other clubs just sing the chorus of their anthems.
Agree with others in that you don’t change the lyrics.
Cheers

Bit off topic but Ive always wondered what happened to Derby County Derby County we'll support you evermore to the tune of bread of heaven ,was always the go to chant when things were looking grim still think it beats Derby till I die. There's a cracking football tune by the Anti Nowhere League called walk away but I doubt the club would ever play owt by them

GangwayD reacted to Seaside Ram in Sky TV anti Derby
Sky sports programme today was so anti Derby it was laughable , the two idiots on commentary were bad enough but Prutton was just ridiculous. I bet he sent a video to the corrupt EFL after the game to get Fozzy banned. He may have well of been wearing a Forest shirt . I just hope this EFL/Sky agenda creates a siege mentality spirit . Up the F...ing Rams !!! ????

I reckon that was Ipswich away back when Cox was in charge. Went on for just about the whole of the second half from the away terrace behind the goal. It almost died down a few times but then a few just revved it back up. People actually laughing cos it went on so long.
I actually think we are the only ones to sing White Christmas but no really sure why. We did it at Anfield and various comments came back from the Kop about it and how good our support was first year back in the old Division 1.
Here's my effort for what it's worth..
Hold me close don't let me go, oh no
You see I, Yes I love you and think you should know, do you know?
With your love light shining
Every cloud's got a silver lining
So hold me close don't let me go
Der der der-da, Der der der-da, Der der der-da D C F C (then repeat)
Be amazed if any of the young guns on here even know this song. Old'uns are the best, hate to say it but quite liked the Scot's nicking 'Yes Sir I can boogie' at the Euro's.

I am not sure you have to change the words
In fact I think it works better left the same
You'll Never Walk Alone, Delilah, Hi Ho - for example
Just make it the club song - make it happen, not by changing the words - if you get me

Yes " By the light of the silvery moon " was our song and sung on the popside in the 70's . Not sure when it fell out of favour/
Can also remember when the Heanor lads used to chant "Heanor , Heanor " and the popside would respond "Sharples , Sharples " ( You would have to have watched 70's Coronation St to get that ?).
