31% possession and 119 passes compared to Bolton's 419. Guess I'm a toddler for wanting to compete in the third division.
Not sure why Warne supporters take it so personally when people point out how poor we are at the moment. Yes I'd rather we did well under Warne. But we're not. Yes I'd rather he turned it around in 2 weeks and proved me and his doubters wrong. I just don't see it happening. I'd be the happiest guy on the forum if he turns out to make a success of it. However, there's nothing about any game this season that's given me any hope at all.

It didn't take Mac 4 to 5 years to get us playing nice stuff ?
He took over a side that was predominantly possesion type players the same Warne did , the difference is Mac tweaked it and got us scoring more and playing better.
Warne has come in and not got us playing better, this is my point, why appoint a manager who doesn't play similarly to what we had in our squad, nothing wrong with getting us fitter but I still think a good manager/coach who likes to play football on the grass would've got this team firing and what i mean by that is...playing more cohesively and controlling games more.
We are no more in control of a game whether playing Bolton a top side in this division or a Fleetwood who aren't

And willing to talk about personal issues in an honest and very genuine way. Good to have a manager who does not speak in cliches

Loved that; tenacity and entertainment. Every player contributed. It struck me that our team tonight cost an undisclosed fee thought to be £150,000 nine years ago. We deservedly beat a yo-yo team costing tens of millions.
Some random player thoughts - McGoldrick is very efficient. For 90% of the time he barely manages a jog. But when he can make a difference he suddenly comes alive. He looks like a very smart player to me.
Sibley looks very sharp and motivated. I can't see how he can be dropped for Saturday.
Oduroh was defensively superb. OK, he did nothing going forward other than sensible passes into midfield, but as a defensive full back he was brilliant. He fought for every ball and tackled and harried like a veteran. Even when he misjudged the flight or Git on the wrong side, within a second, he'd got back at the attacker. No West Brom player got any time on the ball when they were close to him. It was almost odd to see a full back busting a gut to stop crosses coming over.
I'm really looking forward to Saturday now.

Been watching the Rams since 1970. Seen Managers come and go , some great plenty mediocre. I think we may just have a gem in young Liam I’m pleased with the work he is doing and think he has a fine future in the game hopefully taking the Rams back up the leagues.

Welcome to League 1 Derby County!! These are the games we were warned about and the games that we need to find ways to win  if we are to get out of this league.

In these games against poor opponents bravery is key. We had mountains of possession over 80% without a shot in the first 35 mins is pretty bad. We didn’t commit enough players to attacks we didn’t take enough risks. Partly the team selection partly the players. We should’ve started like we played in last 5 mins of first half and like the last 15-20 mins.
It is too early to start judging players and judging the manager. I was impressed with his interview on RD, I disagree with him this was like Charlton because we didn’t create enough but there is a method and a plan behind everything he is doing and he has absolute conviction in his beliefs and the way he communicates to the media indicates to me that’s the way he communicates to his players. It couldn’t be clearer what he is trying to do and the substitutions all had clear thought and reasoning behind it.
Its early days, we’ve had a solid but unspectacular start. Time to judge is October/November Liam is preparing his team to have the fitness to kick on at that point. If we’re still playing like tonight in late October, we can start to judge and be more critical. I’m still seeing enough to be positive though tonight wasn’t good enough and immensely frustrating.
I trust in Liam and wait to be proved wrong.

How long is this lad signed up for? If it’s only a year that get him signed up for a second year now!! Outstanding prospect! Holding midfielder, too good on the ball to waste him at centre half. Lots of similarities to Bielik. First time I’ve seen him tonight and was best player on the pitch first half.

Alright Rams, Guiseley (who?) fan here in peace.
I came to the Oxford game on Saturday with my mate (Wolves fan).
It was our first trip to Pride Park between us and usually we pick a random game every so often. So we ended up at your place.
We had a great time, your stadium is fantastic. Plenty of eateries around the ground too. The fans we were sat near were passionate and it was infectious. We were in the North Stand which was family orientated but it was nice to see so many youngsters getting behind the team.
The atmosphere was great, the bounce by the south stand was something I won't forget. Capped with a great goal to get the win aswell.
Only downside being, we parked at the industrial park past the south stand and we didn't move for about an hour after the final whistle. But that didn't spoil a great day out.
All the best for the season, will be looking out for your results and will likely come back later in the season too.

I actually think there is a decent chance at something like this happening after watch us versus Berlin in the first half.
We've shifted tactically from last season. Last season the full backs would push very high, wingers come narrow and the defensive midfielders would split and stay deep. Something like:
                  CB  CB
             DM           DM
        RB  RW CAM LW  LB
                       CF
This season however it looks like we are going to try to us the fullbacks more auxiliary midfielders. It was noticeable that the full back would stay in a line with Bird when we were in position and come slightly narrow. Hourihane would then push right up, playing close to Mcgoldrick and both winger stayed high and on the touch line.  More like
                  CB  CB
            RB     DM      LB
                 DM  CAM
        RW        CF        LW
So the demands of a full back here wouldn't be the same in fact you'd probably want someone who is comfortable being in midfield (not necessarily a midfielder). So trialing Knight and possibly Smith would make a lot of sense.
Although what I will say is I'd be very very wary about playing Fozzy with how we currently look to be setting up.

I think you decide which players have to play and then work backwards with what system best suits them and then which of the players that are left, fit into the ramaing places.
Therefore I'd say that Wildsmith, Davies, Bird, Hourihane, McGoldrick and Collins are certain starters.
With that in mind I'd have to go 4-4-2 with McGoldrick floating off Collins. My team would be
    G-Wildsmith
    RB-Oduro
    CH-Davies, Cashin
    LB-Roberts
    RM-Mendez Laing
    CM-Bird, Hourihane
    LM-Barkhuizen
    CF-McGoldrick, Collins
Harsh on Knight but there's only 11 places and he is battling in the strongest department.

Very rarely comment but couldn't resist after reading some of the moving posts by others on here. Have spent all morning greedily devouring every post since the announcement yesterday, I just can't get enough.
It's been an absolutely torrid couple of years, but the way this darkness has galvanised everybody who cares about the club has been incredible to behold. It's brought together the city in an age where the country is divided, it's shown the pride that exists and how important it is to the identity of the people of Derby. The march before the Birmingham game is something I'll never forget and will always be proud to have been a part of. The Bielek bicycle kick made me lose my mind in delirious happiness and joy in a way that no bottom of the table, 2nd division, mid season game has a right to do.
Extremely early days but I can't believe how lucky we seem to have gotten with David Clowes. No fuss, no drama, just got on with buying the stadium before anybody knew they were even involved. Keen to shun the limelight, a breath of fresh air after the previous owner.
High hopes for the future. Long live Derby County Football Club. Up the Rams.

I think Fozzy, who has taken a lot of stick the past few seasons has really stepped up to the plate in the last few games. Showing how much he cares. Deserves recognition for showing the young uns a real example. Showed his worth today when replacing Stearman.

This team is playing better than the sum of its parts, that is credit to the players and importantly the manager. Every player out there is working hard for the club and has/does face criticism at times on this board; not good enough, too old, lazy, past it, not quick enough, too slow etc and fair enough, opinion is what this board is all about but at the moment we are a team, players management and supporters together and long may it continue. Very Proud to support this team and manager!
