richgee1976 reacted to RoyMac5 in Paul Warne appointed as Head Coach
Conor Hourihane explained what it is like to work with Warne when he guested on Not The Top 20 Podcast’s YouTube channel.
He said: “He is different in terms of how he goes about his day-to-day business with players. “I think his ultimate strength in my opinion is his man management. “Speaking from my experience, he’s only been warm and caring and loving towards me since he’s come in, I think he’s been like that with everyone. “He’s regularly texting lads, regularly praising guys and he knows how to get the best out of players.
“He’s so hands-on with players, he’s different to what I’ve had previously and I’ve got an amazing connection with him. “I really respect him as a man first and foremost and how he handles guys, and how he handles players. “He’s got a team around him that I thrive off. Richie Barker on the coaching side of things, he’s really good as a coach, Hammy’s (Matt Hamshaw) the same, they’ve got a really good balance in their team of coaches.
“They’ve all got their strengths and the manager leads them to bring out their strengths. “They know how to get that balance right and they work well together and the lads absolutely love working with them everyday.”

Just isn't fair on the other sides taking a battering from us week in week out.

Think we showed we've got depth today. Curtis had a great game considering he's played next to no games, is about 59 years old and has the knees of Paul Mcgrath...???

richgee1976 reacted to Comrade 86 in Stephen Pearce...didn't get out of our club
Pretty clear that behind the veneer, Morris was a raging egomaniac. I'm more inclined to believe that Pearce was the one left desperately trying to hold everything together, than the one of the principal causes. In truth, only Morris, Q and Mr Clowes would really know and both of the latter two have supported him to the hilt. Perhaps that should be good enough for us fans, though it's completely understandable that some find it hard to give him a clean slate.
Whatever the truth, I'd now much rather look forward, than back. The books, by all accounts, look good and the curve is upward. Time to let it go perhaps?

If Mr Clowes trusts him then that’s good enough for me.

I'm not so sure about that. November was pretty tough : 7 games in the month, 6 away from home, leading to the home clash with the Wendies. 2 tough cup ties on poor pitches at non-league and league 2 grounds, and a walk in the park at Anfield. We played on almost every day of the week it seemed. That took some character and stamina.
I think what Warne's done well is to adapt his style more to suit the squad; get Smith and Sibley settled in at fullback; get the players to be braver in looking for the decisive pass; make us less susceptible to counter-attacks; kept the squad fresh, happy and together with mini rotations. We're developing a distinct character.

I think you do Warne and the players a disservice here.
In every league, there will be differences in quality and the haves and the have nots.
Yes, we are fortunate to be amongst the two or three biggest clubs in the division and that brings us a degree of competitive advantage. You’re right in suggesting that.
At the end of the day though, you still have to go out there, be professional, be switched on, and let your quality show.
The fact we’ve gone 12 games unbeaten in the league suggests to me the manager is doing a very astute job and has got the players laser-focused. It’s a testament to the manager.
If it was that straightforward and that simple, why have so many big clubs over the years struggled to get back out of the division again? How many teams went to Elland Road, the City Ground, Bramall Lane, the Stadium of Light and got the scalp they were looking for?
Even looking at the season, why did we slip up at Lincoln and Charlton earlier on in the season and why have we managed to draw so many games under Warne?
Yes, there are numerous teams that can’t match us for quality, but we still have to apply ourselves correctly to get the desired results. I think Warne deserves a lot of credit for that. There are trip hazards everywhere you look in this league.

Rosenior was completely unproven. If he was ‘already good’, why didn’t he get the job permanently?
Hull are ‘well up the league’? They were 20th and now they’re 16th. He’s meeting the brief but let’s not over-egg it. He’s doing a respectable job. Nothing more, nothing less.
All of our success is due to the squad Rosenior assembled? What a great way to undermine the job our current manager is doing!
People said Warne would have to rip the squad up to get them ‘playing how he wants’. This has proved to be untrue. People said the football would be a turn off and attendances would drop to 12k. Again, it’s untrue.
We have signed no-one and gone on an unbeaten run stretching back to October. We have played with a left back at centre back, a central midfielder at right back and an attacking midfielder at left back, and we’re 12 games unbeaten in the league. Even many of Rosenior’s signings have performed better since he left.
But of course none of that is down to the current manager, is it?

richgee1976 reacted to uttoxram75 in We are Derby
We've been through some tough times, when you put all the horrendous Covid stuff alongside the financial firestorm of the Morris era together we are lucky to have a club left to support.
But we have a fantastic club to support, we still have our wonderful, stressful, beautiful club to support.
We are averaging 26,000 in the third division. We are selling out most away games, we are Derby.
I love this football club, I love everything about DCFC. I love the history, I love people like @loweman2 doing all the stuff about shirts, @Inverurie Ram with his Rams flag thread,
Whatever happens this season, whether we make the play offs or even sneak into the autos, it doesn't really matter.
Being part of the DCFC family is what matters. We are Derby. Enjoy every game you go to and get behind the team.

Same crazies….like the club? See below tweet.
We lost the tie against Liverpool on penalties, but the 90 minute match ended in a draw and as several other posters have commented that’s the accepted measure within football. The last team to beat us in a 90 Minute game of football was Ipswich Town, 16 games ago

Some really interesting things in there. So many away games in the first half of those fixutures. We really fought during those games and picked up lots of good away points/results.
The goals conceeded is just becoming incredible. We've also done it without ever really been negative and now we are scoring lots of goals too. I went to the MK Dons game and it really felt we needed a win from that game. The signs weren't good when they scored early by running straight through the middle of the park. We have conceeded 2 goals in the next 10 games from that point onwards!
Obviously going win/loss/win/loss gets you more points than 4 draws. But those hard fought draws have turned us into a team who now believes we won't lose, or even conceed. This base is something we haven't had for ages. Even in Lampard season, we were so inconsistent. Can't remember us going on many good unbeaten runs with Rowett either. We've been inconsistent for years, except for Mac 1 really. If I remember rightly, we started acculminating points quietly when he first joined, with the great performamces coming a bit later on.
I remember on @Steve Bloomer's Washing a few games back them talking about most our home games had been against the top teams. This led to some tough home games and defeats, but also away games vs weaker teams who parked the bus.
We have now started playing some of those weaker teams at home and over powering them. How we do away at the better teams will decide if we stick in the playoffs or push on to challenge for automatic.
Good times.

maybe as a now 31 yo ball winner even wigan have better options
lets move on and look ahead instead of trying to revisit the past.
shinnie was fine for us, some great performances some so so.
hes 31 theres younger, fitter and hungrier players of his type around the football pyramid we could get

So hope not. Was really pleased when he left as he was so limited compared with our other midfielders. I would put him behind Bielik, Sibley, Knight, Smith, Bird and Hourihane in our pecking order, possibly competing with Thommo.

richgee1976 reacted to Carl Sagan in Curtis Nelson - joined on a 2 year deal
This makes sense. It doesn't look as if we'll get a lot of football out of Davies or Chester. Seemingly Warne doesn't fancy Roberts. If we buy Nelson we can move Fozzy to left back and move Sibley into midfield. That's such an important change to give us more attacking energy and drive and goal-scoring threat in the middle.

It helps when songs are sung that everyone will join in with. Not everyone wants to sing about Collymore's broken leg, players having large penises or references to fighting.
