Well that's a good start - couldn't even  get the press release factually correct. I'm pretty sure that the Racecourse Ground was the club's original home.

People!! This is the Mel fan club thread. Positives only!!
So, I'd like to think that there's an electrician who won't be getting his invoices paid by DCFC will be changing a light bulb at Mels house for an eye watering amount next week.
Come on, clutch with me here!

I had always believed that the MSD loans were taken out in the company that owned the ground.
Having just looked on Companies House I can see that this is not the case.
Also looks like the ground has not been paid for, surely this will be the first port of call for the administrators.

Unfortunately, due to the failure to submit any accounts to Companies House, nobody except the people ITK can give you the answer to this.
Think its becoming quite clear why MM never filed any accounts at Companies House and that the EFL charges were a convenient excuse to hide behind.

We have no idea as we do not have sight of the accounts, but @Revthe club must be who took out the loans and carries the debt with MSD, and the latter has a fixed and floating charge over all assets of the club. My understanding is that Morris has also given personal guarantees to cover MSD and there is also a charge over the stadium which might support either the Club’s debt to MSD or Morris’s guarantee (or both). There seem still to be a lot of individuals willing to give Morris the benefit of the doubt. His weasel words on Sunday lead me to think that the structure of the debt and security arrangements are more likely to be to his personal advantage than those of the Club. Only time and the ‘big reveal’ will tell.

Totally agree. The rules are swayed to protect the very people who are already making it virtually impossible to follow the rules.

Can somebody correct me if any of this is wrong.

    (i) Mel has led us into this mess
(ii) He still has over £300m to his name
(iii) We owe HMRC £27m and need to settle total debts of around £50m
(iv) If the above three are correct then is it unreasonable to think the decent thing would be for Mel to reduce his fortune to around £250m by settling the debts?

He would still be the person responsible for damaging DCFC's reputation and plunging us into relegation turmoil through points deductions but he would at least be respected for taking the financial hit as a consequence of his numerous mistakes. Not to mention safeguarding jobs and settling debts to small local businesses.
Allowing administration to happen whilst sitting on £300m is obscene.

Dec: "You're locked in a box for 5 minutes with these 200 snakes and Gary Rowett, your task, should you accept it, is to work out how a stadium which only operates on 23 days a year can be worth £80m.
Ant: If at any point you wish to exit the challenge, just shout "Rick Parry, I'm in administration, get me out of here" and you will be set free from the box. You will however lose the 12 meals you could have won for camp. If you fail to complete the challenge successfully and survive less than 3 minutes you will also lose a further 9 meals.

I am with @Carl Saganand @G STAR RAMhere. Pouring money into the club at this stage is only likely to ultimately benefit (comparatively) rich footballers, secured creditors and HMRC.
There has been much talk about small businesses badly affected by the collapse of the Morris empire. One such business is no doubt DCFC Fans. This Platform would have been receiving income from the club in respect of advertising revenue, which is now or has perhaps for a while been on stop, and I would not be surprised if it too were not a lowly unsecured creditor of the club. I would counter suggest that presently if there are some disposable funds in your pockets you might consider giving a small bit to DCFC Fans by way of a donation to ensure the Platform keeps ticking over, and so David can buy the occasional Peroni. These are no doubt uncertain times for David and any small contribution might help him get over a cash flow hump of his own until the Administrators appoint someone willing to run the Club proactively again. Even if you can’t make a donation, perhaps start clicking on some adverts, and remove your ADblockers (you know who you are). It is vital in my view that this Platform is supported, not only for our continued enjoyment, but for all Rams fans to have an open forum to discuss how we can save and rebuild our great Club. COYR!

You stated the obvious. I don't think my gif was unreasonable.

But, if you want more on dragging out ...

The more it 'drags out', the more tap-dancing Mel/the Club/any future buyer can do which could save us from the unthinkable. It's all about manoeuvring now. If Bill Gates called Mel right now with his cheque book out, some pause would be needed.
The fill the ground for the Reading game is us manoeuvring - we are hoping we can do our small part to make the club tasty to a rich potential buyer ('grand old club', fanatical fans etc etc) and make the EFL feel awkward with a massive attendance.
There are a few on here who seem to think the sudden-end-good-clean-death option of administration will be best ...... Going to some halcyon tour of characterful League 1 grounds, chuffing on gravy and chips and intimidating the home fans, before victoriously returning to the Championship and our eventual rise to Prem glory.
    I can't see that.
    I just see sudden death.
Once the vultures descend I think we will be shredded.

I know its easy to say this when u have no money like i do lol but i think it boils down to this..... mel made a choice, his money or the club! He chose his money, simple as!

Mel made it sound like him putting us in administration was the best thing for the club. He really had the confidence to own up infront of the supporters and say that the best thing for Derby County Football Club was him putting us in administration.
No, the best thing for the football club would be him paying the debts of the football club and to find an agreement with the EFL. The best thing for him was to put us in administration, therefore taking the workload and liability away from him.
As it stands, we've incurred an additional -12 point deduction on top of anything else that we may pick up and seemingly something that could run for a few more years yet. Another story ran over night thinks we're due to receive a -21 (potentially another 3) this season. With a further 15 point deduction next year. We've also got a transfer embargo for two years.
We know that Buchanan, Bird, Sibley and Knight will be sold. I'm not too concerned about that as I think it's great they're getting out of this mess as they genuinely have a career and a lot of potential. As a Derby fan, I wouldn't want the club to be a weight around these young lad's neck and become the reason they didn't fulfill their potential.
Mel is the worst chairman this club has ever had, he's leaving the club in the worst mess its ever been in - arguably up their with one of the worst messes of any club in the history of the sport. A club without a stadium, which he owns, potentially soon without training facilities huge point deductions with severe transfer embargos that could sink the club into the League Two - similar to Bolton. I think they still own their stadium(?) although I'm not sure.
But.... he's doing it for us. What a truly wonderful guy!

    A mix of:
Heart ruled his head at the wrong times, he wanted the best for the club he supported and wanted to be the one to bring the good times back but that led him to make some very poor business decisions at critical moments. Over inflated opinion of hs ability and an over reliance on a belief that lawyers and accountants could get him out of trouble when he got into it. Misunderstanding of how football works, driven by a belief that he was - in some way - bigger than the organizations that run it. Caused him to get too personal and make too many enemies with the wrong people, even if he may be fundamentally right in a lot of his views. Too much of a 'Las Vegas casino' mentality with the future of the club and little consideration to the consequences of those bets not coming in. Only gamble what you can afford to lose, and don't gamble with what doesn't belong to you (in spirit if not in paperwork).
