The crowds were much lower at times during the 80s and 90s and believe me, even though the quality has been at much worse levels, it was much more enjoyable than being in the presence of some of the entitled idiots that 'support' us today.
I actually quite look forward to crowd numbers dropping to Nigel Clough era levels when you know that the fans there actually want to get behind the team.

If anyone gives @david grief over tonight they're a moron. (Deliberately not tagged to give him a rest).
The fella has gone above and beyond his duty, after all he's just the owner of the most popular DCFC forum, not a spokesperson for the fans.
It would have been so easy to either send someone else, or decline the invitation outright, and no one would have called him for that, in fact I'd guess some people would praise him for a principled action, and not being cowed by a NDA.
Instead he's put himself out, travelled a decent distance, by crappy public transport, and attended what was probably not a particularly pleasant meeting so he can report back to us whatever he's found out, yet he still gets knocked.
Tbh, if I were him, I'd switch the forum off once I got home and let everyone stew.

He's getting absolutely dragged on Twitter.
The sense of entitlement from some of our fans, towards a bloke who owes them absolutely nothing, is astounding.

Quick update: I have just left the meeting which is still ongoing otherwise I would miss the last train.
A decision was made not to release minutes for this meeting in the end, but I am free to get a write up out to you all as soon as I can.
I do not have a laptop with me and would prefer to wait until tomorrow once I’m home and can go through all the notes.
I will aim to have it ready to post on the forum tomorrow.
Please do not bombard me with questions across the forum by mentioning me, PM, DM or text if you have my number.
I don’t want to be putting bits and pieces out there all over the place.

I've just looked out my window and a bald man in glasses was running past at quite a pace.
His clothes were ripped, he look disheveled.
Then a few seconds later a highly volatile crowd ran past with pitch forks, rope and fire shouting "lynch him. Lynch him. Lynch him"
Anyway. I wonder how the supporters charter meeting is going?

    Too right! ?
I am with @Gaspode on this one. I think it's much more important to have an open and frank meeting where the club representatives can speak freely, than to have a bland public exercise that acheives nothing. If the NDA allows this to happen then I see this as no different to what many private and public  businesses have in place already. You have to respect commercial confidentiality and this is a critical time for our club in that respect.
As for representation,  I feel reassured that the club has chosen to work with established groupings, not just now but over the several years since these supporter charter meetings have been established.
I have seen many engagement initiatives set up in my line of work,  where new systems have been established whilst alienating all the people who have been doing the work before. Starting from scratch inevitably means that the "wrong" type of people get themselves at the table, rather than those who are happy to work with and engage with their constituency all the time - whether formally or informally, like this Forum. They put in the hard yards for little or no reward, so I am more than comfortable that they will try their best to represent the range of views in a constructive manner.
Let wait and see what comes out of the meeting before we start beating up our club yet again.

I've been party to several NDAs, indeed am under one currently at work.  I get all the cries of consternation but I have no doubt the detail of the meeting will be available very shortly afterward.  I suspect that, due to the nature of the questions to be raised, and the delicate position we're clearly in with the EFL, HMRC and prospective buyer (who may have requested this as part of their own NDA), DCFC want, and need, to protect themselves whilst trying to (finally) have some form of communication with fans.
Whilst perhaps, at face value it's disappointing for us fans, it's a pretty common practise.
@david thanks for representing us and good luck.

Mel will be leaving us in a right mess, but there is no need to punish him further for it, I don't believe he did it maliciously at all. His punishment will have been to be saddled with the club funding it out of his own pocket whilst we wait for a takeover to happen.
Had Mel not run the club in the way he has a takeover might have happened more quickly, so that's the consequence to his actions.

    As a last resort yes.

How would you feel if you were him .
He is doing his best to sell .
He has to put up with FFP and the EFL and embargo’s .
If I was him I’d feel very annoyed at all the flak and criticism he gets.

I only asked the question i didn’t advocate it but as usual the bandwagon started on here

Mel has been terrible at running this football club during his tenure, but he hasn’t done it purposely or with clear intentions to cause harm.
He certainly isn’t in the realm of Glazers, Oystons, 3 Amigos territory.
I don’t understand what could be gained from abusing (or booing) him. He isn’t a charlatan or he hasn’t been peforming a scandal. He must be well aware of how bad his tenure has been, and he is actively looking to sell.

I was born in Hull in 1970 and lived in Cottingham, just outside Hull and cried on my 13th birthday when the family moved to Aberdeen because of my dad's new job in 1983.
I was brought up watching Hull City at Boothferry Park and watching Hull Kingston Rovers at Craven Park. My dad still cheers on for the Tigers and the Robins and the rest of the family all have a soft spot for both teams. Watching Hull City as a very young boy actually prepared me for being a Derby County fan, because incredibly they were worse than us in the late 70's, and 80's etc when supporting Derby made us stronger for the current times.
I picked Derby County out of the paper with my eyes closed, when my older brother persuaded me not to support Liverpool who I'd just got into, I remember my Grandad Chick had given me a black and white photo of the Liverpool team, and I enjoyed watching them play, when I stayed up late on a Saturday night watching Match of The Day and awaiting my parents to come home from The National pub in Hull, usually with food from the Chinese Take Away for everyone's supper, so yeah I was encouraged by my big brother to avoid supporting the so called big teams being supported by others, at school at the time, mainly Man Utd, Liverpool and a lot of Leeds Utd, around Hull at the time, so around 1976, I blindfolded picked out Derby County, and I've followed probably more downs than ups ever since, unfortunately with the blind fold off!
My older brother is a Chelsea fan and my younger brother is a Wolves fan and we all love our football.
A few Aberdeenshire Rams, well mainly 1 in @2tupspost on here, I think @Ramadonna9 reads now and again, as does @Rampianand @campavanram and @Elgin_Ram is in the Clan, and @CWC1983probably remembers me from the Westhill Inn, when I grew up in Westhill, Abedeenshire. Their are Rams fans up here in Stonehaven, nearby in Montrose, in Fraserborogh, in Elgin etc and we have many others up here in Dundee, Glasgow and Edinburgh etc.
I now stay out in Inverurie and I take my two boys to watch Derby County when I can, well the eldest one has been inside Pride Park, the youngest one only outside Pride Park, but both who at the moment have opted to support Liverpool, and the eldest went to Wembley with me to the Aston Villa game, well I still have plenty of time on my hands, hopefully, for my two boys to see sence!
I hate to read on here when Derby fans are falling out with one another and calling one another names, and I hate to read on here when Derby fans are calling their own players, managers, coaches, staff etc all sorts of names also. Get behind them, not against them.

The name of Derby County has been radically sullied in the press of late, some of it very unfair. Does the Club have a communications strategy to set the record straight over some of the issues eg how we cheated relegation? How we fixed our accounts? How we sold the ground to ourselves? What we value as a Club eg fairness, community spirited, ambitious.

Derby County Football Club belongs to you, but also to the people of the city and the community of fans around the world. And many are very worried for the club's future. What are your plans for the club if the worst happens and you cannot find someone to buy it off you?
