First half was pretty decent, 2nd half we looked very leggy which meant Fleetwood had more of ghe ball but I didnt think we ever looked in great danger.
Waggy & Washington looked a decent pairing, Thommo added alot of energy, Rooney was composed & as we all know NML looks a threat on the right. Our back 4 looked pretty solid & more composed.
The players ran their socks off on a very hot & humid day, other than Rooney coming off all the subs made sense to me. NML could have done woth coming off but I can see why he didnt. Warne had to make changes due to players being knackered, when you look at the bench only 2 players were attackers which he brought on to try & freshen it up. Going to a back 3/5 was understandle for 2 reasons....they were the only subs available to use really & Fleetwood were always going to go for it in the last 10mins or so.
As Warne said post match, we need pace & 'legs' in midfield, seems like he wants 2 centre mids in, a RWB and a forward.

Thought their No.32 Earle looked decent - tall, very left-footed and decent pace.

    Positives:
Rooney looked so composed. How we’ve ended up with him in our under 21s is some recruitment/luck. Will be a very solid player.

Nelson looked a lot more comfortable.

    Forsyth looked very good again.

Thompson aside from his stupid unnecessary booking had a blinder. Making it hard for Warne to drop him. A good performance.

NML out wide is so so much more of a threat than NML down the middle. In the first half he was always an option. Second half looked dead on his feet - Barkhuizen on the bench to replace him will be a big plus to the squad if we continue to play with proper width.

Waghorn is one of the most technically gifted forwards in this league. Absurd that there were fans who didn’t want him back. It was never about nostalgia it was about seeing him doing things our other forwards can’t.

We could lose v Peterborough and Bolton and then win the next four.
We could beat Peterborough and Bolton but then lose the next four.
    What would we learn?
Fixating on these games is meaningless when Cambridge are top and Stevenage are in the top six.
Warne will earn his wage by what he and the team does in the next 42 games, not two.
Whatever happens in the next two, these early results underline how important it is to stay calm.

I was particularly impressed with the first half.  Some attractive play on show at times.
second half was more “resilient” admittedly, but it was still a good job well done over 90 minutes.

Much better, but still plenty to improve on. The defence was fantastic, Wildsmith looked back to his best and not as nervy, Thompson was brilliant, Waghorn looks a top player at this level and NML on the wing just changes the whole team for us ... he's always an option for the midfield and their left back is terrified to get forward and leave him free. They often doubled up on him leaving space for one of the centre mids which meant we had a bit more control than in previous games.

Needed a win just to calm everyone down.
Might not have been a classic, but it didn't come across like we were getting battered and didn't deserve the win.
Win the next one and we'll the most depressing phrase in football "mini-run we're on"

Looksike a 433, be interesting to see who is RB and who is CM between Smith & Rooney
Unless its 352 still with NML at RWB

Tbf Warne said himself there was arguments in the room when going over transfers. I’m sure that’s natural in any club or business, where competing needs and budget comes into play.
I’d be worried more if everything was Rosie, as they wouldn’t be seeing what we’re seeing, on the pitch and in recruitment.

Bradley will come good, he’s got pedigree and is more than good enough to play at this level. It may just take time to settle down a bit.

Far too much panicking going on here.

Been told to expect minimum 4 in. Mix of loan and permanent. Bird won’t leave, especially now he’s injured but Cashin, if the right bid with good cash up front comes in he will be gone. Any money that comes in from transfers can and will be reinvested back into players

My mate who was bang on with Bradley, Washington & Waggy all being done has told me that we have got Fornah on a season loan from Forest.
Ward out for 3 weeks & Bird out for 2 months

I think we will go with a 4231 / 433 which is what we played during Warne's best run with us:

Wildsmith - Nelson Bradley Cashin Forsyth - Smith Hourihane Thompson - NML Collins Waghorn
Subs: Vickers Wilson Elder Rooney Robinson Sibley Washington
I can't see Bird & Ward playing based off Warne's post match interview & Wilson has a slight knock so can see him being on the bench if he isnt fit either then Bardell to come in for him.
Thats quite a defensive back 4 but is what we need imo, I think a back 4 would suit all parties. Nelson at RB can do a job there, both Bradley & Cashin seem to struggle in a 3 but I think a 2 is more suitable for them.
Thompson can then use his energy to get around the pitch in a free role as well as supporting Collins with Waggy & NML giving us width. Hopefully Sibley gets a full week training, I can see him making the bench if short on numbers from the 2 injuries last night.

Todays podcast is a brilliant listen for insight into the recruitment process & it goes to show that Warne wants exactly the same things as the fans in terms of type of player as well as the difficulty in choosing between a 22yr old loan, 24yr old who costs too much or a 30yr old. Warne even goes onto say about not wanting the 30yr old option but may be the best choice overall

I get to sticking to your budget but maybe with the sales of Knight & Bielik Warne thought he could use some of that money, it appears he cant so in Knights case we have lost a regular starter & have no extra budget room to replace him. So if Warne wanted 2 strikers for example, he now has to replace Knight & compromise a striker. So I can see why Warne is getting frustrated if this is the case.

I think if he moves to Brighton it will go a similar way to Matt Clarke.
He was in the last year of his deal at Pompey in League One. Brighton signed him for around £5 million.
He was loaned out to us, WBA and Boro. Before signing permanently for Boro without ever playing for Brighton.
When you have got as much money as Brighton do you can afford to take the risk.

I think this will probably happen.
Let's be honest. His contract is up in a year. Even if we go up, the fact he's getting linked with teams like Brighton would probably suggest he's going to have some offers from top end championship and Prem teams meaning it's probably unlikely he would sign a new deal here.
Getting £3 million now would enable us to add 3-4 new signings whilst getting to keep Cashin for the last year of his deal anyway.
If they are offering £3 million we just cannot turn that down.
