Jortat reacted to DanS1992 in Rams vs Barnsley (A) Matchday Thread
Bird my MOTM tonight in what has been a pretty dire performance. Tidy in possession, always available to receive the ball and tried to keep things ticking over. Shame his teammates were not up to scratch tonight.

Well this will hopefully put to bed the view that Shinnie stifles our creativity.

The we might as well give up, bye bye championship comments are a bit childish. Granted we’ve been poor tonight and probably will go down but let’s hope the team can keep their heads up. Thankfully the travelling support don’t sound like they’re giving up just yet.

Haven't seen a second of this game but yeah, that's been a problem before.
We did the same last season after a point, never bothered to play the ball to Kazim's feet, told him to stay up top and central, had nobody running off him and just hoofed it up to him.
We were almost forced to try to play a more expansive style of football because he got injured, had a few games where we created good chances but just needed a striker
It doesn't sound like we're showing any of the patterns of play that saw us create those chances now, against Blackburn it was back to individual performances without any proper attacking structure.

Don’t think we’ll make the playoffs this season.

Why does it feel like a punishment when we win a throw in?

Last season we played with 10 men for 40 odd games when Lawrence was playing, so we still have a chance ?

I don’t understand the criticism of Baldock…yes he’s had little or no impact but his job tonight is chasing lost causes and grafting selflessly for his team. He’s feeding of scraps at best….and very low quality scraps at that. I understand it’s frustrating but by comparison Knight literally hasn’t had a touch but received no criticism for his performance at all ?♂️
Surely we have to understand the lone striker role, away, at the top of the league, with your side playing a much different route 1 game isn’t exactly made for sparkling performances from 5’9” strikers?

Real battling performance first half and growing into the game. Enjoying seeing Roos just hoof it as it has removed one avenue for them to score. Might replace Baldock but that is all shame no CKR as these tactics are made for him.

So far so good. It’s very scrappy, and lacking in quality but so far the game plan is working. We’re defending their crosses and aerial threat brilliantly. Back 3 superb so far, Williams looks very assured. Sibley has had a couple of moments, Jozwiak busy. A shame Bakdock looks lost.
It’s the sort of game that if you concede it’s pretty much game over and game plan is doomed. But as it is, I’ll take it. Not the sort of football I’d like to see in the long term though.

We need a bit more luck with decisions by the officials.
We need a stronger squad.
Another point towards staying up and with all the off the field issues during the summer it's probably the best we can hope for.

Actually think we have done ok, Salford are no mugs, and you can tell our young lads aren't used to the physicality of proper league football.
You can see why Rooney wants more experienced heads in, the youngsters can all play a part, but need a good mix of experience with them unlike tonight

Jortat reacted to Gaspode in Ravel Morrison - signed 1 year deal
So what do you suggest? not get bodies in and just give up? miraculously fix all of our EFL problems, get the takeover done, find someone to give us £50m for Knight and blow the lot on a new team of competitive Championship players?
We are where we are (a poorer squad than the one that only just avoided relegation last year, a transfer embargo, the same owner so no chance of the EFL letting up on their vindictive campaign, etc, etc....). Unless a miracle occurs (the takeover goes through, the EFL give us a clean bill of health and Wazza manages to bring in 5-6 quality signings for little money and on minimum wages) then it will be a long hard season of scrapping.....

Baldock would be worth a go. A hard working irritant of a forward in a similar vein to Gregory, Weimann etc. His career numbers aren't too bad by any stretch and he's played for some decent sides at this level.
Folks love a good whinge for whinging sake. It's pretty clear that the type of player we are looking at now is 100 % relative to the situation we currently find ourselves in.
The only immediate priority is to simply form a squad capable of competing in the Championship next season.
With all of the overriding factors and restrictions impeding our potential transfer movement (self inflicted or otherwise), what else is realistically expected?

Jortat got a reaction from Will Hughes Hair in EFL appeal
Rooney spits constantly on the touch line so what is his excuse ? It’s just a habit that players do imo , no scientific answer required.
