We’re so one paced. Frantic. So I only expect us to have the ball for a few seconds and hence the excitement just isn’t there. Yet, in interviews, Warne accuses the players of trying to make too many killer passes and at the same time making an extra pass when having the chance to cross, shoot etc. He needs to be clear about what his instructions are as from the stands, the instruction appears to be knock it long into the channels and get a cross in. 🤷🏽‍♂️

This is my biggest worry, he talks about moving the ball quicker, having urgency. Then he says we're trying too hard to make the killer pass and we need to look after the ball better. Totally contradictory instructions

Or not necessarily, because there are times he will want us to be patient and other times to go for the kill, but the players don't seem to know when he wants them to do what

After today's game, not in wrist-slashing mode like a lot seem to be. In the circumstances (injuries, playing an unbeaten team etc etc) thought it was a decent point. We've just come off the back of 3/4 tough games and we are still only 3 points off the play-offs. Personally, I think we'll improve and the performances and results will start to pick up in coming weeks. But there you go. Maybe I'm being too optimistic.

What do you mean "only" 3 points off the playoffs? At this end of the table, 3 points is a huge gap.

Not to mention that the team in 6th were not a few hours ago putting in an absolute stinker at Pride Park and could have easily walked away with a win if they could just about be bothered

We are 11th. Which means there are 4 teams better placed to take that 6th spot, should one of those playoff teams slip up and drop points.

And that's the task ahead of us to just get to 6th, the very last playoff spot. We are 6 points off the top two. Promotion this year is another dimension away. We are so far away from success, if we even dream about promotion we better wake up and apologise to the 10 teams above us in the league

Wake up. We are dead in the water. It's not wrist slashing to face the facts.

  3. In a strange way I'm glad we gave him the 3 year contract in the summer so there's no question of whether to keep him on or whatever

If he was out of contract in the summer, it would have been even more cruel on him because he'd probably never play for us again and would be a free agent at 21 with an ACL on his record

  4. Of all the ACLs we've had over the years, this one for some reason feels the most sickening to me. He's been so patient for his chance, was threatening to have his breakthrough year and then this happens.

And what a reliable utility man, anywhere in the backline or midfield. Could have been huge for helping keep this squad fresh all year.

It's just so cruel for him. Hope Fozzy can get an arm round him as he has been there 3 times

Second best all first half, grew into it nearer the end and got a penalty after the ball was in the net, and after another stonewall penalty. Then they get a penalty, looked on the edge of the box but could’ve been inside. Second half starts, Bradley (who was playing really well) drops (another) clanger leading to Wildsmith to get desperate and get sent off (rightly or wrongly) but the referee took a good 40 seconds to make a decision and the linesman didn’t flag it. Then we’re away to Bolton who will be top 2 with 10 men. We defended really well, Nelson in particular but then they get a fluke own goal that loops in. We get pegged back and have a few chances near the end. Wasn’t a great watch but no where near worth the meltdown in my opinion

    Thanks for the summary

Your transfer news has been sketchy at best all summer but I do in all good faith respect you as a poster 🙏

If we continue this lob-sided 3-5-2/4-4-2 system.

We're potentially only 2 injures away from not being able to play with 3 CBs

We can't keep getting away with playing NML in RWB. Teams are going to realise what we're doing soon. Rooney was exposed massively at times against Peterborough

I don't know where NML or Barkhuizen even fit in this system

I expect Fornah to replace Smith at some point which will hopefully free up Hourihane more.

I still think our players are better suited to a 4-3-3/4-2-3-1, but Warne's committed to playing 2 up front now after signing so many strikers.

Well we haven't been playing 3 at the back of late and in fact our formation has been closer to the one you posted that we should be playing, the 433.

So other than that, great post mate, keep up the drivel 👍

Wilson should be back not long after the international break so dont think a RB was needed

Then Ward hopefully only about 2 weeks or so after that. Certainly both due back by the end of October. A blow for sure but hard to justify bloating the squad and wages when Jake Rooney is doing a fine job there for now

  8. I think he would be coming in not as a guaranteed starter and someone we are relying upon but an option and someone who can do something different. That's no bad thing.

If this meant Hourihane, or Thompson, or Bird were out the door and this was the touted replacement I'd be concerned but as it is I am not.

Sunderland fans say he's better off the bench, that suits me just fine, there's competition in those midfield positions so he won't get a sniff if he plays and he's a passenger

  9. Tom Cannon from Everton who has played around 20 first team games on loan from Everton at Preston is off to Leicester for around £7m

Are we right to hold out for at least 3m?

1/3 of a Krystian Bielik? (I know we overpaid for him but there's always another sucker out there to fool if you wait for a bid)

I can’t see why he would sign a contract with us. I wouldn’t if I were him.
I guess the only reason is risk of career ending illness/injury meaning he wouldn’t get a move next summer but that’s highly unlikely at his age

If we can match the terms or at least get close to the terms being offered by Brighton I think he'd stay. Money talks.

I think if he had made it clear he wants to go and won't sign a new deal then he'd be gone already, and he wouldn't be starting games for us.

It's obvious by the way it's been said that the speculation has weighed heavily on him that he is torn on what he does next

You say you wouldn't if you were him but thing is, you are not him and none of us know what motivates him or what he has in mind. Will he join Brighton to be sent out on dubious loan moves across the country and eventually sold for a profit? Or is he going there to play football.

If I was a young footballer, I know that my number one priority would be playing football

Never heard of the lad until yesterday

Neither had we until he made his Liverpool debut against us in the cup last year.

So that's how Warne knows of him by the way. Don't want you going away thinking we'd done any scouting or legwork with our recruitment team finding a player who fits what we want.

He played well against us last year in one game so we want him

Incidentally, this is not any sort of comment on Bobby Clark as a player or his quality. He is highly rated by Liverpool and I would be excited to see how he gets on here. Would be a positive signing

  12. This will be clarified today one of two ways - either he goes or he signs a new contract

I don't think we can afford to turn down a 7 figure sum for a player out of contract at the end of the season. We need to make a big statement in our finances one way or another today and either raise our wage bill or get a windfall transfer figure in the books.

I really hope we can keep him, I think he is extremely valuable to our promotion aspirations and I hope there's room in the budget to give him a long contract.

Even our touted figure of 3m is not that much in today's football figures but its 3m more than we will get if we lose him at the end of the season

  13. 13 hours ago, BramcoteRam84 said:

I’ve heard of him. Very decent would be a good move. If he does go to Blackpool that’s confirmation if we needed it they’re outbidding us financially. Only way they beat us to Rhodes.

I think there's a few other possibilities, including maybe that we were never in for him

Or rather what I think is that we aren't going in strong on these players. We need to spend money but we don't want to waste money getting caught in bidding wars

  14. Call me bitter but I did then and still do feel that Attwell is an atrocious referee and can't understand why he's had such a career at the top level when he clearly just gets things wrong, and then tries to atone with an even worse decision in the opposite direction as if that evens things up.

I'm pretty sure in that famous East Midlands Derby he sent off Lewis McGugan quite harshly

So it wasn't all against us. He's just crap and has been crap for 15+ years

Look at those formations! Would be giving a few of the FM and FIFA armchair coaching legends palpitations!!

Don't know if that's true... This team once won a treble. Don't know if you recognise them. History does indeed repeat itself

  16. Still wasn't very good was it?

If Fleetwood had equalised in the final moments of the game, you wouldn't have thought it was undeserved

We won but we didn't do enough to say we deserved the win.

Rooney and Thompson were really good, and were rewarded by being subbed off. Don't think a single substitution today did us any favours. Each one seems to set us further and further back.

Seriously nervy win. I hope it's just needing the monkey off our back at home and we can improve from here

  17. My favourite thing about all this is the amount of people on here and on Twitter who are claiming that they have a season ticket in the South Stand and love to join in the atmosphere

Statistically some of you are lying because the South Stand is like a library if we haven't scored in the first 15 minutes..

  18. Think on this for a moment too. If the drum is in D block, the rowdiest block, and is getting complaints there, maybe it isn't doing much for the people who do want to sing and create an atmosphere.

If D Block don't want it, it probably doesn't have a home anywhere. Those are the people least likely to moan about the drum, and yet they have done
