  1. It just shows Clowes' inexperience as an owner really.

Not in a particularly bad way, but just from the perspective that everyone knows when a manager gets the "100% vote of confidence" from the board, he's got less than 5 games left

  2. I'm still very much Warne Out but I must say it's a bit harsh to say this was a routine win because how exactly is one supposed to impress if we beat the teams we're supposed to beat, which in fans minds is most of the division? The coaches are damned if they do and damned if they don't.

I think we have to enjoy the win and realise you can only beat what's in front of you and tonight we did beat them.

Long term I don't have the confidence but tonight we did the business.

I could speak for hours about what this tells us about the squad, the coaching team, the fans, the style of play, how we are better when we get it on the floor now and again rather than out wide and cross into an empty box, how we should line up in future, how poor Exeter were etc etc

But that's not important right now so I won't go into it

  3. Anyone who is familiar with football has to realise that it is now a question of "when" and not "if".

The writing is on the wall, all the signs are there with fan reactions, player reactions, same old interview stereotypes etc

The answer to "when" should be "now". No better time, no time to delay. Let's not waste any more precious fixtures

Wishful thinking on your part. Am sure that at the time DC said another club were in for Warne so if he had the pick of a couple of teams to manage then he was in the driving seat and really wasn't going to have his contract packed full of break clauses to suit the club.

I agree with you, but then that's not the right way to do business really is it?

If his demands don't fit what we want, we don't hire him. Nobody is bigger than the club and its strategy.

Put simply, if we wanted to have a manager's contract with break clauses and performance targets, we would have had one. It just might not have been Paul Warne... (if only)

  5. He'll be playing Tuesday night. Hopefully that will be a game where he can again show us what he can do.

I mean if he doesn't play Tuesday night, forget about him. He'll be out the door in January if he's not playing midweek. Pretty sure he will be playing though

  6. I prefer a 4 but as has been said we have recruited for a 5.

5 at the back was not working at the start of the season and I was crying out for 4 at the back. That had limited success for a bit and then seemed to yield similar results, only really marginally better performances

So at this point, I think we can comfortably play either and I think there are larger issues at play than the formation. I think these get addressed when we do what we did Tuesday with the "sometimes 5, sometimes 4" but in the opening few games it was dreadful when we did that and we seemed lost on who was supposed to be where and who was marking who. It was chaos.

I don't think we have addressed the chaotic and frankly confusing football we try to play. We are so much better with the ball on the floor and at our feet but we seem to set up for games playing an ineffective direct style. Because that's what the manager wants to do.

Which is fine if that's what the guy in charge wants. I think a rethink will be needed if the guy in charge wants to still be in charge this time next year

  7. From what I understand, the main objection is that established fan groups who were (rightly or wrongly) deemed to not have "put a stop" to Mel Morris would be on the SB, along with 3 unelected independent members.

I think it comes down to a belief that these people were easily led by the previous ownership, and the belief that a selection process for the independents does nothing to stop this happening. Particularly if a member of the actualbboard, a member of FSA who probably knows little about our club, and a politician or local figure with their own agenda, is doing the selecting.

I think it is important people understand that this is the main point of the opposition. We need to understand that if we are to agree on anything.

Now. The next question is what is the alternative that will settle these fears?

    Any suggestions?

(FWIW I am in support of the SB as it currently is suggested. Though the concerns raised are relatively valid)

    Right though isn't he

    Not really.

Point 1 you've got Barkhuizen, NML, Sibley, Washington, Wilson, Ward, TJJ. And plenty of others who are pretty quick if the pass is good.

Point 2 is just rubbish for the reasons I've stated. If he doesn't like being booed off, he needs to provide good results. You can't have your cake and eat it. If you serve up boring football but win games, you won't face the wrath of the fanbase. It's not WWE, they're not trying to pop the crowd. It's a results game

  9. He's just said on the radio two absolutely astounding things.

"We only have two or three players at the club with electric pace [...] who can play counter attacking football"

"If we played like that at Pride Park we'd get booed off at half time"

Why does he have to ruin every good moment he manages to create?

The players get clapped off the pitch at full time every single game at Pride Park. Half time, there would not have been booing if we had played that first half where we kept it tight and then created some good chances.

Why does he treat the fans of this club with such utter disdain and contempt every time he speaks?

    Can anyone explain that miss?

Can't justify it but I can explain it.

He didn't expect to receive the ball one on one with the keeper and doesn't fancy the shot on his left first time, ends up moving it further to the left and rounds the goalkeeper, and finds he's made it even harder on his left but with only an outfield defender in his way and just panics.

    Pure panic

If that's what's in the contract, yes, we will. s*** happens. Unfortunately, it always seems to happen at Derby. Light training session and he tears his quad taking his 4th practice corner... the Derby Way.

I actually think things like "we'll still be paying his wages" shouldn't be public knowledge. I think that only serves to cause upset with fans.

It's refreshing transparency from the club but from a PR perspective that's something I would have kept under the rug. It's what we have to do contractually I'm sure but I'd rather we didn't know
