TomBustler1884 got a reaction from atherstoneram in Wayne Rooney
I was quite vocal in my opposition to Rooney last season, and before everything got even more serious, I was keen for him to leave at the end of the Sheff Wed game.
He has done okay with the team this season, but yes, as a representative of the club he has kept his dignity and acted as a rallying point for the club, and for that I thank him.
I agree with @Carl Sagan my suspicion is he wont be here that long, whether that is his decision or the administrators, but hopefully I'm wrong.
One thing I would say is that we've been very lucky to have had Wayne through this, and Philip Cocu through the various debacles (including the Joiners mess). Both have represented our club excellently at times when they must have wondered what the hell they have gotten themselves into.
It didn't work for Cocu on the pitch, but off it, he was outstanding. It would have been interesting to see how he would have coped with this too.

If you mean the one we did, it was the size of an upper tier block in the south stand and said We Are Derby with tonnes of Rams legends on it.
It has been missing for a good few years now. We packed it away after using it, and when we came back, it wasn't there anymore. Nobody at the club could ever explain what happened to it. The theory is that they were building the Yard at the time, it somehow ended up in there and the builders chucked it away with their waste.
So that was nice.
As for all the other flags we did, again, they were left with the club to use once we stopped operating. Last I heard they were left out in the rain or stored whilst wet, and when they went back to them, they were all green/mouldy/disgusting and got thrown away too.
Shame really.

Surely the RIGHT thing to do for Mel, not just for the club, but his own reputation in the city, is to say any buyer pays the debts, but will be given the stadium back for nothing.
He loses out on rent but is still Ble to show his face in Derby.
I will admit I'm POSSIBLY being a bit naive.

TomBustler1884 reacted to Bris Vegas in Time to walk away Wayne
Phillip Cocu is the only manager during Mel Morris's reign that actually followed the club vision. You know, playing the youth, improving the youth and looking to add value to the team.
The likes of Lampard, Rowett and even McClaren had no interest in doing so. They wanted promotion first and foremost at Derby to enhance their own reputation, and they were willing to leave a trainwreck behind to then move on to better pastures.
What Rowett did in particular was unforgivable. He sold Hughes and signed Davies, Huddlestone, Ledley, Jerome etc. He was responsible for a 20% hike on our wage bill to £40 million+. He did all that to have one shot at promotion, and the playoff finish enhanced his reputation, then he ditched us the moment a better opportunity came along.
Phillip Cocu, on the other hand, was here for the long haul. He was willing to sacrifice his own reputation (Forest away in the cup) to play the youth players as that benefited the club. He publically backed Tom Lawrence after the crash, and played him to an extent that he retained his value despite many wanting TL sacked. To the benefit of the club. He wanted to provide a pathway for the younger players to either break in to the first team, or be sold for a profit, to the benefit of the club.
He was undermined following Wayne Rooney's arrival. He was dealt with a ridiculous set of circumstances including the Keogh fiasco, Krystian Bielik's injury and Chris Martin leaving. We failed to sign a striker replacement, and saw our better players leave. And after all that, he reduced his compensation fee after his sacking, to the benefit of the club...
Most in his position would have told Mel to do one.

TomBustler1884 got a reaction from r_wilcockson in Embargo.
Personally, i think if it means exiting embargo, delivers a takeover and ends all this, then take the penalty.
This ongoing state of nothingness is a disaster for every part of the club and it needs to end.

TomBustler1884 reacted to Heisenberg in v Peterborough (A) Match Day Thread
Now is time for Mel Morris to face the music and admit defeat to the EFL.
We CANNOT end the window with this squad of players. Threadbare, inexperienced and totally out of its depth. Additions are desperately needed.
Peterborough would’ve been picked off 2 or 3-0 by any other competent Championship side after they had conceded the 1st. Unforgivable.
Take the points deduction and deal with it head on. This constant limbo is crippling.
We’re good as down if nothing changes between now and September 1st.
