ketteringram reacted to Ram-Alf in World Cup Qatar
Taken from the BBC
How many fans are going?
About 3,000 to 4,000 England fans are expected to travel to Qatar for the group stages, with numbers set to increase should Gareth Southgate's side reach the knockout stages.
An estimated 2,000 to 3,000 supporters will fly out to follow Wales, who are playing in their first World Cup since 1958.
Ashley Brown, the Football Supporters' Association head of supporter engagement, says the "big unknown" is the number of British expats, with "more than 20,000 British passport holders in Qatar and probably over 100,000 overall in the region".
Brown says England fans are not travelling in the same numbers as previous tournaments because of the costs involved, while the timing of the World Cup - outside of the usual summer school holidays - will "impact the ability of families to attend".
"For a lot of people Qatar doesn't sound like an exciting place to go, it's not a typical holiday destination, lack of alcohol availability, cost of getting there, cost when you're there, it's put a lot of people off," added Brown. "The cost of living absolutely plays a part in that."
Paul Corkrey, of the Football Supporters' Association Cymru added: "We took 50,000 to the 2016 Euros in France so the response has been muted mainly because of the location and time of year it is being played."
As for half empty stadiums
If reports are correct people are/will be paid or asked/told to turn up, Qatar/FIFA will not want the world to see Stadia not full as this will be bad for both Qatar/FIFA, So I guess just wait and see ?♀️

I wasn't going to bother with this, but have read some of the reviews on IMDb. Some of the top ones, and some of the ones that give it 1/10.
Based simply on how horrendous those poor ones make this sound, I'm going to try watching it ?

No. No need for any police to be involved at all once there's no risk of them falling. Just leave them there.

I assume it's perfectly acceptable, if I track him down, and seriously screw up his day a few days in a row.

In the case of resales, they'll always be an official site for resales, who will offer the same protections you'd expect when buying new, and should never offer tickets above face value.

Ticketmaster are a nightmare.
If you're not in the pre-sale category, you might as well not bother.
I tried to get Spingsteen tickets, logged in on the dot, and the only available tickets were well over £400, for a standing ticket.
For the Arctic Monkeys gig, I'd bought the vinyl just to get presale access, it took about half an hour to eventually buy some face value tickets.
They claim they have the dynamic pricing to deter scalpers, but other companies seem to be able to sidestep them without becoming scalpers themselves, it's pure greed.
The artists themselves need to take a good long look in the mirror when using Ticketmaster, imo.
Especially Bruce, who's long claimed to put on a Hollywood show at working man's prices.

I might be getting a little unrealistic now, but Liverpool and Everton would be good.

All episodes on iPlayer too. Proper British TV drama, with a great cast.

I'll have to try it .
Liked the first series of Killing Eve, hated everything after that .
Loved Deutschland 83, and hated 86 and 89. ?

I know what you mean about the follow-up seasons being disappointing. Killing Eve especially got ridiculous and was almost a parody of itself by the end. Deutschland too - all started to stretch the boundaries of disbelief after a while
I think you'll enjoy Kleo then - as it has the "first series" feel with nothing to be ruined yet. Online says it hasn't been currently renewed for a season 2 as it only just aired. I haven't finished it, so I don't know if it's obviously set up for one or not

Although to be fair, it’s a pretty crap word, and probably not worth trying to bring it back. ?

Shout out to the "Balance" App - currently free for a year, though you can choose to donate if you want to.
I've been struggling with work stress for a few months and especially with being unable to stay asleep & waking up anxious & irritable every day. Not sure how my wife has put up with me.
This meditiation app was recommended to me by a friend and, after 4 days, I can already feel a big benefit. It doesn't matter if you're new to meditation or an expert, as the programme will be tailored to what experience you have, and the issues you are looking to address.

And I'd like to think that another big proportion of the people liking it is because they know the story and recognise and are proud of the fact that Britain has in our recent history been a welcoming destination to many people from around the world that has turned us into the vibrant and diverse population we now are.
That doesn't right the wrongs of earlier (and most lately) behaviours but it is an ideal many of us still believe in.

Is this a good place for tributes? (I like to keep things tidy.)
I thought this was rather beautiful.

If you do not wish to pay your respects to the Queen, that's fine, being respectful to the members on this forum that wish to though isn't a big ask.
This really is not the time or the place to discuss personal views on the monarchy.

I saw Wishbone Ash, and Hawkwind at Cheltenham town hall (separate nights) around same time, though possibly '74.

Or alternatively, polite fellow motorists who understand that sometimes it is very hard to exit or enter junctions onto/from busy main roads and who therefore signal that they are offering help, and a degree of protection, from other motorists too impatient to allow others to enter the highway.
It may be against the HC to 'flash' your lights to others in a positive manner but, equally, if you don't do that other drivers are often uncertain if you are offering a gap or not. Try not signalling when cars are filtering ahead of you into a single lane for example and watch how the uncertainty leads to hesitation and therefore danger.
I would agree that grinding to a sudden, unexpected halt in a flow of traffic to let someone out can be dangerous but shouldn't we all be helping each other out? Using a quick, positive headlight flash to signal intention/permission is no bad thing.
