If you're referring to the Joiners incident, unlikely as he wasn't here at the time.

If you're referring to Bitcoin, that probably wasn't his fault either.

Have Bobby Duncan and Ruja Ignatova ever been seen in the same place at the same time? Went AWOL about the same time... #justsayin

And I’m sure he’s been paid quite handsomely. He’s no more loyal than any player released after not being awarded a contract.

Do you feel that both club and player have been equally consistent though? I.e. the loyalty goes both ways and that's something that isn't common in modern football.

For what it's worth I would like to keep him and enjoy these rare moments of sentimentality!

Looks like he’s for the first team then. Not entirely sure about that, he’s only ever played kids football, are we sure he’s ready for League One? Mens football is a different game entirely.

Still, I’m presuming he’ll be the understudy to whoever we bring in to replace Byrne (when we finally get that mess sorted), so I guess he won’t be under too much pressure. Good to have competition for places at least, been a while since we’ve had that - welcome Kwaku!

To be fair you could say this about a number of lads who played last year, got to take the step up sometime but if you're good enough, you're old enough in my book. Sounds like Liam is looking to bring in experience at RB too but sounded like he was confident in Kwaku's ability.

  4. I think we have to be realistic about where we are. Whilst the signings so far are astute and exciting, we have a lot of new players and little time to gel. This is a tough league, a heavy schedule and we will be seen as the team everyone wants to beat. We are still short of at least 5 players, so there will be further 'disruption' to the squad as signings are made and people settle in. It'll be difficult to hit the ground running and we could easily see some disappointing results in the first 10 games, if we are top 10 at that point, I'd be content.

We have a bright, talented but inexperienced manager, who will undoubtedly learn some harsh lessons along the way.

Outside of the playing squad, we will be overhauling the structure of the club and trying to rebuild in a coherent way.

None of that will happen over night, so I'm managing my expectations. At this point, I would expect a top 10 finish and hope for a play off spot. I don't think top 2 is realistic and we should be very careful not to create unnecessary pressure.

We as fans have a huge role to play next season in showing our unconditional support, you can see how important that is for the players.

    exactly.

i thought wayne said his long term goal was to manage everton or man utd. This move puts that back a few years

This. Such a bizarre move. Doubt we'll ever know, at least not until his next bare all autobiography...

Age and experience doesn't automatically equal know-how.

It seems people are now happy for us to chuck away wages on players happy to sit on the bench knowing and being happy with the fact that  they'll hardly ever have to play to earn them, just because they're popular in the dressing room. Beats me!

The more important word in my post is leadership, and I agree age is no guarantee of that or know how. However, the guys we have signed in that bracket have all had successful careers and have held leadership roles at previous clubs. This suggests to me that they have something to offer on and off the pitch in, what will be, a very tough campaign.

Having the right blend of youth and experience, has typically served clubs well at this level. I would like us to recruit on the younger end of the scale for the remaining gaps though.

  7. The kind of leadership and know how that Davies, Stearman, McGoldrick et al will bring in a tough, competitive league will be critical.

We've needed to recruit consistently and around character and culture for a while, I'm glad we're learning.

Love the attitude of all the signings so far. Hope it helps to convince the youngsters and contracted players to stick around and fight for promotion.

It’s got Derby 0-1 Oxford written all over it. Similar to when we lost to Doncaster at home 0-1 in 2008.

Lots of new players, a move down in division. May take a month or two.

But no need to panic. Some of the very best teams get off to slow starts. Even Man City who don’t ever seem to get going until mid October.

Ha this was what I was going to post pretty much word for word!

    Ever the optimist.

It would be nice to start with a convincing win but it's not the Derby Way.

He’s hardly played so not going to be match fit is he….

There's not match sharp and there's looking unfit though, it's different. To me he's looked laboured and unfit, so perhaps not working hard enough in training? Could explain Rooney's lack of faith and trust.

Like I said, he's got talent and I hope he gets a chance and makes the most of it.

  10. I'd love Sibbo to tear it up but he's looked off the pace and unfit for me. Not sure if this is down to confidence, our tactics or not having a run in the side. Has there been any explanation or ITK to say why?

He's clearly got talent and we need youngsters to balance out the experience we're bringing in on free transfers.

I hope he stays and makes a name for himself.

Forsyth is one of the best Crossers of the ball I've seen in a derby shirt , mcgoldrick should get on the end of them too could be tasty

When he gets it right and has movement in the box his crossing is a thing of beauty. Some of the balls in for Martin, Bryson and Russell back in the day were delicious. You'd hope he would do a good job in L1

i am not saying kids caerphilly. i am saying players approaching their prime, lots of clubs are clocking on that old players arent worth the investment.

i just dont want us to repeat the same mistakes which looks like we are doing with the signings linked/signed so far.

I think others have made the point but worth repeating. There's a big difference between signing an experienced pro who fits the culture and playing style for nowt on a two year deal than spending £5m on a 30 year old on a four year deal who doesn't fit with anything.

We will have to take a few calculated risks and not everyone will work out but the risks are much lower and our options much narrower.

I think you'll see a couple of younger prospects coming in as well as the established pros. Hopefully Rosenior et al will have learned a lot from last season in terms of squad composition and having a strong culture.

Superb player but I think best scenario for us is to loan him out until January and hope he'll have a cracking World Cup. Then we might get most of the money back by selling him to one of the Turkish giants or similar.

Whilst he is a talent, our track record on such matters isn't great, so I think a loan and then a January sale is a good shout for all parties. If he genuinely wants to stay and commits 100% then I'd take him at his word but you'd think he will want to give himself the chance of going to the WC.

The player will almost certainly dictate what happens here.
