how is he losing 1.5 million a month atm? staff and player wages are absolutely tiny and we've just sold god knows how many season tickets.

Assume its something to do with servicing all the debt the club is burdened with. Didn't we organize loans with 15% interest rates or something mad?

Lost for words. How a supporter of the club can let this happen is beyond me. Understand the EFL has an equal measure of blame, but the club is in the worst position its ever been in. If there isn't a communication from the club before tomorrow, I expect there to be trouble at PP before kick-off. Can't imagine Mel will want to show his face.

  3. Wrist slashers out in full force again.

Their two goals came from luck. The first a poor back pass, well saved by Roos who then saved the second but it fell to Hogan. The second, a lucky ricochet with a good finish.

We looked the more threatening going forward. Lawrence had two good attempts saved, which I actually think he should have done better with. The first especially as that was a neat passage of play with a poor finish at the end.

Brum were hard to break down. But so were we.

Special shout out to the ref who managed to give us 16+ free kicks and still went easy on Brum. Joke officiating again, least it didn't cost us a goal this time.

Really good analysis. On Sibley, he is exciting in moments but he needs to improve his tactical awareness, positioning when the opposition have the ball and his concentration when committing himself in closing players down. Basically get better at the duller side of the game

Yeah very true. Im hoping it comes as he gets a little older and more experienced. He's quite slight still too and has some bulking out to do which I think will vastly improve his overall play. He's an incredibly exciting prospect and I'd venture to say he's got similar attributes as Grealish.

  5. Controlled the first half with the game going more into Boro's the second. Was very physical as Rooney expected and a draw against a fairly good Boro side isn't to be sniffed at.

Sibley struggled a little today. Talent is there but they nullified his driving runs well. He did draw the best save of the match though and he will be in the goals this year if Rooney keeps playing him. Bird was quality again, recycling the ball and linking well between defense and attack. He's going to be an asset.

That was Shinnies type of game. Physical. Lots of tackling. Lots of tracking back. Played well.

Morrison a class above at this level. Vision, touch, tackling, passing, positioning. All fantastic. Makes it all look so easy. Keep it up!!

Obviously Jags and Davies played well, and Roos marshalled it well behind them with some big saves, good footwork and decent punches. Seems to be more confident this year than last.

Joz's ball carrying ability is some of the best in this league. Just needs that finishing touch in front of goal. Confidence to strike it and we've got a huge threat.

Not a classic match but I'll take a draw, plus forest lost so what's not to like.

  6. Great win. Jags and Davies look very strong at the back, Bird and Joz looked completely different players and back to their best, and thought Buchanan was an improvement on Forsyth on the left.

Morrison runs the show and is a classy act. Just hope he keeps it up. Sibley struggled physically today but his driving runs are a huge threat. Him, Joz and Morrison are as good as you'll get on the ball in this division in my view. Cracking interchange between them.

The ball slows down alot with Shinnie which is a weakness in this system. Think we'll see further improvement when Bielik returns. Him and Bird in the middle may not balance though so that'll be interesting to see.

Baldock did ok and got a goal. Works in this system as he doesn't need to create or holdup much. Just run behind and be in the right spot.

Roos also strong tonight. His drop on Huddlestones head was lucky to be called a freekick but he was solid and good with his feet again.

Gaining confidence that Rooney knows what he is doing. This team is going to grow in stature this season. Think we'll have a positive one.

  7. Great OP.

Does seem concerning that we're reliant on Shinnie currently. Be interesting to see if tomorrows developments mean we bring in someone else as it'll cement what you say.

Have you got any insights into how this is countered and what our plan B is? Are there tweeks to this set up which are easy to implement but are difficult to match up too?

  8. Wow. Byrne not clearing his lines after Davies and Bird clashed in the air. Should have won this. Stupid mistakes costing us again. Think we controlled the game well until their first goal and then just seemed to lose composure. Need to see some character to get back to winning ways after this.

It's not a good tactic though is it. It just drags our midfield wide out of position, leaves a gaping hole in the middle of the pitch. Then Morrison and Lawrence, two attacking players who need the ball high up the pitch, have to keep coming deep.

Lawrence and Morrison are the only ones who can move the ball quickly. Thats why it's set up that way. It is creating space down the flanks but agree it's leaving CKR exposed. Can see what he's trying to do though. Need better final balls over the top for me and for one of the two who don't dont drop to sit closer to CKR/ drop in that space.

I hate it when Morrison and Lawrence keep coming deep but they have to as it’s just backwards and sideways back there. In fairness ckr should never be a first choice striker

It's a Rooney tactic. One of those comes deep, full back pushes up and deep lying CMs go to full back. Meant to pull them out and mess with their press. Does leave us exposed up front though and reliant on balls over the top to Ebosele. Little bit one dimensional

Didn't show on the app for me either, I went through the website.

On checking, I can't see the extended highlights on the website either.. does anyone know if that's because such highlights are only part of the Rams Membership subscription vs the monthly Rams TV subscription? I'm assuming the Rams TV subscription doesn't automatically make you a Rams Member...

Are these extended highlights only on the website rather than the app? The highlights below are only 2 mins long (same for Vs Hudders) and I'm a paid up monthly subscription member.

  13. It might be me but the highlights this season seem to be a lot shorter than last season's (from 7-10 mins to 2-3 mins). I'm all for a quick recap of the game but I do like a longer version that shows key plays, close misses and a few different angles of the goals etc. I try and watch the games real-time but when i do miss them, I struggle to watch the full recap so extended highlights were a great way to catch up.

For me the one player we have to make this all work is Biliek.. Think back to the recent years of Eustace and Thorne allowing our attackers to thrive. Until he comes back I'm not sure we can cope with 1 defensive midfielder? Shinnie? I would like to see Rooney try this though

Completely agree. Think we'll see more of Sibley when Bielik is back, or at least thats when there'll be more comfort in playing him. Bielik is going to be the key for us and I just hope he's going to come back strong before the end of September. It'll give the rest of the attack so much more leeway defensively, and should also give us that much needed creativity. I do think a midfield of Bielik, Morrison and Sibley with Bird and Shinnie available on rotation will be a force in this division.

The current defensive mentality does worry me a bit. Our defense isn't particularly strong and is an injury away from a crisis. However, it feels as though it's out of necessity at the mo - we can't really afford to concede more than 1 a game.

  15. Wasn't Rooney's biggest fan, even a week or so ago. But to see the crap that he's been dealt with during pre season with no funds, inability to bring in transfers and an owner who doesn't want to be there, I'm starting to warm to him and what he's about. You can see his desire to succeed and I do think he is doing all he can to bring Derby out of the mire we're in.

He's assembling what could be a fairly competitive squad and managed to pull a team together today that produced a result without having played together. Huddersfield aren't the strongest side in the division but you have to play what's in front of you.

He's got some games to win before he proves himself as manager but Im routing for him.

  16. Good to get a point today given the turbulence over pre season. Was impressed by Roos, Bird, Shinnie and Forsyth today, and Sibley changed the game when he came on with his forward runs and confidence. Pretty sure Sibley had half our total shot count. Shinnie won the ball well, Bird played fairly positively and recycled the ball well and Forsyth's crosses we're quite dangerous. Roos looked composed, great shot stopping and sucked up pressure with his catching.

Davis and Stearman looked ok together but there were a couple of nervy moments. Defending set pieces and the odd down the channel balls causing issues. Not sure how much of that comes down to Roos, but as experienced CBs I want them to step up.

Typical CKR performance. We need an alternative though as he won't be able to do that all season. Lawrence and Watson put themselves around but didn't create enough for me and Byrne was up and down that right side but again didn't really do anything of note.

As others have said, with the ball at his feet, Joz looks great but end product just doesn't seem to be there. No killer instinct today and multiple shooting or final ball opps were not taken/wasted. Not sure whether he needs more time off or more freedom in a Derby shirt but he needs to show a lot more.

Didn't think Ebosele or Hutchinson did much when they came on but glad they got minutes.

Add some creativity from Morrison, give Sibley more time and get Bielik back and we're not half bad.

Yep, the EFL revised the price down a bit after lots of complaints.

I think it was on the DCFC website.

Thanks both - sounds like Gibson actually did something good for once... (apologies for saying that out loud)
