Loved the Cox era. Thought we were doomed for eternity when we dropped into division 3 but he was a messiah.
McMinn, Saunders, Goddard, Micklewhite what a forward line that was like a well oiled machine. Was gutted when Goddard went to Millwall, Goddard and Saunders were the best forward partnership I think I have seen at Derby but all too brief (I just missed Hector & O’Hare)

If this is true (not doubting at all), shows how bothered 'mel' was about the club!  Rooney has dealt with everything this season with class and we need to stick by him things are going better than expected at the moment on the pitch but even if not, we need to remember things like this.

Excited at the prospect of seeing a resurgence of Derby County Football Club.
So many things have been shaken in the past year and there is a need to “Awake and strengthen that which remains.”
Fifty years ago we were the top team in the country.
Forty years ago Forest ruled the roost.
Recently our manager was the most successful player in England.
    Forever changes…..that’s life!

If Wayne gets his eight players then we will make the play offs. The style of play is absolutely obvious. It is ideal for this league. We have a defensive plan. We have a midfield plan. We are resilient and committed. We can be quickly derailed by injuries. We KNOW where we are heading now. COYR.

After the signings today I have changed my mind. We will win 0-5 in a triumphant display of Rooneyball. Jagielka will be an absolute brick wall at the back and Baldock will score a perfect hat-trick.

Rooney has had multiple interviews now, where he has been asked the question about walking away. He consistently says no. We have been crying out for stability and loyalty from a manager since Nigel Clough. He arguably has the toughest job of any manager for as long as I can remember supporting Derby (22 years) and despite having a bare minimum squad and having all the problems above him, he continues to show that he cares and wants to do well.
We are starting to see a style of play which is exciting and attacking with the handful players he has.
I think it's about time everyone starts to show respect to him instead of wanting him out. Any other manger would have left us in this mess.

He's sticking with us, we need to stick with him !!

I thought as ‘Rooney’ said in his interview the young lads grew into men during the game, you can see why he wants some more experienced pros into the club, just to help them, we can’t have that side from last night starting in the championship, but we can have them playing around 10 games a season alongside the experienced pros.Didn’t think any of them looked out of place.
It’s been a while since I enjoyed a match as much as that, just for the pure effort and desire that they put in, yes mistakes were made, which is understandable, but it showed that a lot of thes players could become regular 1st team players if handled properly and bulk up a bit, also loved the passion after Watson’s winning penalty.
A quick shout out about Brown as well, not many people have mentioned him, thought he went about his job effectively. Also I know a lot of people don’t want Rooney as manager, but after the match I actually thought, I hope he succeeds here and becomes a top manager, I have total respect for him not walking away, because I think most would have, are his tactics perfect? No, but just for sticking with us and sheer bloody mindness, I hope he does well.
finally a shout out to our fans, we seem to have this ‘we’re all in this together mentality’ after years of moaning and groaning from the stands, it’s great to hear us getting behind the lads, let’s hope this continues, we made need it.

I’m so unbelievably proud of our lads tonight. Rooney was spot on in saying they grew from boys into men during the 90 minutes. So many positives, we not only have extremely talented youngsters, they also have real bravery and character.
Take the first 20 mins out of it when nerves got the better of them, from that point they were outstanding. Festy is frightening!! Must be quickest player in the championship, Watson got better and better and demonstrated his ability to thread a killer pass on numerous occasions, great goal by Hutchinson, Williams at 17 looks a real talent and has improved rapidly in just 10 days since Notts County, the guts of Brown and Watson to take pens and score the best pens of the lot (behind Kazim’s). Sibley showed flashes of what he can do, thought Joz did ok and Allsop after a shaky start was excellent in goal. Then we get to Ravel, we saw the genius with the equaliser but I was more impressed how he was straight to the youngsters after the shootout. Only thing missing was for young Jack to get a goal, thought he struggled on his own up top but really intelligent runs at times, he just needs a goal.

Thought Rooney spoke brilliantly after the game. Whatever his motivations he definitely cares and he’s committed. I also saw a young exciting footballing side tonight with lots of bottle that I can get behind.
We’ve seen a glimpse of what the future looks like tonight and it’s very encouraging. If Mel sorts his poo out then everything is there to become a force again at this level in the next couple of years. If he doesn’t then we might have to give them all away.

TLDR; Enough to be positive about, but the same old problems remain.
I wasn't expecting much from this game. I was just glad to be back, in my second home, with my Dad.
Given the circumstances, the performance yesterday was one deserving of praise. The defence looked largely untroubled. Impressed by Stearman, who I wasn't confident about. It showed a little that he and Curtis Davies hadn't played together, or even trained that much together, and didn't even know if they'd be playing until the day before, but otherwise they showed promise. Thought the full backs kept getting caught out, especially Foz as he was pushing so far up the pitch.
Shinnie was excellent, he was everywhere. Bird did okay, but needed to get on the ball more - need more of those razor sharp passes that set Watson and Sibley away. Thought the former was unlucky not to get a penalty. Lawrence was busy, work rate excellent, shame he wasn't that productive, but again unlucky not to get a penalty.
Definitely need another striker. A typical Colin performance, but sometimes you need something a little different. Jozwiak, I dunno. Feel like he just needs the confidence. One to go in off his backside or something. Went on a great run, but just kept... well... running, where there needed to be a shot or a final pass.
Such a Derby goal to concede though. But again, when the 2 CBs have barely been playing together, or weren't even sure if they were going to be playing... how do you work on set pieces?
A point was a fair result to me.
But none of that matters to me now. For sadly, my Dad passed away suddenly Sunday morning. A lifelong Ram who saw Derby win championships, beat European giants, drop to the third tier, nearly go out of business under Maxwell, and rise back again to the Premier League. I'm just so glad that, even with Derby in the situation they find themselves in, he managed to see one last game with me, one last goal. What happened on the pitch wasn't especially memorable, but the day definitely will be.
Up the Rams. Be kind. x

There are several possibilities and they all stem from Mel's vision in developing our academy to be one of the best in the country. If, as hoped, several of those young players go on to perform well for us and move us up the table, how many of those currently slagging off Mel Morris will be prepared to eat humble pie and recognise that?
