He was in the box, perfect position at the end of last nights game almost exactly as you describe and unfortunately didn’t seem to read the flight of the ball from McGoldrick my best guess. (It’s on the highlights if you didn’t see it).
Right now Lady Luck is deserting him, he’s just not getting a break; must be mentally very frustrating for a striker.

I think Collins and Rosenior should go through videos of his games so far to analyse the positions he takes up in the box.
Often only a slide rule precision pass would find him at the far post beyond the keeper and a defender.

I wonder how things will work out with Collins? At present, he looks like he could go for another hundred games without scoring.
You can't fault his effort. Indeed he clearly wants to score and is doing everything he can to make it happen. He visibly tenses as soon as he goes into the box. As the cliche states, he's trying too hard.
His past record suggests that he is more than capable of scoring goals at this level. The problem is that the manager can only afford to give him a certain amount of before dropping him. Once that happens, it's possible that he might never get the game time to play himself back into form.
In his favour is that results have been good, even with a misfiring centre-forward. For now, Rosenior has the luxury of not needing to drop Collins. However,  Collins needs his form to pick before we hit a sticky patch or he'll just be a low rent Derek Hales.

He will have to control the ball first.
The more desperate he becomes to score the less likely it looks.
    It’s almost cruel.
Hope he gets one and that it’s a cracker. It might relax him.

None. Cheese on toast with stuff bunged on top by a spotty twelve year old.
Not my favourite - like Macdonalds, something I only eat if the grandkids insist.

It was madness that with a man extra we didn’t put someone on the half way line when they got a corner.
Should have been Dobbin up there. They would have kept two men back meaning with the taker, we would have a 9-7 advantage in the box.

I have to admit that I find it hard to get excited about watching most of the teams we are now up against but when I get to the game that’s all forgotten.
We have to learn from this experience how things can go wrong and what it feels like to be bracketed with (no offence intended) Accrington Stanley and Cheltenham.
I think at home we have the skill to overcome most teams in our league.
Away from home I’m not sure we have the physicality we need, especially in midfield.
I’m looking forward to visiting some away grounds but if the trains are like they were yesterday I might have to walk to them!

I’ve watched the incident several times and I must say, I’d be very unhappy if that had been given against us and one of our defenders had been sent off. It’s difficult without slow motion but it looked to me as if the defender pulled his leg away and Barks just went down to “win” the foul. I thought at the time that Barks was going to get booked for diving and I haven’t seen a great deal to change my mind. At the very least, no foul should have been given and Barks should have been told to get up and get on with it rather than being booked IMO.
I think we got lucky but we’ve had plenty go against us. Not much consolation to Peterborough though.
