Not sure if it’s a mistake but ITV have Morocco abbreviated to MAR at the top of the tv

    Morocco is the Anglicised spelling.

Presume they had Esp for Spain, if not, bit weird.

  2. I love me some of big Mich's. No pretence of being a tactical expert a la Ferdinand, Neville, Carragher et. al) just an ex-players view with a sense of humour.

He's similar to how Wrighty was when he started out - big personality but in danger of being used just for weak laughs.

But when you've got about 3 minutes to actually discuss the football, it can only be surface level anyway, so no point taking it as earnestly as Jenas, Ferdinand and Neville do for example. All of whom are such tactical geniuses they choose the easy option of the sofa rather than the dugout.

And the government have just approved the first new coal mine in 30 years

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-63892381

It's almost like they don't know what they are doing

It's almost as if a Government can say they have a net zero policy in the hope that the people who vote for them hear this sound bite and think "yes, I shall vote Tory again, at least they're doing something about the environment" whilst at the same time taking actions that go completely against that policy, in the hope that the people who vote for them hear this news and think "well this must be because of that Putin fella, at least it'll create some jobs in the North".

Then when the other side get in in two years and want to be seen to be green, they'll not be able to because someone will demand they commit to closing down the coal mine to show their green credentials, which they won't be able to because it'll cost a load of jobs in the North.

Connecting the dots isn't the electorates strong point, so it's probably a win for the Government. Bloody politics.

  4. Have a drink, have a drive
Go out and see what you can find.
If her daddy's rich, take her out for a meal
If her daddy's poor, just do what you feel.

    - Mungo Jerry

Never gonna stop, give it up, such a dirty mind / I always get it up, for the touch of the younger kind,

    - The Knack

Tonight's the night I've waited for
    Because you're not a baby anymore/
You've turned into the prettiest girl I've ever seen,
    Happy birthday sweet sixteen

    - Neil Sedaka

Reflective of their times but man, people were messed up back in the day when it came to young women (and drink driving in Mungo Jerry's case). Can see why certain attitudes pervade society even today, when these are all pretty well known songs that you probably wouldn't have batted an eyelid to the lyrics to at the time. Probably some people even now.

Also, @Animal is a Ram to player your game- the star after pressing unlock line is Arctic Monkeys, View from the Afternoon.

    Not sure about the other.

  5. I always assumed the half of the population who didn't watch the semi-final of Euro 96 were all 'Rugger' types and folk without electricity.

Now we know it was actually football fans who would cheer their club in an under 8's game rather than support the national team.

I mean, fair play to them I guess.

Seen this on twitter, so thought I’d bring it to the forum. If you could only choose one team to win on Saturday, would it be Derby or England?

For me, the answer is easy. I’d much rather England beat France in a World Cup Final and have the whole country go mad than Derby win a random league game.

Did they just decide we were the two best teams left and told everyone else to go home?

    But yeah England all day.

England winning the World Cup is only beaten by Derby winning the Prem/FA Cup/any European Trophy.

As we're not realistically competing for any of them, our games have taken a back seat until England go out.

What's it got to do with her being a woman? She made a mistake and people are having a laugh about it. Lighten up Ian. People do this all the time. Are you not aware of how people take the piss out of Michael Owen's punditry.

He's probably referring to comments such as the one that says:

"Can't drive, can't swim and now can't add up".

Rather than something like "Maths lesson for Eni!", which lets face it is the sort of thing Souness would have got if it was his mistake.
