Wonder if we could look at Ross Stewart from Southampton on loan. Doubt he will cut it in the Prem and hasn’t had the best of times there so far.

Definitely would fit the criteria of proper number 9 Warne is looking for

He’s only just come back from a long-term injury so not accurate to say he hasn’t had the best of times there. Good player mind.

Seen QPR fans reckon Lyndon Dykes is going leave this summer and I’ve seen Blackburn are interested. Wouldn’t surprise me if we went for him, a very much Warne type striker and still only 28. He has 36 goals and 12 assists in 163 appearances for QPR but is a great target man and would suit us very well imo. Not exactly a groundbreaking player but is definitely championship quality and would suit our system.

Some Champ clubs interested in loaning Jay Stansfield from Fulham, possibly one we could be in for

Just read that Fulham have rejected several loan bids from Champ clubs.

Would look to sell but not for less than £5 million.

I think Birmingham are going in with a £6m bid so anticipate he will end up there at some point.

He does strike me as a viable option for the number 9 option, but hopefully we go abroad. Dykes strikes me as a viable, limited but still not a cheap option. I think he's had injuries in the past too.

£6 million for a league one striker is insane.

I can't see Birmingham having £6 million to spend on him at all.

I'm not sure how they'll do that under the 75% turnover rule dropping to 50 if they don't go up.  They're probably over it now.  Let's hope they blow it and start next season with a nice point deduction.

I really like him I do, was a right handful at Sunderland.

Would be a massive risk though. He has not played for 16 months. Was on the bench for the play off final and didn't come on.

Reading about him this morning, he did not play in Southampton's friendly the other day and their manager has said he is a couple of weeks away from being able to play.

I think if he came back towards the end of the season and had a decent pre season behind him, unscathed, then yes.

But if hes not able to play for another 2 weeks, following on from not playing for 16 months. He wont even be close to being match fit until October and with the length of time he has been out, there is a big chance he will probably pick up another injury.

They've already spent over £10m - including £8m across just two players. £6m for a player already adored by their fans isn't against the realms of possibility.

It's a vanity project for their ownership, although how it applies across the varying financial regulations is anyone's guess.

L1 SCMP rules are easy to avoid as an owner only has to inject more equity into the club to cover it. It also incldues 100% of 'football fortune' revenue (cup money, transfer revenue). 75% drops to 60% in L1.

Their issue would be complying with P&S upon their return to the Championship
