If we go up who would get us into midtable of Champ

If we go up I’d keep the following and add to the following areas of the team to get us at least half way up the championship - obviously depends on formations too…

Gk - New

Right Back - Niambi

Left Back - New

Centre half - Cashin

Centre half - Nelson

Right Mid - Wilson

Centre Mid - New

Centre Mid - Bird

Left Mid - Mendez

Striker - New

Striker - New

Subs - Collins, Ward, Thompson , New, New,New,New…..

Love our current lads but without strengthening I fear we’d do a Wednesday and struggle and feel we’d need to alter the style of play a little to do well in the championship …but that’s a entiiiiiirrrrreeeelllyyyy different thread

Yeah, it's not too concerning at the moment. We would at least double our wage budget if we went up so have access to a better class of player, theoretically.

I am concerned with the recruitment strategy from the club - seems to be a point of frustration and it's ok when you have the biggest budget in the league, but that certainly wouldn't be the case after promotion - in fact we would probably find ourselves in the bottom 8 clubs in the league. I do think we would struggle in the Championship in our current state, but that's not to do with our current team, who for the most part are essentially with us for failing to hold down a regular role in the Championship in the first place. It's absolutely imperative that it needs to be improved - in absolutely every single position.

I would keep Wildsmith and Fozzy, but not Ward or Collins...and agree with your other choices

If we go up, I would keep 12 out of the current 24 man squad. If we don't go up, I would want to keep those 12 (unlielly as some will want to move on) and keep a further 3 or 4.

Either way, we'll need 10 signings between now and the end of the summer window. The more players we sign in this window who are capable of stepping up the better off we'll be. Due to who we have contracted currently and beyond the summer, that means a heavy focus on the attacking players this month - AMs, wingers and forwards

Elder and Sibley have already proved they can play at that level and I think Wildsmith should be able to.

Sibley isn't showing anything in league 1 nowadays let alone championship (yes he doesn't get much of a run to build up form but plenty of others don't that have shown more) disappointed In his progress currently

Bird - who played most of the season as an attacking mid has 7 goal involvements in the league (7 total), which is 1 every 231 mins (302 mins)
Sibley - who has played LB, LWB, LW, RW, CM, and AM has 2 goal involvements in the league (7 total), which is 1 every 328 mins (146 mins). At CM/AM only, he has 2 league goal involvements in 273 minutes - 1 every 137 mins and 3 in 284 mins in all competitions (1 every 95 mins)

Sibley has only had consecutive starts at AM twice this season. Unsurprisingly, he had a goal involvement in both of those spells (assist in his 2nd game of his first spell and a goal in the first game of his 2nd spell.

Bird 1 goal involvement every 3 games ! Against some of these pub teams . Hope he’s not bragging about that .

For comparison, he's creating as many open play chances as Szoboszlai is for Liverpool. There are only 7 PL CM/AMs who create more from open play than Bird does in League 1. It's nothing to be embarrassed by

Dress it up with stats as much as you want, his general play has been pretty poor on most occasions that he has played.

We talking about Sibley or Bird here? If it's Sibley, I completely agree.

He's a talented dribbler and has a fearsome shot on him. With these two attributes - or if you only watch players on the ball - then I can understand why you'd rate him.

Unfortunately, his decision making and off the ball work are really poor. He often spots this when it's too late, gets annoyed with himself, and then gives a free-kick away with a clumsy challenge with a yellow card for good measure.

I think even for a mid-table Championship side, those shortcomings are too great in the modern game.
