Pretty quiet otherwise; produced a lovely dolphin-esque leap and flip save 2nd half. Top keeper. Smith 7.0 Good solid neat simple Cashin 7.0 Dominant assured stylish Forsyth 7.0 Enjoying his purple patch docked half for his naive outstretched leg to give away the penalty Mendez-Laing 8.0 Machine on full power created the chances huge player for us Bird ?7.0 Cutting-edge presence & got forward more Hourihane 7.0 Grit and a new sharpness which got him booked Roberts 7.5 Ubiquitous presence around the pitch mobility & skill & headed assist Sibley 6.0 Ran down blind alleys & went into a shell Osula 6.0 Huffed & puffed but didn’t blow the house down McGoldrick 9.5 MotM ? Burned the Gas defence to the ground with mental finishing Collins 8.0 Bullied the opposition Rewarded with a tap-in from Roberts’s flicked assist should’ve scored 2nd half too Dobbin 6.0 Ran but didn’t connect with anything Thompson 6.5 A Duracell like 20 minutes to see the game out. Referee: 7.0 A good balanced game Nobody could work out the formation pre-match 4-2-2-2 illustrated that at the end of the day, Brian, it’s 11v11. Guest Posted October 30, 2022 Share Posted October 30, 2022 Wildsmith 7 (another steady game, has been very reliable) Smith 7 (would obviously rather not be RB but did well enough) Cashin 7 (didn’t hit the heights this time and caught out occasionally but still a decent performance) Forsyth 7.5 (really good again except for giving away the pen) Mendez-Laing 8 (most effective game for a while) Bird 7.5 (busy and mature performance) Hourihane 7 (finally - got stuck in, played well) Roberts 7.5 (good aggression and supported play well) Sibley 6.5 (steady but unremarkable) Osula 7 (worked hard and made a nuisance of himself) McGoldrick 9 (awesome finishing and great all round) Collins 8 (terrific forward play throughout - except giving away cheap free kicks when putting defenders under pressure!) Point also removed for clumsy penalty giveaway. Mendez-Laing - 8.5 our most consistent forward player, week in week out, and thankfully didn't have to track back. The verse about his neck is uneccessary. Bird ?- 6.5 was busier but still doesn't really like to match the opposition's willingness to get stuck in. Hourihane 6.5 better than in recent weeks, got about the pitch more Roberts - 7 Good energy, work needed on final ball Sibley 6 Offered very little and the subs seemed to disrupt us Osula 6 Same, looked a bit cumbersome like he needed half an hour to warm up to speed McGoldrick 10. Sublime, just sublime. A class above. Collins 8.5 Great to have him back and thankfully he picked up where he left off. A real menace. Dobbin 6 Good pace, good work ethic but he looks like an inexperienced player learning on the job, which of course he is. Missed a sitter second half to absolutely put the game to bed.
