Oh believe it, the old firm never disappoint in the levels of small mindedness, petty vendettas, whataboutism, and, ever new innovations in the field of bottom of the barrel (a new depth is never far away).

By comparison this thread is Socrates and Plato debating the nature of Joe Worrall's metaphysical crappness.

Sectarianism takes some beating 😁

It's appalling in almost every conceivable way. But the worst is just the pathetic nature of the vast majority of it.

That's why I propose a merger of the Glasgow clubs, to form a new club that is free from this legacy. It will be Particularly good and have a thistle as a traditional sign of the Scots diaspora. The revolution in Scottish football is the extinguishing of Celtic and rangers and the supremacy of Partic Thistle.

After the Ted McMinn testimonial we got talking to Rangers fans who were encamped in Derby for a few days with a few Irish lads thrown in, We were told the War stories not just from them in the 70s and 80s but their parents and Grandparents who encouraged all this on both sides of the dividing line, Not to sure if the stories were a little embellished but no reason to disbelieve them, It makes our football antics a teddy bears picnic, Glasgow in the 70s/80s was the worst place in Europe for knife crime/fights, Religion as you're aware plays a very integral part of life in Glasgow/Belfast, Your proposal of both clubs joining is pie in the sky...it just wont happen.

You don't see hoards of Gers and Tims laying aside their old differences to follow a revitalised Partic Thistle?

The other option I guess would be to relocate them both to the South Orkney Islands to a fate of playing each other for all eternity. We could even get the daily record to do a coupon for one way tickets.

Either way, the sectarian BS needs to go, it drags Glasgow down and achieves nothing.

No doubt there is some that would like a little "peace" from either side, I just don't see it, It's to ingrained in a 500+ year old religious divide.

Every generation attends church less the previous one and like all religious differences it's far more about power than theology.

It only continues because folks believe there is no other way, that it can't be stopped, well, frankly it can.

Of course it can...but it has to be by the will of the people, As each decade goes by the auld enemy slowly pass away, Then there might be a new educated breed of people that would like the above.

It might start with a unified Ireland...but 🙄🤷‍♂️

to summarise, he was offered two four year contracts from Newcastle and Fulham. He chose a one year contract at Forest. Which has effectively ended his career.

Forest, where crap footballers go to get crapper.

How much did they pay the ballbag to turn that down.  Probably find out in due course if the current FFP drama has legs.

So Forest are guilty of breaking premier league P&S rules over a three year period, when two of them were in the championship?

George Simms in the i explains that:

"Nottingham Forest are reportedly the club most likely to face charges on Monday, having signed 43 players since promotion to the Premier League in May 2022.

Owner Evangelos Marinakis has spent more than £250m on transfer fees in that period, alongside offering players disproportionally high contracts in order to attract them to the east Midlands. Marinakas also converted £11m worth of loans into shares for the financial year 2022-23"
