RoyMac5
So does the ref think he made a mistake (how?!) or is he feeling the pressure from it being poor lil Messi?

Gaspode
Poland seem happy to play for a draw - 10 men behind the ball for most of the game. It’s not exactly been a great game so far - though I suspect if the cameraman showed Messi picking his nose Danny Murphy would say it was the greatest thing he’d ever seen…. angieram and Premier ram
Rammy03
And that is precisely why VAR is flawed. People sitting behind screens trying to justify their job. Getting involved far too much. With fouls it will always be subjective but that was an utter disgrace. These referees are a load of clowns. Something has to change. What is said to the Ref by microphone?, What is said to those in the VAR room for them to make such a decision, What are the rules...if any, What are FIFA telling people, Is there a Messi(not messy)clause in FIFAs rules. That was going straight at the keeper and went in the corner instead. Just had a terrible foul by an Argentine player that Danny Murphy said was a great tackle (obviously not). On the replay you see the player slide in out of control and take the Polish player out and Murphy's response, "nothing wrong with that, just caught him slightly". Embarrassing, but not as embarrassing as the penalty decision. FIFA must really want Argentina through into the later stages. sage, angieram and RoyMac5

Not picking a fight but IMHO it was no more than a competent performance against very weak opposition. Yeah. The weakness of Wales did contribute to the perception! On the other hand, how often do England underwhelm against minnows, and could easily have done so last night? A bit like Derby against teams we should beat easily?
